114-113 Barrios? What fight was the 2nd judge watching?... Great fight though, Barrios ended the fight swinging wit pride! Guzman definately earned the title at the end of the day!
I think juarez is going to win this fight much more convincingly this time. Barrera's gonna be doin his thing though, but Juarez is going to get an early finish in the 7th.
Yeah i agree there has been some bobo cards in recent history. Living in England and hyping fight parties up just to get people over at 4am to watch a shoulda been good fight then alas watch two dudes dance around the ring (out of respect) is a hard job. Almost as bad as tailgating in the rain at a Saints game.
Wow Vasquez did a 180 after that knock down earlier to come back and win every round and the fight after that. Also right after he took that ball shot like a champ!
Froch should calm down a bit. Why the hell is he so angry about Groves? Of course Groves will not say something like: "Well, Froch is a verry good fighter and will propably beat me but at least i will try it and get my bum-ass in the ring with him" or some bull**** like that!
As a boxer you always need to believe you can win the fight!
I can't agree more here. If your purpose as a prize fighter is to go lick lick shine your opponents boots then you should probably rethink your career. That said - Groves is not as seasoned as Froch, neither has he been fighting elite fighters consistently - let alone at all, so Froch is an obvious favorite. If Groves can stay away from getting Bute'd, then his movement and speed advantage could net him a UD. The odds of that are slim on paper, but his boxing advantage could make it interesting.
I'm amazed at the ignorant comments made by people on this site. I begin to wonder if children are posting 75% of the comments on here. Let me figure this out.. Tyson is kissing the UFC's ass because he is reaching out to a fellow New Yorker, or because Mike Tyson is a well known avid fan of MMA and the leader of said sport (UFC)? And to everyone putting there two cents in about what Tyson says is irrelevant: Take a look at yourselves then realize that no matter how much that man has tarnished his career with the bad decisions he's made - He has accomplished more in his short period of fame than you will in your entire lives. Have some respect.
I think it's time somebody gives Amir Khan a mental evaluation. I guess somewhere in the creative side of his brain he thinks that getting KTFO by people gets you closer to FMJ. I agree with SR. I think FMJ just needs to get this dreamer in the ring so Khan can get some more sleep and come up with his next amusing idea...
Lol @ 20-0 2kos. People who don't know One Time would think Porter may go up against a feather fisted fighter. I love this fight, its a huge test for both guys!
Schaefer says Porter and Brook will happen like the Thurman fight is a given or something... C'mon now...
I actually think that Floyd tested how far he could go with Maidana and laid in wait to set up his timing. Late in the fight, Floyd figured out Maidana's "thousand hand slap" and began to dominate in significant strikes. I watched the fight in a bar full of people who wanted to see him fail, so everytime Maidana threw a flurry of punches they ooed and ahh'd. Who cares if you throw 1000+ punches? If your punches aren't landing and your opponent lands more than you - why should you get the win?
That being said it created the illusion of a close fight (which it was close), but people need to realize that is usually how it works for Floyd. If you aint knock'n him out by RD6, you better hang em up, because FMJ has you all figured out. In turn, with it being a "close fight" it has now created a hunger for $$$rematch$$$ It now has the posibility of monetarily surpassing the Canelo fight. The only thing is this: How does Maidana improve on his technique? He surely won't outbox FMJ. Throw more punches? No. He has to reinvent himself to be more accurate and I doubt that will happen in the short amount of time between the two fights.
It is boxing though, so anything can happen; but I truly believe it will be a whitewash this time around. FMJ UD (shutout).
I agree with Nigel Benn. Hatton doesn't get half the respect he deserves especially from my fellow Americans. He's an exciting fighter and he's what boxing needs. Present fighters like Hatton, Pacquiao, Calzaghe, Pavlik, Judah (when he's focused), to name a few are what fighting is all about. They put on a show worth watching. Once Hatton beats Castillo he'll have done what Mayweather Jr. couldn't do. Don't get it twisted though on Castillo's weight issues with Corrales (twice). He was far embarrassed for that, and he will be coming out with "nothing to lose" draped over his shoulders in his fight with Hatton. But Hatton will prove to be the better fighter (write that down). If Hatton doesn't get the respect he deserves after the Castillo win then it's not Boxing that's dying, it's the fans intelligence that's dimming.
For your b*tch ass: If Mayweather buys his gym, then why would Garcia need to be banished? If you buy someone's house, do you then banish them? And what would stop Garcia buying another gym with the money that he sold his last gym for?...This is multi-levelled dumbness.
For the thread: I like Garcia's approach - he generally plays his cards just right. Floyd wanna bet 5% of his money vs. 100% of Maidana's money, but doesnt want to bet 100% vs 100%. I like how Garcia illuminates this for the simpletons.
Lol! Genius... Yes because that kind of bet makes a lot of sense... And I'm wondering how somebody on this post knows the size of fmj's junk... Smh
Waah! I can't believe he lost to Jesse brinkley..:( He was really going somewhere blah blah... Dude if he trained harder maybe he would've won... Thought of that?
I'm with Lil Floyd. Who cares about a belt? As long as you leave the ring knowing you just smashed the guy in the other corner, who cares about the trinket. There's too many belts in boxing anyway. There should be ONE champ in each division, all the whiners should just work that much harder to get to the top.
I'm All American, but definitely going for Khan in this. He knew there was something up in the Peterson fight and besides the retard of a ref giving two points away at critical moments, I had Khan ahead. He deserves his title back and I feel sorry for Swift because I'm sure Khan has some controlled rage building up inside ready to explode and now he's justified in his recent history it has to add to his confidence. Maybe after the loss, Garcia will make an RnB song instead this time...
All that aside, Lil Floyd gives Khan a lesson if they ever throw down, they are on different levels - Floyd will consume him.
Khan The King of the glass house talking about Thurman's power not always working. Khans jaw isn't always working.
He should worry about The Special One who's been legitimately calling him out and stop hiding from the inevitable already, its embarrassing.
I find it amusing that somebody could say this version of Marquez would beat Mayweather Jr. Is it becasue he beat someone who isn't even in the same realm as Mayweather stylistically speaking, or is it because his counters looked beautiful, were well timed and he mixed his punching nicely upsatirs and downstairs? Well Marquez is one of the best in the game at counterpunching and technical fighting, but alas for your sake he isn't on the same level as Floyd. Don't get me wrong though, Marquez looked phenomenal. If his own trainer jocks Floyd over Marquez and Marquez himself admits that he cannot beat Mayweather, that should tell you something...
Some of these writers' have no idea about sentence structure, let alone spell check. I think you'd at least need a communications degree to snag a journalistic career, but if not - Please let me know where to apply for this position. I'm pretty confident my boxing knowledge is more savvy (try me) and I can write better than most of these guys, on my worst day.
That being said, this fight was pretty bland. Neither fighter poses much of a threat to the top three HW's.
On to the next.
...Alvarez basically burned himself with saying "I have the opportunity to choose my opponents like Manny and Floyd, but I choose the most dangerous opponents." I guess he didn't consider himself "the most dangerous opponent" for Floyd when they fought. smh...
Ohhhhh now he'd be willing to fight him.
lol...No. If you're referring to Ward talking about a fight with Bute, read the article again and you'll notice that nowhere does it mention he is willing to fight him "now." What he does say is basically what he's said before - Bute needs to prove himself. Now what that means is getting through his next fight and avenging his loss to Froch...then a fight would be possible. Hopefully Bute bulks up a little though and keeps his speed, because in his fight with Froch he looked very frail.
I don't think Alexander or Brook would be close to next step to Fmj. Alexander provided a snoozefest in his fight with Bradley - which he lost and Bradley was schooled by Pac (regardless of what the corrupt judges posted as scores). Brook just got bloodied and fully tested by a relative nobody. While Brook did find it in himself to come out with the win, it was against a guy who, while game, was visually not elite.
I wouldn't rule out a fight with Floyd, but the beastly Aydin would have been pot shot by Fmj from the second round. Aydin's go to tactic was move forward and put everything into his right hand. That's snack time for Fmj. Much props to Guerrero's chin tho, he took some heavy shots and stayed on his feet and showed veteran smarts by clinching when hurt. Fmj and The ghost are both boxers, but two completely different levels. If by chance the fight does materialize FMJ UD 117-111.
Yep,Wlad is shook alright.
...yes because HW champions who have dominated the division for a decade get real shook when they fight against guys not known for KO power. Especially ones unable to KO Tony "The Tiger..."
Go live in Puerto Rico Danny Garcia and take up citizenship there. If you're born in America - you're an American. If you don't want to embrace that, then go move somewhere else. I might as well call myself English because my roots are from there. That's the problem with this country everyone wants to be from somewhere else - there's no unity.
Hey I know you may have some kind of bitterness towards the greatest country on earth, but get your facts straight before you start showing hatred towards the US. First Stevenson is Haitian born and resides in Canada. 2. Learn how to spell Sergey's name right before you start jocking him like that. Retarded...
