If your care is genuine then why would you want a shirt getting in between you and the maximum amount of aid you can give? Why don't you just give the $50 to the Red Cross or Unicef, instead of giving 50-$15 materials and shipping=$35?
What does it matter that you are part of the "boxing community" in this circumstance? Isn't it more important to show you are part of the human community, or even part of a nation, than a fan of a particular sport?
I think its unlikely that Pacquiao would win, but I don't think you can say it couldn't happen. If Quintana could do it, I don't see why Pacquiao couldn't put on a great performance and find a way to win. The old adage goes that it takes a great little man to beat a good big man. Pac is great, Paul is good...Pacquaio has a chance despite PW's freakish proportions.
If Evander somehow won, this would be front page news. Second time in two weeks for boxing with Pacman's win. If he loses the fight won't be mentioned. Is this good publicity for boxing, or an easy way for guys to bash a 46 year old champ.
It's short sighted to think it would be good for boxing. Sure, Holy's victory would be a minor front page novelty story, and it might garner 30 seconds on sportscenter.
But you have to realize that Holyfield is more likely to keep fighting if he gains Valuev's WBA trinket. And if gains that belt, he will be matched with more dangerous opponents. Holyfield was destroyed by a gelatinous James Toney 5 years ago. Imagine what the possible match ups if he wins...
Holyfield v Klitschko(either), Haye...even guys like Peter, Maskaev, Arreola could really beat him up badly while he sits there not throwing because his reflexes are gone.
He's really endangering his health, and if something does happen it will do more to hurt boxing than any Holyfield win could ever help.
Never mind that a Holyfield win would make it very apparent to the public that the heavyweight division is even more pathetic than it is already believed to be.
there is no way you can point out 7 rounds in this fight where holyfield did enough to WIN the rounds. running around and showing boxing stances doesnt win fights
You neglect to mention that Valuev was doing even less than that. Hell, he was doing **** all. He just barely moved at all, barely threw at all, had a look on his face like he didn't give a shit and his punch output proved that he didn't.
Punch stats, if there are any(did they even bother with compubox on this one?), will show that Holyfield landed more and probably threw more as well.
But whatever, a pox on both their houses. Dreadful fight. And at least we won't be seeing the Holyfield-Klitschko unification match now.
This is historic. This the worst fight ever. its terrible, terrible terrible. Its got to have the lowest compubox counts ever. Makes Wlad Klitschko look like prime Mike Tyson on crack cocaine. Its so unbelievably bad that its almost good, a freakish display of nothingness.
Hatton-Pac would be great, but I think you are missing the boat.
Perhaps Pacquiao could finally force Floyd to show us how much heart he has(or doesn't). Plus, one wants to see the best fight the best, and Hatton is imo the weaker link in this triangle.
If this fight took place anywhere in America, they would be booing, throwing beer cans and hurling folding chairs into the ring. These spectators are far too polite.
OMG
what happened after that!? i must know
The dude with the ****ed up leg decided to make a tactical retreat and spend the rest of the fight on the ground. He lost a controversial decision.
To be honest, thanking god/jesus for "choosing him to win the fight" is pretty ****ing stupid in itself
oh absolutely, I just kinda assumed that goes without saying. But whatever, I've watched enough boxing to know I'm never gonna find that great atheist champion to root for; boxers are a pious lot. But Cunningham shows logical consistency, so I gave him his props.
Of course he did. You have no source, but I believe you utterly. The only way Pacquiao could be in more trouble is if he invited Buddy Mcgirt into his corner.
History of Atlas picks:
Props for making a list. But why the **** did he pick Mayweather, ie the favorite, just that one time? He doesn't pick the favorite enough to look credible, so why did he bother? Its bizarre in the extreme
and I forgive you for making a sexually provocative Klitschko avatar, because its also hilarious.
the smart money here is on De la Hoya at any price. He has so many advantages, so many ways to win. As a rule, I never wager big money. But its hard to resist Oscar here at -170 or so.
I wasn't being sarcastic, I really did and do believe you. Any time there is a sizable underdog, he picks him. and he is wrong virtually all the time. Its just a transparent attempt to be able to say "I told you so".
Just so you know, Atlas will pick Rahman over Klitschko and Holyfield over Valuev
Where is Tuaman now? What is he doing in these days we miss technique of old heavyweights?
I think its fair to say he's retired. Hasn't done anything in 2008, in 2007 he beat up some club fighters.
Now would be his last chance to ever get a title shot, before he is too old, and he is evidently doing nothing at all. stick a fork in him, he's done.
Why would Lamp's comments bother anyone who knows anything about Hamed? Naz incessantly claimed that Allah favors him and therefore ensures his victory. And that he couldn't win without said favor.
Lamply just took Naz's belief and applied it logically to the situation(ie, Hamed getting handled by Barerra). If Hamed wins because of Allah's favor, by necessity he can only lose if he is out of Allah's favor.
Lamply just pointed that out at a moment when it was most significant and, imo, humorous.
Notice how Hamed's trunks were emblazoned "Islam". Live by the sword, die by the sword...by which I mean Hamed should have stopped spouting his egotistical "Allah's in my corner" gibberish if he didn't want to get called on it when Allah was so evidently NOT in his corner.
Big George couldn't appreciate this apparently, probably because his deep involvement in religion makes him squirm whenever criticism of it is even hinted at.
All that said, Hamed was an awesome fighter who should have kept going. Perhaps he discovered that, in the ring, he was subject to risk and chance just like everyone else. Hence the retirement.
Fighters from previous generations fought much more often, but that cuts both ways. How many times have you heard people claim a fighter has been "ruined" by a single fight in the modern era? People say this specifically about Lacy after Calzaghe, Vargas after Trinidad etc.
Imagine fighting a grueling potentially 15 round fight every month(or more!) in an era when refs generally just kept counting and counting until it appeared someone was on the verge of death.
These guys sometimes fought 100 or more fights; imagine how many times they were "ruined" and "ruined" again. Remember how late ref stoppage came(if at all). Imagine how punchy so many surely became. I bet James Toney would sound like Barack Obama in comparison to some of the pugs in SRR's era and before.
This is why I can't see modern fighters getting blown out by historical fighters(say if we had a time machine). IMO, most historical fighters were surely compromised by how often they had to fight, how many punches they had to take, and the insufficent time and science they had to put into their training.
Chad's got balls but he'd get dealt wit by either guy. And he needs to rematch Johnson.
I agree either beats him. Hopkins fight would probably pretty close though. And Johnson rematch is never gonna happen, even though it should.
I'll give you credit for picking Pacquiao over DLH. I will give you nothing at all for "predicting" Klitschko over Rahman. Predicting Wlad's victory here is akin to predicting that the sun will rise in the morning. Rarely are there "sure things" in boxing, but Klitschko W inside over Rahman is one such thing.
Keep doing the videos though, establish a track record.
Started thinking about this earlier.
im going to have to say Kermit "The Killer" Cintron
Kerm is more of a kitten, weak mentally, cant take pressure, cry baby . that nickname doesnt fit him
What other ones do you think?
There are alot of bad things you can say about Kermit Cintron, but the dude fought Margarito twice. He got brutalized and knocked out, and then he begged Margarito for the chance to do it again.
Yeah, he breaks down mentally in his fights....but anyone who steps into the ring with Margarito twice must be given the benefit of the doubt when it comes to balls.
As for his nickname "the killer"; its a generic, and a mediocre tag. It fits him only in the sense that he has a great punch. He doesn't have the mentality of a killer in his style, though.
Is it just me
Lol, I made pretty much this exact thread about a year ago:
http://www.boxingscene.com/forums/showthread.php?t=154114
Its not just you.
Things haven't improved McGirt wise. When I saw him in Paulie's corner this weekend, I knew that Hatton would emerge victorious.
"You're taking too much punishment!!!!" is like a catch phrase with him;he says it often because his fighters are always getting smashed in the teeth after he trains them into the ground.
In this day and age of Heavyweights and as long as he's in shape, he's got a shot at winning a HW title.....
No, he really doesn't have a shot. No chance. If he comes in shape, he is still gonna come in punchy slow and old as hell. And when was the last time Mr. Bowe showed up in shape for anything?
If you watched the two Golota fights, you knew by the end of the second that he was totally finished as a top level boxer. It was a savage beating, and he looked shot even then.
And that was over a ****ing decade ago! What titlist is Bowe gonna beat? I'm not even sure he could beat Tye Fields at this point.
Is he trying to cash out why he can since one or both of those fighters are very much capable of beating him
If it makes dollars, it makes sense. and he just doesn't want to bother. He'd probably destroy Nipples, and likely Povetkin too(can't judge, haven't seen him fight much), but those aren't big money fights.
Are we talking pound for pound street fight(ie, fighting on the street with people of similiar size).? If so the correct answer is Librado Andrade. Thanks for playing.
