    • Peole often underestimate haglers boxing skills and just see him as a brawler
rounds 1 to 4 he would outbox joe and begin to wear him down
round 5-8 he would start to land harder punches more often and break joe down
rounds 9 and 10 he would demolish landing bombs on calzaghe knocking him down twice in the 9th then finishing him off in the 10th

The truth is, while he's holding up Calzaghe's win over Hopkins as a great triumph, a prime Hopkins (as opposed to an ancient and well past it Hopkins) would have knocked Calzaghe out.

Hagler hit hard, but Joe in his time had an iron chin and wouldnt be intimidated. He'd swarm him and bomb on him. No ones going to want to hear this, but Joe was faster than Hagler in every way. Faster reflexes, faster hands, just plain faster. Joe was also smarter, the smartest boxer ive ever seen. He knew exactly where to be and when to be there. People hate Joe so they say he'll get sparked by Hagler, but I think Joe has the chin to take the shots and the speed to dodge them. And he would be throwing 3-4 times as many punches.
          ...what?

Anyway, back to reality, I think Hagler splits 1-8 and then stops him late. That's iffy, though, because Calzaghe really was tough. Convincing UD, though. Different leagues of fighters, honestly.

          • heres a relevant question pertaining to the Halger-Calzaghe matchup: Has Calzaghe ever fought a southpaw as a professional, and if so, how did he look?

Hagler looked very good against southpaws he fought.
