    Not in the slightest.

What bothers me is their opinion is formed on the basis of highlights from a fight in which the excerpts from rounds vary from 13 seconds to under a minute each.
    That is nonsensical.

Not wishing to be rude to anyone, but to me its just common sense that you cannot give a definitive verdict on a fight that you have only seen parts of,and that if such well respected boxing scribes voted for Louis, it must have been a very close fight.

To Dr Duck,Slugfester, and Mr Big.

Below is what you are judging this fight on.
EDITED HIGHLIGHTS IN WHICH NO ROUND GOES MORE THAN 45 /50 SECONDS AND SOME ONLY ABOUT 15 SECONDS!
PLEASE POINT OUT ALL THE BOOING WHEN THE DECISION WAS ANNOUNCED.YOU CAN HEAR IT IN THE LAST ROUND WHEN WALCOTT IS RUNNING LIKE A THIEF AT ONE POINT TURNING HIS BACK ON THE PRESSING LOUIS

I bought this film as part of a Joe Louis collection ,from Black Hawk films on Super 8mm in the 60's.
THERE WERE NO COMPLETE ROUNDS IN IT THEN AND THERE ARE NONE NOW.
IF ANY OF YOU THREE ,WHO ARE SAYING WALCOTT WON THIS FIGHT BEYOND DOUBT CAN PLEASE TELL US WHERE YOU OBTAINED THE ADDITIONAL FOOTAGE FROM SO WE MAY BUY IT AND WATCH IT TOO. I'D BE MOST GRATEFUL .
I WAIT WITH EAGER ANTICIPATION TO LEARN YOUR SOURCE !

Joe Louis vs Jersey Joe Walcott 1 5/12/1947 (youtube.com)

      The next days report.

"So close was it after the final round, there was a deathless hush as Announcer Harry Balogh gathered the ballots."

"Knocked down twice in the early rounds, and his left eye beaten until it was a mere slit, the Brown Bomber had to come with a furious rush in the closing stanzas to gain the verdict of the two judges,Frank Forbes and Marty Monroe.Ruby Goldstein the referee, marked his card for Walcott,it was that close."
Ya this always happens. People just want to be lazy and believe things

I suspect it's more like "******ity, bullshit claims, and gratuitous assertions with no evidence to back it up" really bothers him. As it should anyone with more than two braincells to rub together.

            • They don't fight from range much; they leave themselves open a lot.
A lot of times, they will just throw themselves into the body and not protect themselves.
              It
They use mostly counters when up close; the lateral movement is very basic; they don't seem to be able to punch from range while doing it smoothly; they have to stop then punch most of the time; and their feet are mostly tiptoeing.

And a lot of times they wait for the person to hit them, standing right in front of their opponent. They all had these or multiple of these flaws in this era because it was all they knew it was the style. "

They even a lot of times looked to seem like they getting ready to dodge as if a football player were ready to run and they looked off balance doing that the person usually didn't counter that they just got away with it, they did that cause they weren't always good at reading where the other person was moving to, on top of they had their hands low doing that

it's not a coincidence all the matches posted from this era all fighters had the same obsolete flaws and tech cause its was all they knew at the time

So anybody who said Joe would beat guys in the 70s-'90s is a lunatic idiot

His whole era was novices compared and no one even made mid-card fighting like anybody from his era in the years named even guys in their amateur form from the years I named would destroy him in the 1st

                    • I haven't seen the whole fight and neither have you,the crucial difference is I'm not prattling on about people having," two good eyes to score a fight ,"about crooked judges and Walcott being robbed and you are!
The shown video shows Walcott was robbed. The loud boo after the announcement that Louis won combined with the body language of Louis who looked like the loser and Walcott's comer being visibly upset backs up what we saw on film. Did you watch it, and hear it?

" Sorry Joe ", Louis said to Walcott after the decision was announced.

Finally in the way fights are scored now in the 10 point must system, which gives knock downs scored 10-8 rounds, ( Walcott has two 10-8 rounds ) makes it virtually impossible for Louis to win a close fight for the few ring side spots people who scored him the winner on points! The 10 point system was not used in this fight.

                    You are a joke.

A few fighters I think would beat Louis that fought before him and several that fought after him beat him.

You have only seen clips of edited highlights and are in no position to judge who won. We are talking about the fight as it was scored THEN NOT NOW
13 of the ringside writers scored for Louis including
                      John Lardner
                      Nat Fleischer
                      Red Smith

Walcott was visibly upset after he laid down to Marciano in their 2nd fight, pantomiming outrage it is a corner's job to make the most of a close defeat .
Louis stated in his autobiography and on national TV that he had no doubt he won the fight.

He also said he told all his opponents he was sorry after he beat them. He said he was upset at his performance and that Walcott spent the latter part of the fight refusing to engage.

You hatred of Louis ,along with that of Dempsey, and Johnson is well documented on this forum and the one you were barred from for exactly the same thing .
                      You have no credibility here.

Do stop trying to turn every thread into your personal hate campaign
