I can see the reasoning behind fights going 15 rounds, but I think it would shorten boxers careers and cause more serious injury as in theory, a boxer could be hit 25% more over the course of the fight.
Naz was good at avoiding single punches, but I do not think he would be able to cope with Pac swarming in with punches flying from all angles.
Also, as he showed in the Kelley fight, his chin was a bit suspect.
If they were to just take the Marciano from the 1950's and plant him in the ring with some of the all time greats like Ali, Foreman, Frazier or Tyson I think he would lose because of how far training and dieting has evolved over the years.
However, if he was around fighting at the same time as the boxers mentioned above, I think he would certainly hold his own.
One things for certain, they would be some cracking battles!
Micky Ward had an impressive chin.
Of the current boxers, Carlos Hernandez showed he had an amazing chin when he kept walking through Erik Morales biggest shots.
I do not think he can ever seriously be considered for one of the premier heavyweight titles, but I still think he can beat a whole hell of a lot of the heavyweights out there. To me, I thought he was going to stop Williams in the first round when he started unloading before Williams managed to hold on.
Williams has got to improve on his defensive skills a bit. Even though I was impressed with his win over Tyson, he was getting caught quite a lot.
If he tightens that up, I think he has an excellent chance of winning.
I think the whole Gatti-Ward trilogy is worth a look.
Benn-Eubank I is also a cracking battle.
As far as fights this year, Pacquiao v. Juan Manuel Marquez is an excellent fight.
I agree, I will not say that Eastman could have won the fight, but he could have made it a hell of a lot closer on the scorecards.
Although he was chasing Bernard about a lot, I still think there were various opportunities throughout the fight when he could have let his punches go.
I think De La Hoya is at least worth being considered for a top 20 spot. I know people say he lost all his big 'career defining' fights, but to go up the weights as he did is something special.
I have a sneaky feeling for Williams. Straight after the Tyson fight he said he was not happy with his defence in the first couple of rounds, and if he can improve on that he has a chance.
It's so sad that he is still talking of carrying on. What is it going to take to convince him to call it quits.
I mean, in his prime Donald was not fit to lace his boots.
Yeah that was him.
In fairness to Eastman though, I saw Elliot fight Brian Magee at super middle and Magee struggled, even getting knocked down in the first round.
I think it is hard to look good agains someone like that.
I am also from the UK and would love to see Eastman win, but after watching his last fight against Jerry Elliot, I just cannot see it happenning unfortunately.
I would also agree, although the cracks with Jones started to appear in the first Tarver fight.
I also think Tito coming back will end up being something that is looked back on as being something major.
In terms of boxers produced compared to size, I think the top countries are Mexico and Puerto Rico.
I also think Cuba deserves a mention when you look at all the superb amateurs they have produced. Just a pity more didn't turn pro.
When you look at the great heavyweights that have gone before like Dempsey, Louis, Marciano, Ali, Foreman, Frazier, Tyaon etc. and then compare it to the current crop, I don't think there is any comparison.
I can see him getting a major title shot before Hatton, or at least a shot against one of the big names before Hatton, as he is willing to travel anywhere.
I apologise if I have upset you Frank.
I am not saying I think Witter is a better figter than Hatton, because I don't think he is. The reason I thought he may fight a major name before Hatton is due to the fact, as you say, that he is not seen as such a risk.
i hope he is a good fighter, but i dont' care if he gets knocked out in 1 round by klitscko or rahman or whoever, i want to see that fucking monster!! just once in a big fight!!
Likewise. I would just love to see how one of the premier heavyweights (funny I know) would deal with him.
Unfortunately the clip was only very short, so you didn't get the full effect of what the commentators were going on to say about it, which would have likely been funny.
