I doubt that reflected on all White people. What do you think?

Certainly his drawing the color line didn't reflect on all the White people that wanted the Wills fight, now did it?

Throwing around accusations of being a racist? Yea. I'm definitely laughing.
    Irrelevant/desperate reply.

Ah the old two wrongs make me right argument.

This discussion isn't about Dempsey. Try to stay focus.

The conversation is about whatever I want it to be about.

It it weren't, then why would you reply?

You mad? Sorry your idol ducked him but that's no reason for you to post like your thong is too tight. Happened a long time ago, buddy. Learn to face reality.

Funny how we today praise Jackie Robinson for recognizing his position in the Bkack community and history and ow he disciplined himself accordingly to get the job done. For that we today praise him . . . Johnson on the other hand acted in as boorish a manner a man can act and you all give him a free ride.

Jack Johnson caused the color line to deepen, gave amunition to the haters, and set back black fighters for a generation.

If Johnson hadn't ducked Jeannette and Langford we wouldn't need this conversation - he would be the mere footnote he should be and a line of great black champions would have preceded Louis. But that chance was lost as JJ repeatedly ducked black fighters who just might beat him.

Would make sense if he didn't sign up and have the fight taken away though no fault of his own.

We can't say the same for Dempsey, can we?

Name one other fighter that beat his wife and had it reflect on an entire race of people. Can you?

Johnson signed to defend against Jeannette in NY twice, and against McVey and Langford in Australia,The fights were pulled because of the NYAC and Australian public opinion. This is all easily verified.

Yes because it was Johnson. That's the point I am making. If he had fought Jeannette in Paris and lost things would have worked out different in America.

New York would have embraced Jeannette as they did Wills.

No I don't think I could. Other fighters were not put under the same spotlight - but then again Louis and Jackie Robinson found themselves under the same level of scrutiny, but unlike Johnson they measured up to the challenge, Johnson didn't. Such a shame the opportunity was missed and black fighters had to wait two decades for a better man (Joe Louis) to come along and fix the damage done.

What about with McKetrick (sp) in Paris? Was that taken from him or did he just duck Jeannette?
