    Thank you Sir.

Not wishing to be rude to anyone, but to me its just common sense that you cannot give a definitive verdict on a fight that you have only seen parts of,and that if such well respected boxing scribes voted for Louis, it must have been a very close fight.

To Dr Duck,Slugfester, and Mr Big.

Below is what you are judging this fight on.
EDITED HIGHLIGHTS IN WHICH NO ROUND GOES MORE THAN 45 /50 SECONDS AND SOME ONLY ABOUT 15 SECONDS!
PLEASE POINT OUT ALL THE BOOING WHEN THE DECISION WAS ANNOUNCED.YOU CAN HEAR IT IN THE LAST ROUND WHEN WALCOTT IS RUNNING LIKE A THIEF AT ONE POINT TURNING HIS BACK ON THE PRESSING LOUIS

I bought this film as part of a Joe Louis collection ,from Black Hawk films on Super 8mm in the 60's.
THERE WERE NO COMPLETE ROUNDS IN IT THEN AND THERE ARE NONE NOW.
IF ANY OF YOU THREE ,WHO ARE SAYING WALCOTT WON THIS FIGHT BEYOND DOUBT CAN PLEASE TELL US WHERE YOU OBTAINED THE ADDITIONAL FOOTAGE FROM SO WE MAY BUY IT AND WATCH IT TOO. I'D BE MOST GRATEFUL .
I WAIT WITH EAGER ANTICIPATION TO LEARN YOUR SOURCE !

Joe Louis vs Jersey Joe Walcott 1 5/12/1947 (youtube.com)

    The next days report.

"So close was it after the final round, there was a deathless hush as Announcer Harry Balogh gathered the ballots."

"Knocked down twice in the early rounds, and his left eye beaten until it was a mere slit, the Brown Bomber had to come with a furious rush in the closing stanzas to gain the verdict of the two judges,Frank Forbes and Marty Monroe.Ruby Goldstein the referee, marked his card for Walcott,it was that close."

      Nice.
Not that anybody asked me. But...

Have I ever seen you post confrontationally? Possibly.
Have I ever seen you post opinionated?
      Sure.
Have I ever seen you post frustrated?
      Oh, Sure!
Have I ever seen you post bullspit or foolishly?

      Never once.

The "Walcott beat the tar out of him" narrative has simply grown in proportion over time. A close fight, assuredly. A train robbery? No. You've employed excellent source data to prove that.

Louis loss his first fight in 1936 He didn't lose his next fight until 1949. Yet there are people here who say Louis was overrated.
          - - Joe's last 6 fights date back to 1941, ie the time he entered the US Army. Joe never served and so had an active career going back to 1946 for his last 6 fights.

Yeah, Joe won, but whenever Joe had a controversy like with Buddy Baer previous, he gave quick rematches where the disputees were summarily KTFO, which is what happened to Jersey Joe.

No finer heavyweight champion was ever created than Joe Louis and dats da FACT, Jack...

Had two defenses in 1942 and would have had a Conn rematch that October but it got corrupted and nixed.

He barnstormed exhibitions through 1944, but I have always wondered he if gained revenue from those events.

He defended against Conn (II) and Tami Mauriello in 1946 but mostly barnstormed the rest of the year. Very active but not fighting.

He was still barnstorming in the first half of 1947, when in June, he ran into the New York problem again, (See: Johnny Davis defense 1944) and from it grew out the Wacott title defense of early December 1947.

The Walcott rematch in 1948 was the real end. Too bad it didn't end there.

He spent all of the rest of 1948 fighting directly for the army, in full exhibitions. Against servicemen. (He was scoring KOs! More likely early TKO safety calls.)

These fights I suspect were tax related.

            1950: Then Charles and Marciano.

              - - Louis reportedly boxed an exhibition in a natural bowl amphitheater in Southern England for the D Day a couple of days before the Normandy invasion.

              Words fail…

You guys I think unintentionally answer my exhibition vs. purse question.

The D-Day exhibitions were certainly just that, a military event, but by November, when we were pretty sure we had the war won they let Louis barnstorm.

Cyber Boxing only begins their count of the exhibitions on November 3rd. So I'm gessing those exhibitions brought in some cash.

The fact that others have different opinion really bothers you.
