Seems that the camp has been more intense and Cotto has really taken this training to heart. Can't ask anything more from MC.
I anyone can embed the video the better. I do not know how to do it.
For the non-spanish speakers here's basically what he said:
Diaz said that they are working in the sand in order to strengthen MC legs. In addition it also helps for leg quickness.
The interviewer tell Diaz that he noticed that Diaz was instructing MC to punch in combinations to the body while at the same time walking to his side.
Diaz says that for a counterpuncher, it is extremely important for MC to know where he is standing throughout the combat, to move in a circular manner, to work on the inside, etc.

You could see by the way they are training more or less what's his strategy going to be.
How could ayone believe it would not benefit cotto? Steward's a proven trainer. If he does not improve under steward he would not have done better with any other trainer.
Mosley lost get over it. Close fight, Cotto won.
cotto lost. mosley got robbed in MSG like dirrel got robbed in rottingham.
Write a letter to the New York State Athletic Comission to change judges by compubox. Until then, Mosley lost.
Compubox does not take intangibles into consideration. That's why Mosley lost. Judges saw Cotto dictated most of the pace of the fight, thought he was the most effective fighter, hence he lost. Not that difficult.
Youre compubox analysis fails completely in the fact that compubox does not determine fights, judges do, since they have the brains to take into consideration the intangibles of a fight mentioned above.
Bye. Keep trolling with the "Cotto has no business losing to a former 106 lb fighter"......lol...BS
Can't see how anyone can have Mosley winning that fight. Scored that fight yesterday and only gave him 4 rounds and 2 of them were close. Only gave Cotto 1 round that was close.
Even when Cotto started giving lateral movement, when the HBO announcers got on Mosley's nuts, Cotto was counter punching the shit out of him.
It's plain and simple. The judges thought you lost, so you lost. There are means through which Mosley can appeal the judges decision, which he did not bother to. So you lost.
the main criteria for who wins a round is clean effective punching. mosley won more rounds because he landed more punches per round and he landed more power punches per round.
ring generalship is a distant 3rd or 4th criteria next to clean effective punching.
check the link in my sig for details. if you don't believe my analysis is correct or if I miscounted... feel free to analyze them for yourself!
Well the judges thought otherwise. They saw Cottos punches were more "clean effective", in addition to ring generalship.
The numbers are there, but the most clean effective punches were thrown and landed by Cotto, as per the judges discretion.
Nothing wrong with Mosley, he just lost.
Translation
"I was among the many who thought that at first glance fight against Manny Pacquiao would be very difficult for Miguel Cotto. But, after analyzing several Pacquiao fights, I concluded that Miguel Cotto should win the fight by knockout. If it goes to a decision, it will be tight, because Pacquiao is a fighter who throws a lot of blows and he can steal the attacks in the early rounds. But what most do not understand is that Pacquiao is not really a boxing guy. What happens is that he starts throwing punches like a madman, out of control. However, Cotto has the ability to stay calm and find his moments. He does not let go and keeps going forward. That will be the key to Cotto: do not lose your temper and go at your step, until you connect. One needs only to watch the first fight of Pacquiao vs. Juan Manuel Marquez, who is a fighter which has much fine boxing technique that the Filipino boxer, and look what happened. Pacquiao threw him three times in the first assault, but Marquez kept working until the fight ended in a draw. Cotto not only has that fine boxing skill but also has a big advantage in weight. Manny Pacquiao will go on the day of the fight at 147 pounds, while Miguel Cotto should go up like in 158 or 160 pounds. So Manny is going to hit Miguel, but not going to hurt him. It will be very difficult.
Many people are carried away by what happened in the recent fights Cotto at 140 pounds. The reality is that the weight was no longer adequate. It was a lot of sacrifice and he did not have the strength to take the punches. At 147 pounds, Cotto has been punished, but he has has absorbed them without problems, has not fallen and, with everything he has received, he has been successful. "
This is a Bulshit thread. Talking about how Calzaghe clowned Roy and shit. I suppose you did not see the end of the first round when jones just stood up in the middle of the ring staring at Joe after knocking hm down with all his cockiness and shit. He just got his ass handed just the same as jones did it to many other fighters and taunted them in the same manner. Karma's a bitch and it got jones in the worst manner ever, in his final fight.
He does train pretty well, but not from a P4P perspective. I mean half of the footage was playing golf, louning in the pool with friends and family, and having BBQs with hot dogs and all (something fighters should not be eating in camp).
First the golf playing was on Sunday, which is Cotto's day off (He trains from Monday to Saurday). The narrator clearly stated that.
Second I am not 100% sure but I believe there was no footage of Cotto eating hot dogs. I did see his mother with a hot dog and surely his fat friend pobably ate like 10 of them but no instance of cotto.
Also, fighters do not train 24/7. Do you think they train 12 hours a day. Absolutely not. They do have their spend alone time and they may choose to do whatever they want to do with it (just as pacquiao likes to go Karaoking, playing basketball, or having meetings with politicians). If Cotto likes to have a splash in the pool and have some fun then good for him. I think it is rather good for him to relax his mind also.
roach is right... all santiago does is holds the mits for cotto to punch. he's a a glorified moving punching bag. that is all.
How do you exactly know that? Because Roach said it? Good research on your part. We do not know what kind of strategy they have planned during their camp to assume he is a shitty trainer
I know because that's all he does in the training vids. you can tell cotto is the boss and tells santiago how to do his job.
the strategy that they have planned out is probably all cotto and his pops. santiago has no real voice in anything.
like i said, he just holds the mits while cotto punches... his job description doesn't go any farther than that.
Assumptions
It was not luck at all. Cotto timed the jab specifically at that moment in which Clottey initiated his attack (Cotto KNEW that in that moment Clottey would be off balance, hence why there was no luck involved, it was great skill by cotto to identify that moment and throw his jab). Pullcounter assumes that by Clottey being off balance this is all luck, that is where he is wrong. He is off balance but it takes great skill by cotto to identify that "off balance'' moment and throw the jab.
As to answer the thread, I do not believe pacquiao can do it. First because he does not have an authoritative jab by any means. Second it takes great timing and skill (and TECHNICAL boxing knowledge) in order to throw the jab at the perfect time. Pacquiao is far from being a technical fighter, he is very athletic and skilled, but he definitely lacks the technical side.
I swore pullcounter was talking about a different fight.
jaja. I understand you man. I normally do not post much, but pullcounter is completely off. He does not understand that by ANY means this was not luck. Was clottey off balance, yes. But it was cotto who was able to time him when clottey was off balance (You can see in the replay that as soon as clottey makes an intiation to attack cotto immediately throws the jab, thus timing it perfectly in order to cause the knockdown). There was pure intention by cotto to throw that jab at that SPECIFIC moment in time when clottey attacked since Cotto knew Clottey would be off balance. hat is skill and timing my man. Nothing to do with luck.
Pullcounter will never understand, you explained it to him various times in a moronproof manner, after that if he does not understand oh well, not much you can do
