Kovalev was well up into the fight. I dont care how people scored the fight as a whole or who they had up, I just find it odd that most Kovalev fans had him winning the second half or had the second half even.
Ward won at least 4 of the last 6.
34 days left for Mainevent to make an offer for the rematch, they still havent officially done it, wonder if 34 days is more than enough time to get a new network for the fight. (date must be before feb 4)
Quick stoppage? Can you even read? I never said quick stoppage.
I was pointing out Kovalev exactly what you said. Kovalev fough until he was done and it was stopped.
The other clown said he quit. I never criticized the stoppage.
You just worded it a bit weird is all.
How did Kovalev quit when he kept on getting back up and fighting, again and again after getting knocked down several times, until the referee stopped it?
lol you calling it a quick stoppage?? Kovalev was done.
They want to do the bare minimum in boxing. Kovalev one of the guys they have featured is now perceived to be done so they want no part of this fight.
How about put this with Stevenson/Gvozdyk? Or too expensive for that type of card? If not, you could bet your money Hearn will go hard after this fight. Could lead to a unification bout with his fighter Beterbiev.
Beterbiev and Alvarez have the same trainer
Marc Ramsay
Same promoter
Yvon Michel
and same advisor
Al haymon
so if kovalev doesnt win i dont see a beterbiev option
yeah but kovalev was never a big draw for HBO. it's no loss for HBO they get better ratings with the superfly cards. HBO need to bring bivol on board.
Alvarez vs Kovalev didn't even do that much better than Kovalev vs shabransky. I dont know if Kovalev will try to go on a new network. HBO is able to match deals if they want if another network picks it up.
Duva with excuses. Gassing isn't an excuse it wasn't a pure domination and a lucky punch. I'm sure Kovalev will say lucky punch. And his fans will agree. And call this a Robery
will be a very big win for Gvosyk if he can beat Stevenson in Quebec city. I give the Nail the slight edge. but he can also be knocked out within the first 4 rounds.
Duva said Kovalev over trained and took a lighter training camp.
Klimas said Kovalev barely trained and just had the toughest training camp of his career.
I believe Kilmas in this case.
As for Resume the 4 champions go.
Alvarez beat a better version of Pascal who was also his sparring partner for years before he retired.
Finished Bute. Knocked out Kovalev
Gvosydk Beat Stevenson who was better than the forum ever wanted to admit. it was a close fight at the stoppage Gvosdyk probbaly should have been up 6-4, he has an issue with range and maybe with south paws too, he might pack a little china too.
Bivol has wide but boring wins over Chilemba and Pascal but it was a dug Pascal up out of retirment.
Beterbiev looks great but he doesnt have a trademark win really.
my order based on resumes
Alvarez
Gvozdyk
Bivol
Beterbiev.
I know this forum will disagree with Alvarez because "he was losing vs kovalev and landed a miracle shot he has no chance int he rematch"
Not based on Resume I think Beterbiev is the best but he probably never gets a match.
While it would be a great fight (imo Alvarez>Bivol), it will never be a superfight. Too foreign, and not well promoted, in a non-glamorous division.
by resume so far yes. But, I think Bivol vs Alvarez is an intresting matchup, Alvarez still isn't a true power puncher. his regular punches arent hard, he has 50% ko although his knock outs are legit knocked you out not mercy stoppages. He can turn over his punches but his regular punches don't have a lot on them he'll throw in a right punch out of no where. he cant even always land it. the reason he couldnt land it on pascal is he sparred him a life times worth.
I think Alvarez is underappreicated and the Kovalev crush isnt over. I think Alvarez will be the betting favourite in the rematch despite most people thinking kovalev was winning easily and ate a lucky punch. Kovalev's promoter is talking ****, Kovalev says very little he jokes with Alvarez and doesnt look like a killer.
Everyone predicted gvosdyk would ko stevenson early and easily. The fight was razor close (maybe because he was weary of Stevenson power) yeah he hurt Stevenson badly but he punched stevenson 20 times unanswered and considering how bad the forum claims stevenson is and how bad his chin claimed to be.
Thats who he gvosdyk beat the guy everyone said sucked. Is Stevenson a good win now?
It's sad to see that people are still counting gvozdyk out. Bivol was cautious of Pascal's power until the last bell. He refused to commit to anything big for fear of being countered. Gvozdyk is on a different level that Pascal. Younger, taller, more reach, power in both hands, good footwork, and solid defence. On top of that he took Stevenson's best shots and didn't crumble. The nail will be the last one standing at 175.
Your comment only makes sense if you admit stevenson is better than the forum gave him credit for. If you think stevenson sucked then gvosdyk beat someone that sucked.
He has a bad promoter that isn't trying to get him fights. And on top of that he isn't worth the risk. He got a low ball offer from Kovalev where he wouldnt have made much more than he makes vs nobodys. To be fair 175 is deep and nobody is facing anyone. No one has a signature win really.
I am so frustrated as a Badou Jack fan; I feel like Jack will have to pitch a perfect 8 out of 12 round fight to get a decision and Jack simply isn't good enough to do that. I honestly wonder how many times Jack has laid down to bed thinking "if only I won some of the early rounds I would've won the fight". Being a Jack fan is suffering because he makes rounds way too close then what they should be, in fact if he didn't go down in the 4th he might've won it on the cards.
All I have to say pascal for sure won the first 5 rounds. I thought it was going to be a draw with the 12th round knockdown
the case sounds strong if he didn't do it. it will cost a lot in legal bills to get him off. unless he has an aleiby that he wasn't even in that location or never met that woman before.
As I move over here on this island by myself.....
I think Kovalev wins this rematch. I think Alvarez is a decent fighter, and no one can take away that great KO win. Also, history has shown that when a fighter immediately rematches against someone who has KO'd him, he usually loses even worse. But I pretty much gave Kov every round as the fight went on. I think Alvarez is fairly limited, and Kovalev still has more offensive skills and talent. I do not see Krusher as a top 175 champ anymore, but I think he has more than enough natural talent to rebound from this and beat Alvarez, who had one perfect shot to erase the fact he was absolutely losing the fight.
By the way, I have been wrong A TON the last month when picking fights. Just hoping for the law of averages to come back my way so I look smart again.
well I don't agree at all that Kovalev won every round I felt he looked shakey in the first 3 then looked to take over the fight after he hurt alvarez in round 4. but Kovalev was still outlanded in round 5 narrowly. Kovalev was looking to take over then the start of the 7th he looked like he had lost a lot of steam off his shot. I expect alvarez to start winning round by the 10th with it being too little to win on the cards.
Just before the knock out Alvarez would Punch and stay way too close waiting for the next punch. turns out what he was doing was timing a knockout shot and Kovalev reaction time was so off.
