Wow so McGregor struggled with Paulie who had freaking jet lag lol
Really? I took from this the opposite - That Conor had Paulie wanting to quit early on and then put it on him again last couple of rounds. I would've thought that even a "jet-lagged" Paulie would outbox mcGregor pretty easily
The fight this weekend was as lopsided in favor of Manny as Floyd manny was in favor of Floyd. I hope they don’t fight again but it seems clear the pac fanatics have worked themselves into a lather thinking if they fight again it will be different.
I guess you have to admire their persistence even if it’s misguided and rooted in slurpage. They just will never admit Floyd is just better and they will spend any amount of their income to watch them fight over and over rather than just accept Manny is 2nd best.
Floyd wins again and the same people will claim he’s scared of a 3rd fight. Floyd may only have a 10th grade education but he outsmarts the pac fans and his haters everyday.
Could be wrong but I don't recall Pac getting rocked v. Mayweather - did he? Pac wasn't in survival mode v. mayweather like Broner was.
I don't want to see them fight again bc I think manny will win - although I think it is a possibility - but I do think it could be competitive, especially since pac has maintained activity and Mayweather has fought once in 3 1/2 yrs v an MMA fighter.
build-up will be fun, and there aren't too many superfights to get the causals excited about anymore.
You wouldn't order it???
Not that simple. The ring has been known to make exceptions for big name fighters.
You can read the rules on what hitting a women can get you, but those rules didn't exactly apply to Floyd didn't they? Alright then.
Ring doesnt make exceptions to its rules - the rules say that sometimes a fight bt 1 and 3 is for the championship
fight: Gatti v. Ward I
runners up: Vazquez v Marquez III
Corrales v Castillo I
KO: Martinez KO Willoams
runners up: Pacquio ko Hatton
Donaire ko Montiel
there won't be a mayweather vs pac fight ever because pac screwed it up the first time.then floyd screwed it up the second time. pac has moved on and mayweather has to fight for his freedom.the fight will never happen so boxing needs to just move on.neither fight is afraid of the other.boxing needs to move on.
Why do boxing fans have to move on from the 1 fight that will put boxing on the front page ahead of all other sports. If, as u claim, neither is afraid, then y cant the fite get made. Even if Floyd's legal problems r the issue, which i think is just another excuse - any good lawyer will get him off with community service and probabtion - y cant they fight in the fall?
Boxing fans should not move on - if both fighters are planning on fighting, theres no reason they shudnt fite each other
What's with people nowadays creating threads that they already know what the answer to their question is.
And not hating here Larry and pardon me for this, but please fix your spelling and grammar. No disrespect, you create threads that are misleading sometimes.
Do you mean with excepting = accepting?
LOL. I was thinkn the exact same thing when I saw it - well, no requirements that you have to graduate high school (or jr. high for that matter) to post on this site.
If Floyd really cared about testin, and wasnt just tring to put off the fight and wait for Pac to get beat up more in wars wit other fighters (Maragarito, Marquez, etc.) then he would've went to the commission to request additional testing. Not once did he ever do this. Instead, he tries to play mind games by demanding testing above and beyond what's required.
I understand that some people say, "if your clean, just take the test"
The reason to not is simple - A lot of this sport is mental, and Team Pac does not want to bow down and agree to Floyd's demand for the testing which is above and abeyond anythin done for a chamionship fight. This wasn't negotiations regarding weight or gloves or anythin else which is normal for a fight, this was a demand which was never done before.
So if it wasnt just a way to delay the fight or get in floyds head, and he really cared about stricter testing, why wuoldnt he go to the commission and request it - especially considerin the commission themselves says they accept those types of requests and review them on a case by case determination
yeah, I agree to a point, but, the point of the sport is to inflict as much damage as possible on the other opponent. Just b/c you're winning a round doesn't mean you should not throw more punches. Go for the muthaf***a knockout
of course Pac will get hit more - he's an offensive fighter. He's willing to take a shot to land 2, whereas Floyd aint never willing to take a shot. Not criticizing, that's just their styles.
Pac has become more of a boxer and less wild over the past few yrs, but he's still an offensive fighter.
Floyd was an offensive fighter 10 yrs ago when he was blowin out Manfredy in 2 rds, and knockn down Corrales 5 times. Now he's a defensive fighter - I believe he only has 2 KOs in his last 7 fights since movin up to welterweight, whereas Pac has 4 KOs in his last 6 fights since movin up from 130 lbs.
It's like comparing Whitaker and Roberto Duran (not exactly, but you get what im sayn) - both great fighters, different styles
Baldomir/Oscar/Hatton/Marquez/Mosley: Total punches landed/thrown against Floyd
Landed: 425
Thrown: 2,664
16%
Cotto/Clottey/Margarito:
Landed: 509
Thrown:1,813
28%
It took five opponents to landed 400+ punches on Floyd, while it took three opponents to landed 500+ punches on Manny. These stats also prove of how ****ty Margarito's defense is, Manny landed(474) more on him than five opponents landed(425) on Floyd.
but what r the stats going in the other direction? how many more power punches did Pacquiao land?
And what has Duck Khan done to deserve this fight against Mayweather?
Mayweather - Cotto 2 is on.
It seems they are already lining up Canel v. Cotto. That said, I also think if Mayweather wins vs Pac, he won't take a tough fight like Cotto. Im thinking Danny Garcia, who is a big enough name and talent to not be considered a soft touch, BUT, imo, not as much of a challenge for Floyd as Cotto, Brook or Thurman.
Thoughts??
It's not surprising Mayweather is going to duck Khan again, he already ducked Khan 3 times (in a row) so this will just be the 4th time. Everyone knows Khan is the only guy with a shot to beat Mayweather and Floyd himself is never going to risk taking that fight. He'll retire as a certified 4-time ducker.
I know Floyd doesn't always take the toughest opponents, and he should've fought Khan instead of maidana imo. BUT, hes fighting Pac!
If he fought Khan, people would say he continues to duck Pac. Now hes fighting Pac, and you say he's continuing to duck Khan. C'mon
Anyway, Khan has only himself to blame. You want to fight Mayweather, you take on the toughest challenges you can, win, and make the fans demand it, like they did with pacquiao. Wins over Collazo and Alexander are good, but not sooo impressive that fans are clamoring to see Khan again, like when Pac had his run of de la Hoya, hatton and Cotto Knockouts.
i cant wait for the "pac is past his prime" excuses
They're both past prime...although pacs style and his wars have taken more of a toll. That said, no excuses! Winner is this generations best fighter. 50s had SRR, 60s Ali, 70s Duran, 80s had SRR, 90s had Roy Jones, '00s had these 2- who adds their name to list???
Mayweather is -255 at vegas books. Free money.
Value on pac. He's +235 on my book, and he has better than a 30% chance to win imo. Implied odds to justify a bet
Most significant fight of my life so far
Only fight I remember that maybe been close was Hagler v Leonard, but I think the hype for this fight is even bigger
poochiao waited floyd out, waited for him to get old, to look like he slippin before finally taking the fight. all dem roadblocks bob arum put up. tsk. tsk.
now floyd lookin vulnerable with all his bidness distractions and stuff now thjey jump on it. if poochiao wins he roided up mang, only way to beat floyd, is with roids.
Is this a joke. Pac has probably slipped even more.
plus, excuses in advance. ..lame
thats my point is that both are past...but if floyd wins pac fans will say that pac was over the hill
I disagree, I hate when people lump everyone together. ..floyd fans will say this...pac fans will say that...there are millions of each. It's just ignorant
Honestly, I dislike the training camp starting for Mayweather before he announces. If he's reached an agreement and telling the other fighter to keep quiet, then he's probably trying to avoid hearing the response to his choice a la Berto or Mayfield. If he hasn't reached an agreement yet then this is a b1tchmade move..
But I think Khan spazzing out about it is hilarious.
Yeah, Khan is pathetic, especially considering he acknowledges that he'll continue to duck Brook, even if he doesn't get the Mayweather fight.
Mayweather is pathetic and insecure. He has said in the past that he wants his opponents at their best, yet starts training camp without his opponent having the same time to train for the fight as he does.
Khan is a good fighter. Great. Far from it.
Alexander is a tough fight.
What should happen, I know it wont, is khan v brook and Thurman v garcia, if he moves up. Both winners would be legit challenges for the winner of pac v may, which also won't happen.
But that's what SHOULD happen if boxing was a legit sport where the best fought the best consistently
This Site and boxing in general has been boring without Mayweather, so thank goodness.... at least it'll be interesting with people talking shiat and hating on him all the time. They trying make GGG into the Pac but he hasn't been in the ring with anyone yet...only HBO's bum of the month...... trying real hard to make him look invincible. But the only thing about May's return is that he's fighting Boner....grudge match of sort......Good luck on trying make that look legit...A class fighter vs C+ fighter.
boxing has been boring? r u even a boxing fan? no one has to try hard, GGG does look invincible. 23 straight kos will do that for u. as opposed to may, whose only knockout in past 9 yrs was bc the fighter wasnt looking. lmfao!
He agrees to a three-fight deal where he fights once a year beginning either late this year or early next year. His fights will be against Manny Pacquiao in a rematch, a catchweight fight with a still-undefeated GGG, and then a Boxing vs MMA crossover fight with Conor McGregor (who will remain unbeaten from now till then, including defeating Nate Diaz in a rematch.) What do you think?
no way he fights GGG. not even 1% chance
nice alt scrub...this is about boxing as a whole....last time I checked GGG isnt the world of boxing
Roy jones is my favorite fighter but he never was lineal in his career. Its a fact. GGG fans dont like facts. I like him, i just want him to fight better competition. :boxing:
I know this goes against your original post - but I always ask bc the answer seems obvious to me - who should GGG have fought that he hasn't at 160? Martinez and Cotto wanted no part and GGG is trying to make fight with Canelo...so...?
exactly -the reason theyre negotiating wit Marquez is b/c they have too. Obviously if mayweather wonty fight, then Pac-Marquez III is the fight to make. Yeah - floyd fans say, its pacs fault b/c he wont agree to the test. bs.
overpricing yourself is the classic way of turning down a fight w/o turning it down. are floyd and Pac goin to make a ton, yes. but 100 mil guaranteed - c'mon. the fight will generate approx 150-160 million. $55 a pop times approx 2.5 million buys plus the gate. even If wildly successful, it wont get to 200 million. amd Obviouly the promoter is allowed to make some $$$. Is arum supposed to risk losing millions of dollars unless the fight does astronomical figures of 4 million buys.
askn for 100 mil is floyds way of sayn I dont want the fight
Some blame has to go to Al Haymon too. Khan, Thurman and Garcia are his B Level cashcows in the WW division (Floyd being the A Level cashcow).
These guys could make it into the A level cashcow bracket once Floyd retires so its in Al's interest to keep these guys ticking over with winnable fights. Not saying Haymon will put them in with bums but winnable fights. I mean Thurman got a list of 1 boxer he could face for his last fight. One boxer which was Collazo. That's all he had to choose from.
Haymon wants to prolong their careers as much as possible by keeping them undefeated and taking his 15% or whatever he takes for every fight..
SO WRONG! guys become stars by beating stars. Floyd and Pac became soooo much bigger after wins over de la Hoya. de lah Hoya became big because of his desire to face all the big names coming up, including JCC, Whitaker and Quartey. Mike Tyson became soo much bigger after his annihilation of Spinks; SRL huse after his wins over Duran and Hearns.
Thurman and Khan will never become a true "A" level cashcow (as you put it) unless they have a career-definin fight - which now would be Mayweather or pac
