A comeback which is not mentioned often is Eder Jofre's. Retired in 1966, he returned to action in 1969 and won a world title at 37, in 1973. He continued fighting and winning until 1976, basically never losing in the final segment of his career. Quite astonishing.
    - - Eder one of the most amazing boxing and personal history stories around. Had his autobio published just a few years ago and passed only months ago in 2023.

Henry Maske retired in 1996 after his only professional defeat to Virgil Hill for the LHW title. He made a comeback almost 11 years later at age 43 to avenge his only loss to Hill who was still active.

From an historical point of view - but for all wrong reasons - we should also mention Tony Ayala Jr, who resumed his career some 16 years after being jailed.

You have to give it to George, imo.

Marciano over Walcott for the single event, imo.

I mean, George got two defined careers.

Rocky went down, then waited and baited the same punch to counter in such a perfect way it alone is legendary.

Yes i agree very much. I remember big George's story of how he reached out to God desperately and felt something profound happen and his whole mindset was put on a happy course of action. Whether it is our higher self that we are activating or whether it is a higher power that wants us to be happy I guess we'll never know in this lifetime but these desperate pleas to the almighty have often helped individuals to somehow find not only hope but also a certain plan of action.
I never ranked big George that high because I felt he had zero tactics against ali and I thought as a kid back then "how can he go into a fight with only one tactic to knockout ali fast" I felt he must have been a bit thick to not have plan b and c etc.
But people like willow the wisp have caused me to take another look at foreman as i admire his knowledge and feel George must have more to him than I previously thought he did.
Certainly winning against Moorer was an incredible comeback. He looked like a boxing buddha!! an incredible man. He, by the way, thinks that Joe Louis is the greatest hw ever.
