Peter was 28 yrs old, 30-1, consecutively beating TwoTon wide in both fights, then McCline and Maskaev consecutively for the WBC title, Maskaev having twice KOed Rahman.

Foreman and Pazienza were the most impressive to me.

Lmao....and Vits fought NONE of them. How come?

Peter was a crude puncher in a weak era. Hardly a monster.

I think it compares favorably to Ali’s comeback as I outlined in my post. Vitali had been away longer, was way older and, as Ali, took on the second best hw in the world.

Benny Leonard had a reasonable comeback. Took it all the way to top but didn't have enough to take the title from a bigger, prime, rugged McLaren.

If Foreman hadn't stopped Moorer would you put him at the top of this list?

Truth be told I thought Old George's 12 rounds with Holyfield was the highlight performance of his comeback.

I loved it when in the late rounds he pushed a clinching Holyfield off him and growled "lets fight."

I loved it when he won the title in comeback and the commentator says "it happened, it happened" and foreman looks up to heaven.

It ranks up there with Manual Charr's win over Ustinov.

I know its less due to boxing reasons, but Jimmy Braddock may be the most historic, or at least the most famous.

Start- Late 20s highly ranked LHW who earns a title shot
Fall- Title fight loss, broken hand, financially broke in the Great Depression, loses 20 of his next 33 fights
Comeback- 3 straight upset wins out of nowhere, then winning the Heavyweight Championship
