Adonis Stevenson says he needs "just one punch" to defeat Oleksandr Gvozdyk, while the Ukrainian believes the long game will lead to victory. They'll fight for the WBC light heavyweight championship on Saturday at the Videotron Centre. Defending champion Stevenson (29-1-1, 24 KO) knows undefeated Gvozdyk (15-0-0, 12 KO) will be a tough opponent. Click Here To Read More]
Hopefully he wins this weekend so Jack can finish him off next year. Tired of this dude, seriously. He fights once every 15 months or so, then disappears, just to come back and promise us knockouts against mandatories.
Enough of Stevenson already....he's held the WBC title hostage for nearly 6 years now.
Hall of fame for cowards and pimps. Freezing a title for 5 years gets you indicted into the hall of shame. A Haiti disgrace.
Been a fooking while dude... Comes from a poor background...And while I don't agree with his actions while in his youth, he served his time, found boxing as a redemption tool and lived a normal life since then...As much of a normal life being in the spotlight will bring you... Now I don't agree with his King behavior and I'd like him to be more articulated with the media, but this his him trying to build a legacy at 41 and mostly achieving it... You can't take that away from him...
I was disappointed in his output against Jack. Either age got him, or Jack is way better than I gave him credit for. I have really thought about picking Gvozdyk. But, I feel riding with Stevenson for one last time makes sense.
Stevenson wins on points. Hurts Gvozdyk enough to get it done. I just do not think he has the finishing energy like he used to, but he still has power and Gvozdyk has the rep as a fighter who can be hit. But Stevenson has honestly slowed down. I will give him an UD though.
will be a very big win for Gvosyk if he can beat Stevenson in Quebec city. I give the Nail the slight edge. but he can also be knocked out within the first 4 rounds.
If Gvozdyk takes any shots as hard as he did in the 12th vs Mehdi Amar he will definitely be going to sleep. Got reckless going for the finish and was consequently nailed numerous times.
If Stevenson wins it'd be great to see him fight Bivol. Maybe that's possible in the streaming-driven boxing landscape.
yep, and one punch changed the whole round in 2 different late rounds.
gvozdyk know how to survive hurt like badou jack did?
unless he stops adonis early he's going to get hit and hurt at some point during this fight.
As I recall, Adonis cracked Jack with a few body shots that changed the flow of the fight. Stevenson is right, he can knock out pretty much anyone in the division with one punch. He also gasses quite a bit in this stage of his career (see Fonfara I and Jack fights). Gvozdyk is a very good offensive fighter but as I recall he was dropped against Karpency.
I see Stevenson winning by 5th round stoppage.
Didn't he say that against Jack?
