The trick to selling this fight is a strong undercard. Golovkin vs. Jacobs Crawford vs. Broner Stiverne vs Big Baby Miller Kovalev vs. Stevenson Briggs vs. Haye Callum Smith vs. Badou Jack Thats 25 million in purses. At $40.00 a pop it would do 2 million viewers, I know I'd buy it. 2 million buys might be low too. The **** talking and hype would be through the roof. I'd pick Jacobs, Crawford, Stiverne, Kovalev, Briggs, and Smith to win.

I think that when GGG broke Brooks orbital bone in the 3rd and Brook signaled his corner, they should have stopped it then because it was only probably fractured or cracked. He went fighting and the thing ended up shattered, and probably beyond a repair job that would enable Brook to continue a boxing career. I'm pretty sure that Brook's career is over.

Look at Ortiz's lst of opponents on boxrec and their records. Just off that alone I would have trouble ranking Ortiz in the top 50 heavy's.

I'm thinking that you guys are so high on Duhaupas because he isn't the kind of guy who is ever going to get knocked down or knocked out, because he takes good shots. Remember Tex Cobb? Duhaupas is another Tex Cobb, but Duhaupas hits harder. He walks you down while he takes shots, and then tries to get off when his opponent stops moving. All you have to do to beat Duhaupas is keep moving and keep throwing punches, don't let him catch you laying on the ropes or in a corner. Duhaupas is just another Tex Cobb, pure and simple. Whyte is a pure boxer, he knows he isn't a boxer/puncher, so he would keep moving and box Duhaupas, and be happy to outpoint him.

Thurman KO's Garcia is less than 6. Matthyse had an eye problem in the Garcia fight, why you gonna be down on a guy that got an eye problem when he was winning the fight too? I think Thurman KO's Spence in less than 6 too. I think both Spence and Garcia should have to go through Porter to get to Thurman.

Ortiz is something like 25-0 with 22 KO's. He fought nothing but tomato cans so far. When he was 18-0 he fought a guy making his pro debut. Jennings is his toughest test to date, and Jennings is waaaaay better than anyone Ortiz fought. At least fight and Eddie Chambers or Cunningham to take a step up. I looked at Ortiz boxrec and I understood why a year ago Ortiz was ranked around #50, then he made a jump to the top ten off nothing but his record - which was against ham and eggers.

I think Ortiz is over-rated. But I'd like to see him fight a guy that wants to fight him. I'd be happy to see him fight Mansour, Briggs, Miller, Whyte, Breazale, Gerald Washington, Izu Ogonoh, Ruiz jr, Stiverne, or Haye. Then move up and face Povetin, Pulev, Wilder, Joshua, or Klitschko. Any one of the first 10 guys i mentioned would love to fight Ortiz.

I can't see Takam winning, I think Duhapas stops Povetkin like but who knows Here's a poll for the Takam/Duhapas fight Duhaupas isn't good enough to stop Povetkin. They do look smallish, but thats because he probably keeps a tight fist at all times. That would also explain his lack of good defense because he is a little more tense, so he just covers his face with his gloves for defense, rather than catching or blocking punches. And it also would explain his shorter punches because he isn't loose enough to extend because his arms are tense.

In that photo GGG's fist looks tight, and Brooks looks loose. Look at it that light and its understandable.

I think it would be a great fight, but I think Jacobs can win a decision, or even stop GGG real late. Golovkin doesn't seem to pack a wallop late and he does seem to tire. Jacobs does have a suspect chin, but his recuperative powers are like Larry Holmes or Evander. Don't know how GGG recups.

I didn't know much about him so looked him up. Carlos Monzon was from Argentina and held the MW title for 7 years. Had a record of 87-3-9. His losses were early on and he avenged all of them. He had a history of domestic violence and was convicted of killing his wife and sentenced to 11 years. He died in 1995 at age 52 in a car crash during a weekend furlough. So his athletic prowess and boxing skill was without question. His behavior outside the ring, as it is with many in the sport, was tragic. True champions will be those that can perform and balance both of their worlds inside and outside of the ring. First to answer the question, yes there are many former middles that could beat Golovkin. Monzon, Hagler, Hearns, Leonard, Mugabi, McClellen, etc. As for a boxers behavior outside the ring goes. For some reason getting hit in the head makes a man more aggressive, and some more passive. When a guy gets knocked down or knocked out, one of the symptoms of a concussion is irritability and anger. As well as headaches, sensitivity to sunlight, nausea and so on. So anybody around them could get KTFO at any time. Fighters show up, fight, go home. Then they show up at the gym a day or two later and get paid, then they go on their way. They get no medical or psychological care - that costs money.

This fight looks like a mismatch, I would rather see Carlos Takam fight Edmund Gerber. Ortiz should be gettin it on with a top 10 fighter. Ortiz vs. Big Baby Miller would probably be a better fight.
