    At any point?

Tunney at his peak was better than Billy Conn.

Loughrans resume at heavyweight was better than I had previously given him credit for. He probably deserved a shot at sometime. I wouldn't put him on par Langford or Wills. Probably more along the line with Bivins. His work at heavyweight was patchy and he never had a long streak at that weight.

Now it's my turn to play devil's advocate. Shouldn't Greb have Gotten a shot at Dempsey considering he was 4-1-1 against Loughran? Arguably 5-1. We know Jack liked to fight light heavies, and Greb had beaten the best of the and smoked Dempsey when they sparred, no? 😉

The Best Louis beats the Best Tunney, in my opinion. And there is no way a 38 year old Tunney is beating an up and coming Louis in my opinion as well.

Are you doing the Dempsey ducked Greb thing again?

Here's two articles posted in the NYT on the same day.

          NYT: July 10th 1922

Kearns Fails to Hear from Pittsburgher About Match with Harry Greb

Bell of Pittsburgh Says It's Too Late

Above is both sides of the argument; but the argument was irrelevant. Think money!

Doc Kearns screwed with everyone, Doc Kearns ducked everyone, Doc Kearns would let Dempsey fight anyone, if the money was right.

Pittsburgh wasn't even close in their bid. Kearns wanted a $500,000 guarantee and eventually settled for $300,000 from Shelby.

I argue: "Stop blaming Dempsey for having great representation!"

Up and coming Joe Louis lost to Schmeling. A seasoned veteran version of Tunney might have been able to take him.

Would it have been a tough ask at 38? Maybe so. But then again Jersey Joe Walcott won the heavyweight title in those days at 37.

              - -Tunney obviously didn't fancy engaging in any more fights and retired.

That's why the most recent posts were about IF Tunney had continued on. The specific question being IF there were names he could have added to his resume to improve it.

Do you know what "hypothetical" means?

Never mind, I'm forgetting who I'm talking to here...let me put it in your language.

                U understand the word IF?

I agree. Tunney had underrated skills as a fighter. As great as people say he was, he was imo better yet. He also had a great beard. Kind of a good match up, a real chess game. Louis would have to be able to set Gene up and Gene had the ability to fight off the back leg all night if need be. learned that from Corbet.
