160 was Popkins' best weight, but Toney has no best weight in spite of moving all the way to heavy, something Poppy could never do. Somewhere in the middle of that they could fight save they didn't because Toney was always too heavy.

I have come to appreciate Dan Hammy bringing a little balance to Toney discussions around this dump. Toney was only super impressive at chin. His most outstanding attribute was that he could take the punches of galootweights. Fans were awe struck when they saw this. They still haven't gotten completely over it. It must be reminiscent of the effect Mickey Walker had on fans, when fighting people as relatively large as Max Schmeling, or Duran fighting Barkley on even terms.Comment
