Sad but True. If Rigo/Flash is an intelligent boxing fight mainstream fans are bored

Unfortunately this could very well be the case and it's sad in advance that people won't appreciate all of boxing. This happens in all sports. Soccer games end in a 0-0 tie and alot of people would think that was just a waste of time. To fans that know what is going on, they could have found the game very entertaining.

The thing is, so long as boxing is on late saturday nights the casuals won't tune in to begin with. It's one of the worst days and times for TV.

They are 122 lb fighter what do you expect. it's a extremely relevant mainstream fight for hardcores.

if main stream boxing fans are bored with this fight not excited they dont know the sport strait up who cares. its gonna be a high level chess match some say boring i say exciting I think Nonito will push the action if it becomes a chess match. I think Rigo needs to earn Nonito's respect early to keep him at bay otherwise Nonito will stay aggressive. Nonito already said Rigo respects him too much, meaning Nonito probably doesn't have the same level of respect for Rigo as Rigo does for him. Either way Nonito hasn't been in a boring fight yet, so even if this fight gets too technical for the casual it'll still be entertaining :boxing:

Chess matches can be exciting as long as both fighters are engaged. If both guys are trying to win the fight. no doubt any fighters can just trade till someone falls i enjoy these kind of matches boggles my mind people dont appreciate high level fights like that.

Personally I enjoy both type of fights, action/high paced and intelligent/technical. TS is absolutely right though, main stream people won't appreciate an intelligent/technical fight. Much like everyone they love to see someone get KO'd. Hopefully we get a little of both tonight.

The reason I choose rigo is because he is very happy in a boring fight, whereas nonito seems to feel the pressure of being p4p. He opens up to get fighters out of there and leaves more openings to be countered. That being said, Nonito has proven he can open up and still win while Rigo showed, granted versus lesser competition, that if you leave yourself vulnerable he will capitalize. The most important thing to me is that Rigo will counter the dumb sh_t. arce wanted a war, vasquez wanted a war, mathebula got into a fast pace, nishioka ran and Narvaez was in a shell, Rigo will not run he'll stay at a reasonable distance and slow the pace. Nonito is going to get countered and I doubt he can goad Rigo into a war, so what's he do when he can't dictate pace? Hopefully not leaping hooks.

I think the fact that both guys are highly skilled and possess massive power makes for compelling television. If you're expecting a back and forth slugfest, you're probably not gonna get your pickle tickled very much besides a potential KO. Who knows though? Bradley-Prov didn't look promising on paper and we got a barnburner.

absolutely. i love being wrong when i forecast a boring fight. We simply don't know till after my friend.. only hope for the best possible fight. Normally after a few rounds fans can cop a feel of the fight tempo but it can always deceive late.

It can very well be an intelligent 'boring' fight ala Jones vs Hopkins 1 or end in an explosive dramatic ending like many feel it can. Truth is we can all assume its a bad styles match up but really can't claim this until after. Question is will you be here post fight admitting how wrong you were if ends up a barnburner? Certainly the boasts will be loud if "boring". absolutely. i love being wrong when i forecast a boring fight.

I highly doubt a great deal of casuals will be watching tbh. Outside of nationalistic fans that is (pinoys/cubans)

The power between the two is why even if it's uneventful, I doubt I'll be bored. Knowing that one punch could have the other guy stumbling or even down at any moment, I'll be glued waiting for it. Maybe in retrospect, assuming it's a boring 12 rounder with no exciting moments, it will be disappointing. I don't expect that to happen, one of these guys is doing something brutal to the other.
