To the tabloid Abraham says:
"Should I have waited untill he raised again? Every fighter must take his chance to land the KO-punch. As the referee did not go between us I felt it was OK to punch."
Agreed...
actor labeauf (?) just doesn't have it, yet he still ends up in big payday movies, it's who he knows growing up as a child actor.
It's all about that "it" factor. Some people have it and others don't. The same thing with singers and actors...etc
Pacquia and Mayweather had 5 years of hype and anticipation which is why it was bigger than it should be. I think the former biggest/highest payday fight before had the same type of years of anticipation and hype (Lewis/Tyson). Only reason why Mayweather/Pacquia fight was so huge was because of Obama. Seriously. People and the whole world started paying attention to minorities.
He weighed less than 200 at one point in time, right? Didn't he start out as a light heavyweight?
No, weighing 220 pounds as a pro definitely does not make you a light heavy weight lol
The subject of the thread is agreeable. Only thing I liked about Klit's Ho, was when he got pummeled by the South African Freddie Mercury (Corrie Sanders).
Did anyone here even knew Corrie Sanders died in 2012 at the age of only 46 due to an armed robbery where he got shot? I had no clue. This was never in the news just because he isn't American. It's kinda sad.
Only in South African where a group of blacks can shoot a white man and not a cry foul of racism is involved. If Sanders shot at blacks it would have been a racism issue.
Anyway, King Meat, that pic of Floyd and Manny is that real or photoshopped?
Furys a troll. And i like it
Russians are taught to be polite.
Anyway, that Mexican cartel pic you have on your Avatar, he sure doesn't look like the same guy they keep getting caught as he keeps on escaping. Maybe the DEA is simply trying to stay in business by having a double to play his role? Kinda like the whole Bin Laden thing (did he even exist?). Now, ISIS is more mainstream...
I agree wholeheartedly. Wlad was great and I respect his accomplishments, but he was boring as all hell in and out of the ring. I hope Fury beats him again in the rematch
Ali moved liked a light weight because he is really just a light heavyweight. Agree?
I usually agree with your posts man but you are dead wrong on this one. Fury is nowhere near Ali in terms of charisma or natural talent. Ali had a way with words that Fury does not. He was also a great physical specimen. He was a heavyweight who moved like lightweight. He probably had the fastest feet of any heavyweight ever. Ali is also probably one of the only top heavyweights to never get KO'd. Yes, his corner stopped a fight once but he was never KO'd.
Fury is awkward, cumbersome, and says incredibly stupid things. His reign at heavyweight will likely be a short one. He's getting so much undeserved hype for beating a Vladimir Klitsckho who was clearly passed his best.
first of all, any fighter that is not a heavyweight that spars with a heavyweight is a moron. Sparring sessions are like real fights with just padding on your head and extra padding on your gloves (16 ounces for sparring). The headgear are nothing more that an extra layer of padding, it can cushion, but any heavyweight punch is still brain rocking. It's one of those superstitious trainers that tell a smaller guy to spar with a bigger guy to "toughen you up". It doesn't work. Tough vs. skills are different things. Gerald can't move heavyweights, heavyweights can move Gerald, if they were sparring with real intentions. That did the damage IMO. From the 2nd round, eveytime the G man got hit with a right hand, he appears surprise and freezes up as if it really bothered him. Benn hitting behind the head is something to ponder too if that also did it. I saw big punches behind the head atleast 5-6 times. Several upper cuts on the inside. The G man just could not see it. I saw an interview about Emmanuel Steward when the McClellan name was brought up, he said he doesn't even wanna talk about it. Makes you wonder what Steward knew all along, was the G man done? I mean a 9 month layoff? Something was going on.
Back then it didn't matter as much if you had losses on your record. Now people are obsessed with 0 losses
well that was back then. we are in the NOW. get with the program.
:boxing:
great post, and to be honest i think he may have been injured as well and it was all those shots that brought upon his demise...i can remember gerald going back to the corner and i forget what round and him saying to his corner that it felt like the water they was washing his head off with felt like it was on the inside of his brain so if anyone destroyed gerald it was his corner...and another quote after the fight after gerald was stretched out benn said that gerald absorbed a lot punch powershots meaning that he was definitely hurt because he knew what he was throwing in there and connecting was something else...i can remember watching it also and at the time i favored benn just because i thought he was stronger and not to say gerald had the fight won not for the ref but, you and everyone that watch that fight knows that benn absorb a lot of shots also but, was able to recover quicker...benn was just amazing in that fight...
I can't see Benn being hurt in the fight. He was more overwhelmed for the first round that's why he was able to pace himself and get back right away on the 2nd round. The overwhelming 1st round got him out of the ropes.
ok last time I heard you can only fight once a month, except for state of MS, which you can do once a week? Commission rules change whenever a new douche takes over. This is Tyson in 80's New York, when NY was still NY. Shouldn't be a surprised. There a ton of rules now.
No, it's because he was young and knocking out cans. It's fairly common for a prospect for have 10 fights in a year.
Oh? And where does the money go to? The amateur fighters? From what I heard we don't get paid. :liar:
Who does the money go to then?:wtf:
Am fights aren't free to attend.
I never shat on Philly entirely. I was curious about it. Saw the taylor vs. Chavez fight. The commentators seem to exaggerated Meldrick being from Philly so I was curious as to why there's an exagerration with Philly fighters when we all know a KO punch/puncher from ANYWHERE int he country/world is just as vicious. I hope this is not Philly pity?
No he's just pissed because he made a thread earlier about where's the best place to live to train for boxing because it's to cold where he lives. I said boxing is not supposed to be easy, and that some of the best fighters came up out of Philly, so now he's trying to shit on philly to discredit me.
I never got the whole stop hating thing. My comments never had anything to do with "hating", especially my comments that you quoted. I asked if amateurs get paid or where does the money go to. Plain and simple. I forgot you're from Philly. This misunderstanding on YOUR part might cause a shootout. Your bad.
:bottle:
This guy mustve gotten beat down by someone from Philly. Bc he is really bitter about something. Also the money goes toward the place it is held at. The community. Remember there are alot of parts in Philly that dont have money so alot of that money go to there. So stop hating my man.
well yeah a ghetto like Philly would pack a crowd. anyone turns out at a free fight. The pro fights too, if the tickets were bootlegged. LOL. No wonder it's packed.
do philly fighters have to nutt on philly cheese steakes is that why you like it so much? I mean, it's just bread, meat, and slices of cheese. Quit exxageratin'. Subways got the same stuff.
Steve steaks is really good. Jims is good aswell depending on where you are visiting. They are both in the NE. But also old city has alot of good eats.
I just get the feeling that people make Philly seem like it's the best place to come out of as a boxer. So where is Philly at now? Like I said...exagerrated. Any place can be good. Same way B Hop would exaggerate his claims of being "from the streets" or serving prison time. The 10 year sentence he exagerrates when he only served about 2 years.
I'm surprise in '86 Tyson fought twice in Nov and twice in December. I had no idea a pro fighter could fight twice in a month. Myabe that was in the good old days. Now it's all commissioned with a watchful eye. Sad.
Only once against who? This is a shock, I thought Gatti was worth atleast close to $20-30 million. Maybe more. For his weight class. Naseem Hamed made more and hes in a lower weight class. Nas from what I heard was worth about $90 million? or is it $70 million?
Amir Khan from what I been hearing is making more money yet he is not even an American TV hit, yet. Arturo was HUGE, wasn't he? Somebody screwed him, including his wife. I thought his wife would get him killed cause he had a ton of money, but for $6 million? DLH's wife should kill DLH, he's worth more, you know?
Gatti loved to party. Good for him, it means he enjoyed his shit to the fullest.
AG only fought on ppv once, so 6 million dollars after everything is said and done is excellent. Every mangaer and/or promoter should set their boxer up with an accountant and someone that will invest their money wisely.
**** that bitch too, she shouldn't get shit and her kid should get taken away too.
no the thrid person in boxing is the referree u idiot.
I don't have TV thank God. This thread about the fight you all paid money with to watch is more entertaining than the fights YOU JUST PAID TO WATCH!!!
:loser:
Only an idiot will think like that.
Of course ur an idiot. So no wonder.
Fightfans are the 3rd person in boxing.
Without them boxing wont exist.
Are u really that stupid or something?
No fans = no sport
People dont pay to see a prime guy run from a past-prime, overmatched and slow dude.
Didn't know he had another wife before this hooker.
A fighter takes MOST, manager takes 33.3%, a trainer takes 10%. The rest is for the fighter. "Entourage" or "ass kissers" is UP TO YOU. If your "entourage" is as big an ego as MC Hammer's, you'd be broke as...MC HAMMER! or Mike Tyson!
:newbie::owned2:
Well he had an ex wife who probably got a few million herself.
A fighter only takes home about 25-30% of his purse. By time time his entourage, management and the taxman gets paid, they don't get as much as you think.
well probably so, but not if Hopkins try to "give a younger brotha a chance and pass the torch to a young brotha". The way Hopkins passed the torched to Jermain Taylor. It was a bullshitt move. Same thing that Mike Tyson quit on his stool against an Irish guy so Mike can pass the torch and pay tribute to his Irish mentor Cus.
Yeah I said it. I think old man Hopkins would beat Chad Dawson.:boxing::boxing::boxing:
