Is it right for a champion to act like Calzaghe did?

RJJ could have quit Lamon Brewster style. Thats a knockout, technically. Possible, but highly unlikely. The only thing I knew Roy had left was his heart anyway. He's just never really had to show it to us until now.

For the first few rounds it was cool. But after a while it got tiresome. That's Joe. He can retire now and pretend that he beat the best.

i didn't find it tasteless at all. what's wrong with you people who did? it's boxing, it's a showsman sport also. joe c. had every right to act the way he did. it showed his confidence and he deserved to have as much fun in there as he did. he gave jones his props and a lot of respect during the post fight interview. calzaghe didn't make me a fan of his with his victory over roy, but he put on a great showing even though his style is so goofy looking to me.

Calzaghe does not deserve some of the criticism he's receiving for what he did in the ring.

I'm a RJJ fan but c'mon, Roy would have done the same to Joe. It was entertaining.

If you paid $50 to watch this you should have done it with the clear understanding that you were not paying for a boxing match so much as to "see RJJ get his ass kicked all over the ring" 3. The only thing that would have made it better would have been if Calzaghe gouged the cut with his thumb or maybe nailed Jones with a vicious nut shot halfway through the 12th round. Smiling in a sick sadistic way as he pounds a former boxing great who is a shell of a his former self. I could maybe understand if Roy was a mean guy, but being that hes not...I don't see why someone with class would do that. This is different than the clowing Roy does, first of all Roy does it in a light hearted way. Even against Tito, you could tell it was just for show and they were smiling about it. Secondly he hasn't done it against a fighter on the way down, while he was still elite... To me it was classless. Shit even Lampley said, alright Joe you've proved your point. Roy regularly went out of his way to not only beat but clown and demean opponents who long before fight time had no business in the ring with him. That he ended with it done to him is not anything less than poetic justice. Pretty much. I didnt like seeing it but he had it coming. His clowning early on in this fight sticking out his tongue and smiling alone earned him that. Let alone years of taunting shitty fighters.

Joe is a marked man so its best he retires. I felt he was rubbin' it in a little too much for someone who gave him the UPMOST respect during the pre-fight build. Joe is a great fighter.....but he's not the ultimate professional like many would want or try to make us believe. He's a professional prize fighter crying out for recognition, that was all it was. Calzaghe has never been a fans fighter, he's always been a bit off - just a bit too cocky but without being funny, clowning but rarely in a way that endears people to him. At least thats the impression I've got from following his career. Cracking fighter though - putting that chin on a guy as awkward and active is one combination.

Calzaghes behaviour was an utter disgrace, he is always the same. I dont actually mind showboating when its omeone like Naz or Eubank and its all part of their persona, but with Calzaghe its just so false and doesnt fit in with who he is. He just comes across as a complete and uitter disrespectfull arse, I was hoping Jones would land one on his chin and knock him out but it waas obvious it wasnt going to happen as he is so far past his prime.
