I was not expecting to see Ruben Guerrero's face.
Cotto all the way.
As far as Paulie and McGregor? McGregor easily.
McGregor is not a boxer. He is an MMA fighter, he doesn't commit to his punches like a boxer. It's ingrained in his brain to look out for other things and use other tools to land his strikes. He can hit you with a decent shot though when he commits to it.
Paulie though? Geesh...I don't know what to say.
You should ask your mom if she shares any desire for the BBC like Thurman's Polish/Hungarian mother. What if ur mom confesses she slept with a Joshua type fellow before you were born? That means your skin rubbed against BBC powers which is why you inquire about race all the time!! :)
Lol, Anthony Joshua has the power of the Irish coursing through his veins just like my man Ward! Nice shout out!
I didn't know that. Most black people I've gone to school with or worked with always had a "Johnson" or "Sullivan" or "Workman", "Smith", "Jones", etc. never seen a Ward before except for Andre...
Most have English, Irish, or Scottish names passed down from American slave owner families. Most are English names.
During slave and segregation times the Irish were considered the trash of society. Some still had slaves though. There are quite a few blacks with a surname starting with Mc. Like Darren McFadden, Oliver McCall, ect.
They both have iron jaws. Golovkin is bigger. I think he hits harder but Hagler has better combinations. I'd love to see that fight. Hagler is the better all round fighter but he sometimes makes strategic errors like trying to outbox Sugar Ray and giving Duran too much respect. Very intriguing match up.
If Hagler can neutralize that jab and get past it, I see him laying a beating on GGG.
Popularity of the UFC. Boxing gyms used to be all over as it was seen as the true combat sport. Now MMA gyms are everywhere.
Whites that like to fight think it's the more effective fighting. A lot of Black's and Latino's are thinking that way too. You see a lot more in MMA now. Boxing is losing a lot of potentially good fighters to it.
So 'great' and 'suck' are the two options, huh?
I ain't gonna get into this sh1t with ya man. You wanna go thinking that all Mexicans are JCC and all black dudes are SRL whilst all white dudes are Brian Sutherland that's your business.
Whatever your opinions, though you can't really deny the relative lack of success of US whites compared to others - so, are you saying you put this all down to 'hunger'? I mean yeah, the Ex Soviets had it tough, but here in the UK I don't think we've any more absolute poverty than in the US - though we're getting there. What is about US whites in particular that makes their success so uncommon in boxing?
They are losing to the superior American black athlete. The average black American has around 24% white dna. I don't know what it is about the mix, but it creates an elite human sports machine.
The Brits have a much smaller black population and even less of a mixed population. Some of your best fighters are mostly mixed though as you can see by the Kell Brooks, DeGales, Eubanks Jr, David Hayes, and Anthony Joshua's. Most of your other good fighters at the moment are travellers, who are raised to fight.
English whites are not having to take on as many of these elite sports machines to rise to the top.
Take this post with a grain of salt. I'm being facetious. Lmao!
That Robinson was the best PFP boxer in history is an opinion and not a written in stone fact. The fans an experts of his day declared him the best PFP and few have ever dared question it since then. He lost 19 times and not all of those losses were when he was past prime. He lost to the welterweight champ when he was the middleweight champ. He lost every round at age 32 to a club fighter named Tiger Jones and never rematched him. He was great but not flawless or unbeatable. From what I have seen of him on film I like a few boxers better than him PFP.
He fought so often though. Sometimes days apart. Certainly he must have had continuous injuries, overtraining, or not training if injured and just going in on fight night, or been sick at times, ect. That is just an insane pace in the 15 round days too.
I think you are right as far as P4P, Prime vs Prime. I think there are a lot of fighters that could probably hang with him.
That career though. A fighter would have to have one hell of a heart as well as the skills to put up with what he did as a fighter.
no, there is no a-side and it came from roger!! filipinos soldiers believe that if they take "agimat" that it will make them invisible so they can continue to fight the war even after being shot.
this is why roger said he saw ak-47 bullets bouncing off they azz. he heard "agimat" and his crack head mentality kicked in and he thought he heard a-side meth instead. LOL!!!!!!!!
LOL! I liked my take better. They gave May that good meth and that is why he was running all over that ring like a madman. He was dodging and blocking shots that weren't even coming.
They gave Pac that Russian Krokodil **** and that's why he was following May around like a zombie not throwing enough punches.
I won't dog the old legend for his opinion. I strongly disagree though.
Andre Ward is an Olympic Gold Medal Champion, Super Six winner, 2 division champ. He has some good names on his resume.
His name will always come up in real boxing fans conversations. Whether it's about controversy, who he could beat from other eras and so on.
Really dudes? Canelo learned a lot from Floyd. His defense just carried him through a fight with GGG. He works hard at it and he looks a lot better than wannabe Floyd's like Broner and Berto.
GGG worked the jab, was busier, looking to fight. Canelo looked really good at times, but looked to win running away. It was close, but he never looked like he wanted to take it to the MW champ. You need to take it!
He has a pretty good chin. I was more impressed with his body and stamina though. Canelo really went after his body early and gave up on it. GGG just kept coming till the end.
GGG may not be the most athletic, but you can tell he really trains his ass off. He has elite stamina and recuperation. Almost Floyd like.
Hey, Larry, GGG has the power and jab. Bernard would try to make it ugly, but it would be a great fight.
Now get your caramel, redbone ass on the GGG bandwagon, whiteboy!
Another fighter with a hell of a chin was Oscar De La Hoya. Besides his boxing talent he was gifted with a granite chin. Even prime Manny couldn't KO that drained son of a *****.
Canelo will be back in May for sure. I imagine he is just tired as hell right now after going almost immediately into training camp after the Chavez Jr. fight.
This has been said for the last 9 years.
Everyone laughed at "ASIDE METH" when Roger said it.
Floyd took heat when he said "everyone knows Philippines has the best peds".
Now here we are and Manny admitted to using Shabu (meth).
And Manny was CAUGHT trying to use TORADOL.
Funny at how accurate Roger was.
So again, would you feel better if Roger called it Shabu or TORADOL?
That Shabu makes a lot of since. Do you think that is why he was able to punch so fast and maybe helped with his early weigh ins?
I know for sure it had to have helped with the long gym workouts he used to have. They said he used to be a gym rat. That motherfocker was tweaking his ass off in there. That Shabu must have helped him develope his raging hurricane style.
there is no such thing as a-side meth!!! there is a myth that if you take agimat pronounced "a-gi-mat" that you will be invisible. crack head misunderstood "agimat" with "a-side meth" ahahahh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Clearly he knew what A-side meant. I don't know who coined the term A-side, but I first heard it from the Mayweather's when negotiating a fight for all the advantages. I felt like Roger was doing a little self projecting when he accused Pac of it.
That's why the Pac fight took so long to make, because they didn't want him using A-side meth. That advantage can only be used by the A-side Floyd and Pac was the B-side in this one.
There you go. A new take for you fanboys/haters that love going at each others throats over these two great fighters.
Floyd and Manny are both innocent until proven otherwise. In a sport supposedly rampant with PEDs they both stood head and shoulders above their fellow boxers all the while moving up to face bigger challenges. PEDs or no PEDs these guys were clearly the best. PEDs have been around in boxing since forever. You don't do what they did in boxing without being elite ATG fighters.
Remember when they busted Lance Armstrong? Remember how many guys were also using below him? I don't remember how many people they went through to reward a new first place. It was a lot if I remember right.
I think Ward would stop him, a little bigger and better in every department.
I thought G beat Canelo but showed a lot of flaws when reflecting how he would go with Ward.
I think you are 100%, brother. GGG is a great fighter. Works his ass off, great boxing fundamentals, and a lot of power. He lacks the athleticism though to make him elite. He is damn good though.
