yeh agree with all of the above that hatton would overpower and outwork cotto who would get stunned like against torres, and get punished by a better finisher in hatton, over before the 8th round, lets just hope this fight happens!
for me the only guy out there with the balls to take boxing on to a new level, like tyson and others have in the past decades, is Hatton. He's a boxer in the most competitive division who is willing to take on all comers and leave his homeland to do so, and therefore should be given more credit than he is on this site. The only other fighter around at the moment who is in the same bracket is Lacey though he faces an interesting fight with joe which can only be described as a 50-50 fight, any one who see's different must need their eyes tested as these are two equally matched warriors who will in my opinion create the fight of 2006. Dont label joe as a person who avoids the big fights, he has been ducked by champions more times than he has pulled out of. ( The only pull out being against Glencoffe Johnson with a dodgy back very late which i think he admits himself to being a big mistake), ure views?
Mayweather is the obvious choice with his talent, but lacks the public appeal which will not come until he takes part in a career defining fight. ( hatton, judah?( kostya's 2 round sparing partner!, or possibly cotto all at 140/7)
Glad Hatton is staying true to his words and looking at fights in the US. I think the Gatti fight would be a great start to boost his popularity in the states (it would be a great war and certainly short(5 rounds max)) and then hopefully lead to a unification with Cotto, as Mayweather doesn't seem keen on coming back down to 140 to face Hatton.
some of the ideas made above that hatton would be schooled by mayweather are ridiculous, he is a much better fighter than that and deserves a bit more respect. In my eyes this fight is at most 60-40 in mayweather's favour though with hatton's hunger to fight and beat the best around at 140, and not running scared mayweather style to fight at 147 with boxers killed by tsyu in the past (mitchell, judah) this would be a difficult fight to predict, though my gut says hatton to just wear floyd down to secure a late stoppage, thats if the fight ever happens with floyd's stupid demands and lack of desire to beat the true champions of the best division out there.
nuthugging? dont make me laugh, just offering a point of view just like ure crazy suggestion that floyd just has to simply turn up and win.hattons better than that and the common belief that mayweather is invincible and will be able to not get hit for 12 rounds is laughable. There is little chance mayweather will stop hatton inside the distance (i agree if it goes 12 rounds mayweather will more than likely have the decision),then hatton has a rasonable chance with his power and unrelenting pressure and should not be dismissed like your one eyed views.
Hatton's due back in may not july so hopefully one tune up fight, to get used to training and fighting in the states and everything that goes with it, then the fight everyone wants to see can happen. Lets just hope it happens!
there are better fights out there for hatton than witter, it would be a step back for ricky to stay in the uk and beat him. Cotto ideally has to be the next fight for hatton to sweep the division and put pressure for floyd to come back down to show who's the boss at 140 and hopefully make the fight of 06 happen.
Im not a fan of either boxer but surely audley is goin to put this blown up joke away early on , williams obviously has lost the plot if he thinks he will last the fight weighing 20st his only chance is a one punch finish early on.
agree with u, none of these boxers are afraid of ne fighers just lookin after themselves financially. in my opinion hatton pbf is 50/50 and hatton beats ne other fighter below 147 as he will prove in the next year, even tho his next fight may dissapoint all fans, u must be patient as the big fights will arrive soon as ricky doesn't let us fans down!
