That said, I do wonder why those willing to call Tunney or Charles GOAT are more reserved with Langford as MW GOAT given Sam probably has the finest MW resume at HW...if that wording makes sense. Because I do personally see it similarly. Charles gets his LHW respects mostly from his HW run. Tunney does too. There's another pretty great boxer who didn't grab a world title in his division but proved his greatness among others of his division through the top end of a heavier division.
I thought Charles got his accolades based on what he did at light heavy. Did he not beat everyone at that weight class and earn a title shot? Does he not have a great resume there? He should only get props if he does there.

Oh yes, Ezzard has a LHW resume. Maxim, Bivins, Moore. Former champion in Gus at HW though.

      Freddie Mills, Champion
      1. Gus Lesnevich
      2. Leonard Morrow
      3. Archie Moore
      4. Dave Sands
      5. Lloyd Marshall
      6. Charley (Doc) Williams
      7. Oakland Billy Smith
      8. Artie Levine
      9. Henry Hall
      10. Dave Whitlock

Without looking up, I think Charles beat ever other name. Gus, Moore, Marshall, Smith, he earned a LHW shot imo for sure.

As did Langford...no one give him credit for things not done though.

Then Charles being picked as best light heavy by some is not just hype. He earned that by who he actually beat at that weight class.
