If Jeannette has been champion in 1915 and not Johnson - it would have been Dempsey looking for a shot at Jeannette in 1919. Certainly Wills would have been in the mix.
How so? I didn't know that what I do would affect my entire race.

What did Johnson do that was so terrible? Last I saw, he was pardoned for any crimes.

Are all (insert your race here) people biased toward Dempsey? According to your logic, they are. How do you make sense of this? I'm curious.

I see Johnson as a national hero.

I don't really agree with collective and community. I don't think I've ever spoken to it because I don't like for not-so race based opinions to become race-based but this is more a stance that happens to, in this situation, run directly into the face of race-based community.

If I am pro individual and anti-community....kinda means I don't really recognize the "black community" in any positive or valuable light. So for me, I'm not the guy to speak to Johnson's impact on the black americans, on just so many levels. Not black, don't believe in the value of community, wasn't there, so on.

What I do believe in is Americanism. Good ol fashion superiority, exceptionalism, and above all else that don't tred on me individualistic attitude that push Americans to build not just this nation but take a look around, America built this ****ing planet son. Not with togetherness or kumbaya bull****.

Jack Johnson gave no ****s about anyone but Jack Johnson and through his individualistic acts made a mark so deep and undeniable his influence is still felt today. American as ****. Jack Johnson faced an unfair government in battles he could not win and in the end that government was forced to shame themselves for their acts against this great American. American as ****.

I don't think there is a better shining example of don't tread on me than Jack Johnson. He dared to dream the impossible dream and for his troubles we awarded him with nothing but more trouble, and, this is crucial, he did not break. He doubled down and give it back as best he could. He really made the haters hate. I call him hero, martyr, and champion.

IMO, as a man, Jack Johnson was the greatest boxer of them all. Good looking dude, clever enough for a patent, dominant champion, and unstoppable juggernaut of individual freedom. He may not be my father but I am his son.

Has nothing to do with the questions you avoided, chump.

Who were the powers that be that didn't want the fight in New York, Montreal, and Chicago.

I guess this is where you get your caretaker to put the top on your bottle and tuck you in.

I don't know where you want to "put" this opinion you have about Johnson Pep... The truth is, Johnson was a strevedore, and conducted himself much like other men who were tough, physically minded, confident in their ability to throw hands, and charismatic. In this case why should Johnson have to take the moral high ground? For a moment lets say he wasn't a Black man and conducted himself as such... we would have a typical Pugilist.

Johnson had every reason and right to be an individual and not a "Black" individual (so to speak). If America could nt deal with his individuality then maybe that was a good lesson for America. Ali got the exact same critiscisms as Johnson BTW, and on the flip side? equally egregious IMO, were those who called decent men like Fraizer and even Louis, Uncle Toms.

Johnson was just a product of his environment... Not everyone wants a cross to bare.

OK here's one for your national hero . . . his first white wife eats a gun after he beats and leaves her . . . a mere three days later he metaphorically steps over her corpse and publicly announces his engagement to another white woman . . . six months later puts her the in the ER after beating on her . . . all the time pretending he is a victim and just can't figure out why white society hates him.

You guys have a funny definition of 'national hero' - Wife beaters!

Should I childlessly mock you by inserting a laughing emoj here? Or is this the spot where I should suggest you are a racist. I m not sure of your BS rules. (Pun intended.)

P.S. When asked why he married white women Johnson didn't hesitate to say "all Black women are thevies and whores."

Because he was champ and dominated most. Next question.

Do you save that energy for Dempsey whose wife "tripped over a door frame and broke her jaw."

I doubt that reflected on all White people. What do you think?

Certainly his drawing the color line didn't reflect on all the White people that wanted the Wills fight, now did it?

Throwing around accusations of being a racist? Yea. I'm definitely laughing.

By the way, it's impossible that Jack Johnson is responsible for it taking so long for another Black Heavy getting a title shot. The simple proof is the amount of the public that were begging to see Wills get his shot.

The public was ready as far back as '23. As were commissions and, of course, promoters.
