Just to be an annoying old man . . . I felt the punch was a foul.

In the run up to the Dempsey-Willard go it was decided that rabbit punches were OK (it was Willard favorite punch probably because he was looking down at most of his opponents) but kidney shots were ruled out (as a foul).

But Jonrs's shot was too far back IMO.

You know what mate that’s a fantasy matchup I’ve never even thought about- they’re two of my all time favourites too. Roy would really have to use his feet, he couldn’t sit on the ropes against Frazier. I think Roy could potentially out point him but he’d have be on his A game defensively.

I don't argue with folks who say Moore, Spinks, or Jones

Charles and Tunney, imo, enjoy an unearned status as neither were actually ever LHW champion.

Tunney is a colorline champion firstly and secondly he doesn't have a LHW resume. He's got Dempsey, a HW, and Greb, a MW. ****ing excellent choice for LHW goat....dumb****s

Yes but that's because Charles never got a shot at the title, so he moved up to heavyweight. Can't blame Charles for being ducked by the light heavy champ.

I remember Hill saying his ribs were broke and Jones saying he broke his hand

I agree, I don't blame Charles, he's one of my favorites, but, I don't award things based on dreams. Charles was never LHW champion, Sam Langford was never HW champion, **** happens.

That said, I do wonder why those willing to call Tunney or Charles GOAT are more reserved with Langford as MW GOAT given Sam probably has the finest MW resume at HW...if that wording makes sense. Because I do personally see it similarly. Charles gets his LHW respects mostly from his HW run. Tunney does too. There's another pretty great boxer who didn't grab a world title in his division but proved his greatness among others of his division through the top end of a heavier division.

Jones time at the top of any division was a spectacular reign but it was always limited due to his lack of fundamental skills. He relied almost exclusively on his superb athletic gifts like his unreal speed and reflexes. When those athletic skills were gone, he was just above ordinary and his chin failed him because he actually got hit hard. In his prime, he was almost unbeatable. He should have retired early. Just my opinion.
