Calzaghe never boxed below SMW in his entire pro career and I'm not sure why TS would think Hagler would need this advantage.
what has Calzaghe never having boxed below SMW got to do with my opinion of Hagler mauling him in the same way as he did Minter?

The second part wasn't addressed to you kiddo. It appeared from your post that you were comparing Calzaghe to Minter in some way, which is ludicrous. Well they were both southpaws, I guess. If you simply think Hagler would've mauled Calzaghe out of there early, well you're certainly entitled to your opinion.

*Addressed to the more serious posters* I think Hagler would've knocked Joe down once, maybe twice, and I can't see Joe winning enough rounds to make up for them. Joe's activity would've gone down considerably after getting hit with clean, hard counters.

I have never seen counter punching to be Joe's biggest problem. Joe's biggest weakness in my book was the fact that he wasnt some super strong wrestler, he was a wirey guy, if someone clinched and headbutted and clinched some more etc...and turned it into a wrestling match and not a boxing match, theyd have the best chance to beat Joe. Guys who won the most rounds against him did that stuff. Whoever said Joe adapted to his opponents is exactly right, watch his fights, he is so different from fight to fight. He does let his guard down during and after flurries and hed be open to a big counter there, but joe was great at dodging big shots, he welcomed them and definitely didnt fear them. Lacey who I know is hated on by everyone, Joe was killing in points, up a ton, but Jeff was considered the baby tyson, his power was said to be unmatched, Joe stood there pounding on him in the center of the ring in the 12th. Kessler also was a big puncher and the only other guy to beat Kessler did so by utilizing a series of vicious headbutts, and Joe walked through Kessler uppercuts. Joe is the most underrated fighter out there.

Joe Calzaghe would adapt after 4th round, and win a UD. Hagler didn't have what it takes to defeat a Joe Calzaghe.

He looked seriously hurt to me, and that cut nearly had the fight stopped. Meh, we've all got opinions.

Joe has a greater boxing IQ? I wouldn't say that Larry.

Hagler hit hard, but joe in his time had an iron chin and wouldnt be intimidated. He'd swarm him and bomb on him. No ones going to want to hear this, but joe was faster than hagler in every way. Faster reflexes, faster hands, just plain faster. Joe was also smarter, the smartest boxer ive ever seen. He knew exactly where to be and when to be there. People hate joe so they say he'll get sparked by hagler, but i think joe has the chin to take the shots and the speed to dodge them. And he would be throwing 3-4 times as many punches.
                    lmao !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
