This was when Jones and Hopkins and Holyfield were about done and there was no black American attraction to carry the torch. Arum became disgusted with Floyd and tried to knock him off with Margarito. But Floyd knew what was cooking and escaped Margarito and Top Rank and then Haymon took care of the rest.

HBO later dumped Floyd when they realized he was never going to fight Pacquiao and didn't want to fund Fraudweather's phony sparring session tour anymore. Haymon then manipulated Espinoza and Showtime to give them a six fight $150m guaranteed contract. Again Floyd and Haymon intended to duck Pacquiao forever but when the Maidana, Guerrero, Ortiz fights did lousy numbers, the head of CBS Showtime Les Moonves stepped in and gave Haymon Floyd the ultimatum to fight Pacquiao and that's the only reason why it happened.

      - - Don't forget when l'l floydy put Maidana in a choke hold and stuffed his glove up his mouth to choke him out that was allowed by Bayless. So Maidana took the bait and bit down that sent l'l floydy squallin" fer his Cr ack Daddy in his corner that stopped the fight without Bayless calling for a time, either a clear DQ or KO when a fighter turns his back to run away.

l'l floydy was the Giant Sucking Sound after Tyson retired.

        Not what happened.

Is this another one of those things where you think the year 2008 happened after the year 2009?

"With questionable wins". Please name these "wins". Note that you're using the word winS, plural.

He also wasn't manufactured "out of thin air" you thick cunt. He'd been the P4P #1 fighter in the world for a number of years by then and on the P4P list for nearly a decade.

HBO dumped Floyd. Fact. Because they knew he intended to duck Pacquaio forever and HBO was not interested in selling more garbage Mayweather sparring sessions. HBO kept it quiet out of respect for Floyd's cowardice and the future of the sport.

Actually not even remotely close to fact.

                  In fact, the opposite.

                  You're clueless.

                  • What I have been able to find out.

                    1. HBO and Maywesther Jr. were are odds, not over money per fight, but with Mayweather's demand for a six fight contract.

                    2. HBO was also at odds with Golden Boy (and Haymon) over other non-Mayweather fights HBO was expected to produce. In HBO's opinion Golden Boy was demanding too much money for lesser fights and Haymon was demanding complete control over opponent choices.

                    3. HBO announced that on average only 2% of its subscribers tuned into (free) boxing events.

                    4. Showtime was willing to meet both Mayweather's and Golden Boy's demands so HBO let them steal Golden Boy from them.

HBO finally decided that 'boxing' (as a loss-leader to gain subscribers) was no longer worth the cost of the Mayweather Jr., Haymon, Golden Boy annoyance.

HBO in 2018 walked away from all one night events and has focus solely on its profitable miniseries, e.g. Game of Thrones, True Detective, ETC.

It seems to me that HBO was less satisfied with boxing in general than it was dissatisfied with Mayweather Jr. and Golden Boy in particular.

Showtime, always second to HBO, was willing to throw more money into the loss-leader concept 'boxing' had become, hoping to build its subscription numbers. (The tactic HBO had used to success but no longer believed in.)

HBO wasn't just done with Mayweather Jr., Golden Boy, or Haymon, but instead lost interest in losing money on boxing, in general.

When 98% of your subscribers won't tune into a live fight for free, why bother?

For HBO boxing was no longer a money maker, nor was it even building subscriptions.

You can decide if this is Mayweather's fault, Haymon's fault, Golden Boy's fault, or HBO's failure.

The business changed with Roy Jones handpicking set ups during his guaranteed HBO contract. The networks lost the power to make the right fights, the real high risk superfights which are the events that make the sport special. Roy and then Floyd stopped taking the high risk fights and picked their business. Some of the top fighters took control from the networks and would no longer risk their record, leverage and value by taking a potential KO loss fight. Floyd was the leader, the face of the sport. And when he refused to engage in the big fights the public wanted - Margarito, Cotto undisputed battle of unbeatens 2008 on HBO, Williams, Martinez... it marked the beginning of the end. HBO didn't believe in the product anymore. HBO didn't want to be associated with more lousy Floyd fake fights anymore and got out of boxing. Showtime linked with Floyd also ended in failure. As the face of the sport Floyd was the beacon of the sport and he failed to do what's best for the sport and it's future. He did what was best for himself. And now the sport is in ruins. Canelo is an extension of Floyd with all boring set up phony fights that are all disappointments consumed by suckers and dummies.
