I read somewhere that after cycling, boxing has the highest level of PED usage. I can't specifically recall the basis of the conclusion. I think it was in the Toronto Sun a few months ago. But you can't believe everything you read too.
You'd have to believe that they were primarily talking about Al Haymon fighters.
I think the article was more so directed to the history of abuse in the Olympics.
Floyd fought him toe to toe and still won 9 rounds, minimum. is this thread for real?
Where did I say Cotto won? Floyd wasn't able to move as he usually does because of Cotto's ability to cut off the ring & use angle's to hit him. The whole premise of this thread is that because of the Cotto fight people were saying Floyd was looking old & didn't have his legs anymore. How many people did you hear speak on Floyd standing toe to toe in his last fight but he still has the legs for this fight against Robert?
Try to understand what it is you're looking at before making comments.
Guerrero cut off the ring vs Floyd, Floyd slipped out when Guerrero pushed him against the ropes. Floyd just stood there when Cotto backed him up against the ropes. If you can't see the differences in Floyd's strategy then you don't know what you're watching. People said Floyd's legs were gone vs Cotto, but now you same people are saying "It was Cotto cutting off the ring"
lol
Floyd dominated that Cotto fight but when he was able to get Floyd against the ropes he kept him there with effective aggression, cutting off the ring to get him there in the first place & by using angle's to land punches. As I stated before..... what was the media, fighters etc saying about Floyd before the fight? and why?
Floyd fought Ortiz in September 2011, a 9 month layoff before Cotto. I don't discredit Guerrero, but he's not better than Cotto. I lol'd when people thought he'd do better. Mayweather put on a masterclass Saturday night regardless however.
Floyd has always taken off a decent amount of time between fights, but he was still always hitting the gym & boxing. With his stint in jail there was none of that for a few months..... so that was what was difference this time around but he looked amazing definitely.
If you watch that fight, Floyd wasn't using his legs that much at all. He invited Cotto to fight him at the ropes at times. Some times he would just sit there and wait for Cotto to throw shots at him while he was on the ropes. Then after the fight Floyd pretty much states that he chose not to use his legs because people would have said it was a boring fight so he wanted to duke it out with Cotto.
Just because he says that doesn't mean it's the case though. It caused people to question his legs regardless of what he said. There were times when he invited it, but there were also times where Cotto kept him there.
Regardless I'm excited to see Mayweather back in the ring. I truly believe that Cotto was a big part of the overall tone leading up to this fight.
LOL @ Cotto being a HOF'er
credit for what? making Mayweathers nose bleed? you guys are idiots. Castillo, Corley and De La Homo gave him fits. Castillo arguably beating him, yet people only seem to bring up Cotto who at the most won 2 rounds.
You gotta give it up to Emanuel Augustus.
Going through Cotto's career, why do you feel he isn't a future HOF'er?
I wouldn't mind seeing Floyd retire undefeated. I'm tired of only hearing about Marciano & Calzaghe..... I know there is other undefeated fighters but damn.
Well like you say in your video. he's doing things that seasoned "pro's do". Effectively using his opponents defense against him. With the high guard much like Winky used, with blocking the vision, he opened up the door for offense to the body. He saw that opening. If he was against someone with a different defense I think he's smart enough to decipher the puzzle to that as well. He was able to box on the outside & the inside. He didn't waste energy nor did he get bent outta shape when the pressure was applied on him.
He seems to have the mindset & ability to take away his opponents strengths i.e. dismantle the jab if his opponent is a jabber, etc.
Punches you don't see hurt. ask anybody that has ever been hit with a shot they did not see. ask paul williams, ask pacman, ask montiel, its the reality of boxing and the point of the video. Chad got setup
They do in fact hurt. Enjoyed the vid you posted on Ward's training technique. You definitely know you stuff. My man.
I think Ward would win vs. Dawson at light heavy.... but it would be a 12 round decision. I'm a huge Ward fan & I don't even like Chad, but he was drained for the fight. At light heavy 12 round unanimous win for Ward.
With the head slides as well...... I feel I get a lot more leverage & therefore power with the body shots since I'm transferring my weight...... & as you mentioned you're outta the way for counters etc.
None of those opponents really do anything for me. Floyd really doesn't have much out there that I think a lot of people are really interested in seeing. I'd like to see him fight Martinez @ 154lbs but that won't happen.
I think Ward's better on the inside. Would have been a great fight that only true boxing fans would get. I think Ward would have been a little too busy for B-Hop & won on points in a close fight.
I think it would be a lot closer of a fight than you're giving Canelo credit for.
Personally I'd like to see Mayweather against Bradley but I doubt that will happen.
The 168 division is not a weak division. Lots of great talent there and Ward cleaned it out, plan and simple. He just makes em' look like nobody's, y'all must have forgot. Ha ha.
What's happened with Ward reminds me of what happened to Hopkins. Hopkins had no love until he beat up the big names like Trinidad & then De La Hoya. Ward needs to keep winning & he'll get his big named opponent.
It's weird though that he's a gold medalist, you would think he'd be big time with huge payouts already. He's gonna have to turn it up on the marketing scale I guess.
I hope Pascal wins. Hopefully he learned some things from the B-Hop fights & will pace himself a little better instead of loading up on every punch, save some of that mustard for when it's needed.
