Hopkins was previously considered p4p #1. He won all 4 belts at middleweight and beat all the top people in the division. Before that it was Roy Jones. He won all 4 belts at LHW and beat all the top people in the division.

Right now Cotto, Margarito, Williams and even Mosley and Cintron offer a challenging fight for Mayweather. Yet his competition at Welterweight has been poor. If he wants to be considered the best, he has to beat the best.

Its weird because Im pretty sure he can beat the top guys out there he is in his prime, not sure if its a confidence issue with him or he just doesnt want a-lot of hard fights in a row. I always thought he should have fought Margarito back when he was callin him out, then Cotto. I dont get why he isnt.
I think Floyd answered that himself before. I remember in an interview he was like when he was younger and coming up he was jus fighting for himself so hewould fight anyone anywhere just to prove he was the best. After he got kids his priorities changed and he had people that counted on him to not only take care of him but to be ok when he retires. He maximizes his profits, most see it as greed (which it actualy is) and some see it as business. Whatever it is it isn't winning him many new fans

          1. Is EVERYBODY saying that he can't win or is it split down the line?

          2. Is Cotto considered a great fighter right now or just a deserving of a shot kinda fighter?

What are you talking about, those guys can't talk money with Mayweather! Hell, everyone "knows" he'd beat them like he did Phillip N'Dou, so why should he have to prove it if everyone already knows!?

hatton in no way was really considered a GREAT fighter though. he may have been ranked, but he was not a great fighter. you cant use that as a point of debate when talking about floyd's competition. Marketability, yes, but not "greatness". the same thing with Oscar, he was GREAT during his career but has not won a meaningful fight in the past 6 years. thats right, 6 whole years. some posters say that the Oscar that fought Floyd that night could had beaten any WW out there but thats just BS because he hasnt done so at all.

                  Yea you're cool too.

I wouldn't wanna watch a fight with a buncha guys rooting for the same guys no way. That's the fun of fight night, putting up a few dollars with the boys who root for the other guy.

                    1. I said people, not meaning everybody, but enough doubt is being called into question as to whether Mayweather is still the best fighter in the division. If you ask enough boxing pundits, more than a few would say PBF would be in over his head.

                    2. Are you Floyd's accountant or matchmaker? Cotto has emerged as the number one contender (and is much more marketable than PBF or his groupies claim he is) in the division that Mayweather occupies, why not fight the guy? If you can tell me why DLH or Hatton rematches are more logical fights, then go right ahead and preach on preacher man. If not, then Cotto makes the most sense from a boxing standpoint.

                    Thanks for listening.

You might be my first person of choice on this forum to watch a fight with. I think we would probably get a kick out of all the same **** that goes on.

Like when an announcer goes off on a tangent and says some extremely ****** ****, I think you would be the person who would be laughing as hard as I was.
