This fighter hit the nail on the head. How can u not agree with this?
I think the most logical way to kill the drama between Pacquiao and Hatton is to settle it the old school way. Stipulate a 10% marginal split (55/45), with the winner taking the lion's share of the split. I think all of these mega-fights should be governed this way because it would eliminate the Oscar De la Hoya's of the world who continue to take mega fights because they know win, lose, or draw, they'll command the biggest purse. I think if two fighters know up front that the winner would walk away with the bigger slice of the pie, they'd come in a tad bit hungrier, (no pun intended). This fight is a bit misleading because Pacquiao is perhaps the bigger global star, but Hatton represents a market that will bring in a huge 'paper trail' and it's a demographic that he totally controls. So considering that both men bring something to the table that the other can't, I think letting the winner take the larger split is easily the best way to draw a bona fide conclusion. Both men have great pride and both men view themselves as 'the man', so if you're that sure of your game, why not let it speak for you! Right?
i agree with you 100%
i've been singing the same song for years, true prize fighting is exactly what boxing needs....a few other changes would help too but this is a biggie.
70/30 split for the winner that's it.
if a champ is involved and is going to be defending his title he could get 2-3 mil. as a signing bonus for taking the fight butthe rest goes into the pot.
it shouldn't matter who the main draw is, if he's the best fighter the nhe will get the big money......it's simple, but as already pointed out the sport is far to corrupt for this to happen.
Mike McCallum...had he been a couple years younger i think he would have beaten jones in their fight. he was 40 when they faced each other in 1996 and he had roy hurt.
it's a good fight to watch if you can get it.
a prime holmes vs. a prime evander would be a nice fight....but i don't think a prime lewis would have stood a chance with a prime holmes....i give holy a much better chance against any of those fighters than i would lewis, lewis doesn't have enough heart or skill(no movement what-so-ever)....i would have liked to have seen lewis and bowe when he was in shape,i'd take bowe in 10.
what's up guys i'm new t othe forum, but not new to boxing...
i have always felt that bhop was the best of the 3. the combination of his skills & his knowledge of the ring thrown in with his ability of being able exploit his opponents weakness puts him on top.he is one of the smartest(ring wise) fighters ever.
The fact is the list goes Jones Jr. B_Hop Toney
What B_hop did this week was extrodinary and da dude still got skills!
However what Jones Jr. did throughout his career was extra-extrodinary and just becuz his lost his last 3-4 i wont let that take away from what he did the 48 fights prior, the guy for a long while was being looked at as a possible GOAT if not THE GOAT, and not to mention ALI, also lost 3 of his last 4...... And even if Jones Jr. loses say another 2-3 times we can all just say he hung on to long and that might be just what he will do but still, his #1 outta the 3 he beat both of um!
BUT I DID VOTE FOR HOPKINS ON THE POLL
i don't think the ali comparison is just....yes ali lost 3 of his last 4, but the fighters he was fighting were younger ,stronger and faster and ali stood and fought.one of the 3 losses(spinks) was a split decision that was later avenged with ali beating spinks to regain the title...jones was fighting fighters of the same age(johnson) and older(tarver). in the 3rd tarver fight he ran all night long. the losses may not tarnish his "legacy", but his track meet with tarver should. that fight showed what kind of heart jones really had(or didn't have). i actually think jones was exposed in a much earlier fight with a much older fighter in mike mccallum.
1.have the judges watch the fight in isolation away from the crowd and on monitors so they all have the same viewing angle of the fight.
2.i agree about the champ defending his belt 2-3 times per year, but he should never fight anyone ranked below the #2 spot.
3.prize fights...all fights should be split 70/30 or 60/40 with the higher % going to the winner of course. if this is a championship fight the champ gets a guaranteed 1 mil for accepting the fight.
4. the weigh in should happen the day of the fight just a few hours before. that way you would have fighters fighting closer to their actual weight.
5. their should be a commissioner/president of boxing something similar to the nfl/nba/mlb/ with universal rules.
the worst thing that could have happened did and that was for holyfield to win that fight. i'm a holyfield fan but he really needs t ogive it up. it surprises me that they continue to give him a license.
1.holyfield vs. dokes
...if you didn't see this fight, then you really owe it to yourself to obtain a copy of this fight and see why this is one of the best fights ever.
2.hagler vs. mugabi
3.leonard vs. hearns I
this is why boxing needs a better scheduleing system. he should not be allowed to fight for a title after being inactive for so long, his ranking should drop and active fighters should move ahead of him in line.....yeah i know it will never happen because it's all about the money.
I don't know about that.
The Ali that fought Holmes would have been destroyed by Prime Mike.
you misunderstood me......what i was saying was that any tyson(prime or prior) would have been destroyed by a pime ali.
in my best howard cosell voice.....down goes tyson!!
evander should have thrown in the towel 5 years ago. in his fights with lewis you could see he was having trouble pulling the trigger. ...he would see an opening, but everytime he tried to get in he couldn't, shots that would normaly land for him were way off the mark.his timing and his reflexs are shot to hell and he needs to retire for good.
he had the speed, he had the skill,he had the heart,he was fearless,he had the chin, and most of all he had the intelligence...no he was not over-rated, and he would have killed tyson at any stage of tyson's career.
Lou Dibella came across as an idiot, which he obviously isn't, but his arguments were terrible.
agreed, lou dibella is an ass. i think joe rogan's "boxing is gettign swollowed " comment was directed at lou dibella more than it was at the sport of boxing....and it only came after dibella began attacking rogan. for dibella to refer to the ufc as human cockfighting was more disrespectful than what rogan said(imo).
