Whats the Greatest fight of all time

If you don't mention Castillo-Corrales I in your top 2 or 3 1) you haven't seen it :( 2) want to act like an old timer know-it-all :rolleyes: 3) hate Corrales or Castillo or both :confused: . thats not neccesarily true. sure it could be up there, but it doesnt have to be. Some of the greatest fights have to do with the history or controvesy surrounding it. however, if we are ranking it by in-ring action, which i dont believe we are doing, then i think castillo-corrales 1 would be the single greatest fight of all time, no contest. the 10th round was the single most exciting and dramatic moment is sports history. SPORTS HISTORY!!! I was listening to Kellerman today, and he was talking about the UFC and kellerman said he like UFC a lot but he liked boxing better. Then some UFC fan calls in and says how he saw a great UFC fight and says that it was the best fight ever, boxing OR ufc. Then kellerman yells at him and asks if the man had seen corrales-castillo 1. the man replies no, he had not, and then he hangs up. Kellerman goes on to say that that fight was one of the greatest sporting events that has ever happened. :)

But if "greatest" also includes the more subjective items like "drama", "anticipation", "atmosphere", "hype", and "global awareness", then sorry, Thrilla wins hands down. I don't want to say you had to be there, but frankly, you really had to be alive then to appreciate it. Think about the hype surrounding the World Cup Soccer Final, and you get a sense of what the buildup was like all over the world. And the fight itself was an absolute war, between two guys with maybe the biggest hearts ever, with real blood and guts animosity between them. And finally, we're talking heavyweight championship of the world, back when it meant something, in fact everything. There will probably never be another fight to rival that one, in terms of both the global significance outside of the ring, and action inside of it.

If you don't mention Castillo-Corrales I in your top 2 or 3 1) you haven't seen it :( 2) want to act like an old timer know-it-all :rolleyes: 3) hate Corrales or Castillo or both :confused: it was 10 rounds of non-stop action, which is 7 more than Hagler-Hearns. it was evenly contested the whole time, which you can't say for Benn-McClellan, Thrilla In Manilla, or Chavez-Taylor. it was for a championship, which most of those other ones were. it had the most dramatic comeback of all time in round 10, something none of those other fights had: a comeback. you can't tell me this wasn't the greatest fight of all time (in terms of action, not politics or worldly affairs) and expect me to take you seriously.

De La Hoya vs Quartey was real good too. I thought Quartey won but i wouldnt call ir robbery. Jesus Chavez vs Carlos Hernandez deserves mention too.

My sig says it all for me. easily. I think Ward-Gatti is the only one that comes close and that was fought on such a low level it didn't mean anything. I mean Gatti lost for crying out loud and went on to win a title in that division lol

HAGLER - HEARNS. 3 rounds of nonstop barbaric boxing. hagler hearns gets my vote as well. i am also very fond of robinson lamotta 6

For Drama and Action and significance, it would have to be Frazier-Ali I, IMHO.

hagler/hearns is a fight i can watch a million times and it'll be just as good the 1 millionth time as it was the first time i watched it. so short but soooo sweet.

ali-frazier 1 by far the third one was better IMO. both absolutely amazing fights

Tyson vs Douglas is the best fight that I've ever seen just because of the magnitude of what Douglas was doing as each round went on. The 8th and 9th rounds of that fight are the most exciting that I've ever seen in boxing.

Ali/Frazier III is the definition of what a linear championship heavyweight fight SHOULD be
