Yes, because before the KO loss Williams had shown an excellent chin. Martinez gets his power from good timing while Mugabi got his from pure power. Williams obviously got wiped out by a punch that he never saw, and it will be interesting to see how that effects his career in the future. So based on the Williams who beat Winky Wright I would pick him over Mugabi. But I wouldn't argue with someone disagreeing about Williams. I just regard Mugabi as an Edison Miranda level talent, impressively wiping out the soft competition and then failing in every big fight.

Mugabi is one of the hardest hitters in history and against Hagler showed he wasn't some swing-for-the fences moron. But, Sergio Martinez would give him too much to deal with- the speed, the angles, and the unpredictability.

Martinez avoids the biggest bombs and pummels Mugabi late for a TKO.

Martinez has more power and a better chin. I don't see any scenario in which Martinez doesn't win by KO in 3 rounds or less

3 rounds or less is the only scenario you see?

I think that should add some moe "WOW" to to the thread.

Mugabi pre Hagler wins. by stoppage. Mugabi was quite good before he was ruined, he was what 25-0? was a good boxer as well and could counter punch.

After Hagler I see him losing maybe even stoppage.

                  Disagree, especially about the chin.

But I do think Martinez would outbox The Beast to a decision.

                    Sergio stops him in 10.

Too much speed, too much skill.

I didn't even realize when quoting SCTrojan that he actually said Martinez has more power than Mugabi.

We are all entitled to our opinions...even when they're ABSURD. I think Martinez is a better fighter than Mugabi, but anyone who wants to (pretends) think Martinez could punch harder than Mugabi is a buffoon.
