Because heavyweight is the glamour division, so we always project onto it.

I think to a lesser extent, as he did more there, you could say the same thing about Ezzard Charles. Ditto for Langford.

All were greats, all (at one point) were heavyweights. Ergo in the mind of many all were great heavyweights. Spinks doesnt get it because he was more recent so we have personal memories of him NOT being a heavyweight.

Of court he is in the club, but how can we call him a "great" heavyweight? Is beating a man who hadn't fought in 3 years great? What other notable heavyweights did he even share the ring with?

When you see his skillset do you think it's great? Or not?

You don't think he would be able to box circles around a Rocky Marciano for example?

The fact is, he beat a fighter that was off for three years and had barely fought in five years. Do I think he could beat Marciano? I don't know, because he simply doesn't have enough fights at heavyweight to make that call. And even if I did think Tunney could beat Rocky, he still doesn't have the resume to put him amongst the greatest heavyweights. I think Rid**** Bowe had the skills to beat Marciano, but that doesn't make him an all time great, does it?

That's what I'm trying to get across to you.

The people that consider Gene Tunney to be an all-time great heavyweight base it on his his fighting qualities and abilities. Not on his resume.

U need change U Depends undergarment?

Dempsey couldn't BTFO out of Tunney in two fights so I don't see how the inferior Marciano would be able to.

First, Tunney is almost the perfect heavyweight size of--6', 200 lbs. Second, he is mighty pale. Third, he was a marine, so no draft dodger or someone with a Moslem name is likely to whip a good leatherneck.

So we're judging fighters and casting greatness upon them for being great in one division and only proving themselves by beating one fighter of note in the next division? If Usyk gets a Joshua fight next, beats him and retires, are we going to start mentioning him amongst the greatest heavyweights of all time?
