He beat as good of comp as Roy Roys, and their resumrs at that weight are pretty even. The IBRO has Jones ranked 10th all time at 175, yet Michalszewski isn't in the top 20. Is this a miscarriage of justice or warranted? Dariusz had an excellent skillset. In fact I have no doubt he is the most skilled fighter besides Andre Ward and Jones since his era. He would in my opinion undoubtedly be champion today. So where should he rank historically? Certainly he has a better lightheavyweight resume than Fitzsimmons who ranks 11th on that list. My point being.....I get Jones being rated, I don't get why Michalazweski isn't when their lightheavyweight careers were so similar.

    Highly underrated.

A very hard fight for any light-heavy win or lose.

A fighter is not full owner of his booty. But it is better for boxing and its promoters to broadcast the largest number possible.

They do the same thing with poker players on TV tournaments. That's Dan Smith folks, who has won over $47,000,000 in tournament play so far in his career. Yeah, but how much did it cost him? He probably easily plays in 100 tournaments a year, traveling the globe constantly to exotic resorts for the next event on the tour. Each tourney has an entry fee, which is usually sizeable to win big money. Privately, he uses those losses as a tax write off. Is it more compelling to announce he won 47 million, or that he hammered out $10million in a tough 11 year career so far, after expenses? Besides, how on earth would the announcer know how much Roy is worth unless he is also Roy's accountant?

Place in history? This is his history. On a sub forum on a boxibg website. That's it from the American perspective. Boxing is a popularity contest before anything. Him being European and only fighting big fights in his country hurt his legacy. That doesn't mean he's trash. He's just forgettable, just like how the average American fan isn't thinking about Alexis, Chris John, Ricardo Lopez, Kessler, Collins and many more.

70 million minus manager/trainers/costs/taxes = 30 million to the fighter.

It depends on what the '30 million' meant. If the articles is about how much he blew then the figure seems correct.

I wonder about any earnings figure I hear. Too many people have too many reasons to lie, both ways.

Bild Zeitung have an interesting interview with former WBO light heavyweight champ Dariusz "Tiger" Michalczewski, who now resides in Gdansk, Poland. "Tiger" tells how he earned 30 million Euro in the ring and has now spent it all, mainly through expensive divorces but also by leading a pretty wild lifestyle.
