You're right about the stabbing though. It for all intents and purposes messed with his mind, the crazy part is it was the second time in his life he had been stabbed. Some luck

Most (not all) of those fighters are crap and were found out at the top level.

            The worst is Jeff Lacy.

The best is Ray Mercer, I don't know why he's on the list.

I am not going to including fighters that did a crime and got sentence to a long prison sentence or someone who got into a freak accident.

              1. Zab Judah
              2. Jeff Lacy
              3. Deontay Wilder
              4. Leon Spinks
              5. Adrian Broner
              6. Andy Ruiz
              7. Allen Green
              8. Jermall Charlo
              9. Kelly pavlik
              10. Ray Mercer
              11. James DeGale
              12. Victor Ortiz
              13. Gary Russell Jr.
              14. Andre Berto
              15. Abner Mares

If you think none of these names fit the bill. Submit your boxer.

I feel like Wilder, Judah, Broner, Mercer and others on your list definitely reached their potential or ceilling or however you want to put it. Maybe Wilder could have sparked Joshua at some point if that fight happened to add to his legacy but he's still a former HW champion with years of title defences under his belt and the highest KO % of all time.

Lacy I think shouldn't be on there at all. All due respect to him but he was stiff and limited and was never gonna be a major force, Calzaghe or not.

To try to contribute to your thread, Over the last few generations I feel like we didn't get the most out of our LHW champions. We could have seen a lot of good matchups. Ward, Kovalev, Beterbiev, Stevenson. Typical boxing though. You only get a few of those fights and usually too late.

Ray Mercers career highlight was losing to Lennox ( some say he won) ans beating Tommy Morrison and grabbing the WBO belt and that's it. His power, chin, durability and his other skillsets i believe Mercer could had been the top 3 best Heavyweight of the 90s. I believe he could had a better career if he worked on his abilities and stayed in shape. That Holmes fight and Damiani Mercer looked lost in the sauce. I think Judah had the best career on this list. From a heavyweight perspective you could say Wilder had a better run at heavyweight then Mercer.

Not getting that Stevenson vs Kovalev fight still pisses me off til this day. To follow up on that. I think if Chad Dawson didn't drain himself to fight ward he probably would had outboxed Stevenson! Shout out to Connecticut!!!!

His main problem was from when he started on FNFs on Espn after the Olympics he only stepped up his level of comp to the C level and didn't improve at all from his pro debut. He was even recently still throwing that clownish bolo uppercut, that isn't going to cut it against top level guys and can get you countered badly. By the time he fought Benavdiez he was a bit past his peak not going to the natural progression needed to improve. He fits the category of wasted potential for sure.
