No, I'm stuck on you crybabies whining about Lewis retiring, but give Vits pass after pass for ducking a Byrd rematch and Rahman. But you like those guys who take the path of least resistance, don't you?

The optics were the referee rescued Lennox and not the other way around. Vitali's protesting was so passionate, vehement and adamant that the arena crowd took his side and booed Lennox as he departed the ring.

A rematch was needed and with the the built in story lines, it would have automatically generated massive profits. Isn't that what prize fighting is supposed to be about? $$$
The fight didn't NEED a rematch. It's not as if Vits was robbed. He was stopped. Rematch would have been nice, but Lewis owed nothing.

Couldn't agree more with the boldface.

But, to truly retire trump's all. It just has to. A figher should never be pressured to fight beyond his own assessment of his capabilities

i'm sorry. While I agree with all your statements regarding how the fight played out, and agree that it was Lewis' responsiblity to the fight game, I still must stand on the belief that Lewis truly quit the game, a very dangerous game.

That is his right to do, anytime he chooses, without being questioned, so long as he truly retires.

Without any doubt. Lennox knew it was time to go, even if Vitali shoved him out the door a little bit. I would say the public interpreted what really happened - Lennox realized he was lucky the ref stopped it and he finally met his match at precisely the wrong time in his career. He made the right decision for himself. And the decision probably added notoriety, value and prestige to Vitali's image and popularity. Everybody knew it was Vitali who evicted the lion king Lewis from the boxing jungle.

LL being booed out of the ring in Staples Center certainly was a lot better ending than being left on the canvas flat on his back and incoherent in a Vitali rematch..

Or maybe , a better prepared Lewis would have opened up all, that scar tissue and done the same thing again?
Prime for prime Lewis beats Vitali, and Wlad.

Lewis is easily a top ten heavweight, and a case can be made for Wlad too.

No such case can be made for Vitali, and that's on him.imo.

Unfortunately Lennox did not have your confidence to try his hand at the rematch for $25m plus so your predictions are worthless.

Lennox and the Klitschkos were probably the 3 goats, until Usyk came along and exceeded their greatness with his perfect career.

Lewis waited and hoped Vitali would lose to Kirk Johnson at Madison Square Garden. Lewis was on the record predicting Johnson would beat Vitali. Lewis also publicly predicted Sanders would beat Vitali.

These failed predictions by Lewis also reveal he could not gauge the skills, talent and abilities of Vitali. Vitali tremendously confused the great mind of "the pugilist specialist."

Ahhhh, the old nuthugger double standards!!! That's not what the WBC said about Vits-Rahman. The ordered the fight and when Vits couldn't find any more ways to get out of it he quickly retired. Only difference is Lewis stayed retired.

Lewis hoped Vitali lost to Johnson which would have set him free to keep fighting handpicks for another year or two. Lewis predicted Johnson would beat Vitali however Vitali destroyed Johnson in less than two rounds making Lennox look a fool. Also Vitali's KO of Johnson was so impressive it probably psyched out Lennox and scared him.

Vitali probably should have held back and carried Johnson in a boring sparring session, that might have lured Lennox into the trap.
