i think ivich you should wait a day or so so that boxing historians like yourself can post responses don't expect debates to be going on in real time like every hour, I find battling nelson, billeu, willow, willie pep, apples iron dan, jab and yourself to name just a few are walking boxing historians and i really enjoy reading your debates and i even go as far as say that queeny knows all about boxing. I think these debates take time to evolve and for posters to search for backing up evidence to illustrate their opinions. wait a few days and you see debates getting better and better. I think when members get personal it gets silly. Sorry I did that to queeny and i will try not to again. I have only discussed around 20% of my boxing knowlege and for you guys mentioned it is probably closer to 5%.
Give debates time to respond and don't let arseholes get you down.Last edited by max baer; 08-23-2023, 04:38 PM.

I think I've seen just about every quote about the Sharkey fight, unless Pollack's Vol 2 surprises me? The referee said one of Dempsey's blows glanced off Sharkey's upper thigh, but that the last body shot was not low. Dempsey vs Sharkey - No low blow

The day after the bout they replayed the fight at Yankee Stadium for the sportswriters. Slow motion of the ko blows reveals that the body blows were legal punches.

I don't know if I'd say I have issues with his career besides that he ducked his #1 contender. But no one is perfect. We can pick apart any of these boxers careers from past to present. But the guys we discuss are all great champions of the sport and I appreciate them in that regard.
That's right. He did say the blow glanced off Dempsey's thigh. But then he says something funny...or just inaccurate. He said after the low blow he went to step in to deliver the warning, and then he says that Dempsey hit Sharkey with a solar plexus shot. But there was no solar plexus shot. And then came the shot to the head and Sharkey dropped. The ref just seemed to have an off night.
So according to the ref's statement, the final three blows of the fight were a low blow (agreed, though he says it hits on the leg), a left to the solar plexus (phantom punch), and the left to the jaw. I've watched the video over and over. There simply is no solar plexus blow.
Take a look and tell me if you see the solar plexus blow.

Facts are Dempsey paid a heavy price financially and career wise trying to make the unmakable Wills fight. That has been proven emphatically no matter your blizzard of facts that you don’t enemies understand.
I agree he paid a price financially. Dempsey left a lot of money on the table by ducking the fight.

Meanwhile Wills was DQ’d about six times in his career, he was a dirty fighter. Not a word from T-bung. The “last word” liar has never read a boxing book or conducted impartial research. Just smearing and taunting. Johnson’s color line is well documented. No need to lie about the man who was one of the biggest liars in boxing history, lol.I'm not even thinking about you.
By the way, THE REF said it was low. Blame him. He's only the authority and third man in the ring
By the way, way to bring up Johnson again out of nowhere. The funniest thing about you is that everything you accuse others of...that's exactly who you are. Exactly.Last edited by travestyny; 08-23-2023, 04:56 PM.joseph5620 likes this.

The last 2 punches looked borderline to me, more on the left side, belt line of the stomach ,and no I didn't see any solar plexus punch .Last edited by Ivich; 08-23-2023, 05:58 PM.travestyny likes this.

Video shows right hand landed on belt line where Sharkey’s trunks were up high. Sharkey was known as a cry baby always looking for the foul. They called him the weeping warrior for a reason. Ironically, he was the one who hit Dempsey after the bell to end the 6th. Since we are using anonymous sources might well contribute.
