Like many fights of the era, I doubt there is a full version. I too have read many of the stories of this fight. I doubt the "under the ring" story holds any merit. If it were true why did Johnson's seconds wait so long when it was such a one sided fight? The police stopping it so Burns wouldn't be knocked out makes since to me. I'm not sure what the political or racial outlook was with black Americans at that time in Australia, but I do know aboriginal racism was always a problem there. This, and the beating Johnson was giving Burns makes me lean in that direction.
Dempsey Story: The Firpo fight, because of the Sims Law, could only be shown legally in New York.

They say that Doc Kearns was running around the City with a pair of scissors (literally) and was cutting Dempsey's flight out of the ring out of all the copies he could get his hands on.

Boxing history is almost an oxymoron, we can't even discern the whole story from the damn fight films.

Never heard that story about Kearns. Don't know if it's true, but it sounds like something he'd do. You're right though, boxing history truly is an oxymoron.
