Out of the heavyweights I'd like to see a peak Tyson go up against the greats of yesteryear. Who wouldn't want to see the '88 version of Tyson go at it with the '67 Ali?
Gatti is no coward, but HBO prize him as a cash cow. They won't want to stick him in with Tszyu when they can carry on making good money watching him fight 2nd tier opponents like Branco.
I'd pick Trinidad. Tszyu comes a close second. The lay off would have affected Trinidad's style more than the search and destroy style of Tszyu. which is why he gets the nod.
I think The Fan Man died recently... Did anyone else hear about that?
The Tyson bite is the craziest moment in boxing. It was such a big bout and the papers ran that into the ground afterwards. One of the big papers put it on the front page, with mike wearing a Hannibal Lector mask. That was a crazy week...
I haven't heard nothing on Tua... He seemed to lose his way. I stopped being excited about him way back. He was an exciting prospect at one time though, but he lost a lot of stock after the Lewis bout. If he comes back and exterminates Ruiz though he'll shoot straight into my good books again.
I don't think Hatton is going to get any better than he is right now. Warren needs to let his charge go and challenge the best of the division. I think it'll be a great fight. I'd lean with Tyzsu, but i've never seen Hatton ever troubled and he has fought some names. It wouldn't be a walkover by any means.
I love Gatti, but the Dorin fight hid the fact that he is on the slide. Tyszu knocks out Gatti in the final third of the fight when he stops using the ring.
Ali.
'The Greatest' doesn't suit him half as well as 'The Louisville Lip' does.
And i don't think he would have beat Foreman if it wasn't for the crippling heat of Africa. Ali couldn't punch his way out of a paper bag. The guy fell down exhausted.
Tzsyu is the top dog until somebody takes him down. Cotto needs to earn a shot at him by fighting a higher calibre. Cotto has bags of talent but needs to prove himself. Cotto V Hatton would be a good fight to sort out the pecking order to line up a shot at the champ. Tzsyu can take care of Harris while he wait.
I'm a Gatti fan but think he's a car crash waiting to happen. The moment he gets in with a top-tier opponent he loses. The networks won't allow that fight to happen anyway so lets stop dreaming.
MAB performs a lot better when he sets his own pace. Manny wouldn't ever let him with the crazy pace he sets. I'm a Barrera fan but i just think Manny is all wrong for him... Still, after Saturday i'll never write him off ever again. Besides, if JMM beats Manny we'll get MAB Vs. JMM - and i'd much rather see Barrera in with him than Manny.
Tyson looked good against Williams until he stopped throwing punches. The best he'd looked for a long time. The moment he hurt his knee was plain to see during the fight too... So who knows? He is way past his best and the odds are stacked against him being champion again but the division has got a talent famine right now and stranger things have happened. I'm not expecting the Tyson of '86 to reappear though... In fact, i'd be happy for Tyson to fight bums to be honest - just so the guy doesn't end his career riddled with debt. But i can't bring myself to write him off just yet. Yes, i am a Tyson fan.
Danny is no bum.
He got the shot at the title for beating the shell of Tyson but he's as good as everyone else outside the top 5 of the division. We've all got a better chance of seeing if Vitali really is the top dog after this fight. Let's be honest, the Sanders fight certainly didn't tell us anything. All said and done though - Vitali by KO late in the fight.
Yeah, i'd like to see Hopkins and Tito do it again. And who knows, Hopkins had got to grow old sometime hasn't he. Tito could be in the right place at the right time...
I'd like to see Hopkins stick it to Tito again though. He won me some money in their first fight. Cheers Bernard!
