If Evander somehow won, this would be front page news. Second time in two weeks for boxing with Pacman's win. If he loses the fight won't be mentioned. Is this good publicity for boxing, or an easy way for guys to bash a 46 year old champ.
are u asking me if he beat ruiz convingly in their first fight? or the rematch?
well he lost the rematch as you probably know. the first fight many people said they felt he lost. and in the third fight it was ruled a draw.
Im just asking if you thought he deserved to beat Ruiz first time around, because i thought he lost clearly.
when i was in vegas watching the holyfield vs ruiz III fight everyone was like: OH OK ITS OK Holyfields been champ for a long time and he still holds the only 4 time hw champ record. so people already were like accepting of him losing even back then.
so if he somehow wins sat night. i think it says more about how sad the HW division is than anything. it would be good for him to be the first 5 time hw champ. but he would, MUST RETIRE after that. seriously
Does he deserve to be 4 time WC ?
I mean did he really beat Ruiz 1st time ?
It would be a disaster. It would be the ultimate proof of the HW's of this era (outside the klits) being the worst ever.
Boxing might be back on the front page but that would be as a laughingstock. It's bad enough that the fight was made in the first place. What is even more appauling is that I actually think Holyfield has a chance. From his weight it appears as if he's had a good camp and Chageev has provided a blueprint for beating the extremly cumbersome and Crude Valuev.
I still think Valuev will prevail as I cannot believe Holyfield has enough left in the tank to win a decision.

its hard to say really. Is holyfield's name a bigger attraction than Valuev's height? I don't know. both are really boring to watch right now and Holyfield's age might be a big minus from his name value.
Bad…
The positive attention it would create for the sport would eventually be dwarfed by the negative response for boxing having a 46 year-old champion. And you know what? They would be right. Nothing against Holyfield but if he wins this bout it would only underline that having multiple champions in each division leads to a watering down of the title.
wow...did you go out to eat with him last night..did he tell you this...

watch the OTL video on holyfield. the guy is knee deep in debt and pays a shit load to support his 11 kids from 9 different women.
what does a win for him mean for boxing? absolutely nothing.
It's good for boxing but bad for Evander
We get another HE DID IT AGAIN story
I mean when you think about it...when Holyfield beat Tyson that was considered a miracle...and that happened 12 years ago.

It's short sighted to think it would be good for boxing. Sure, Holy's victory would be a minor front page novelty story, and it might garner 30 seconds on sportscenter.
But you have to realize that Holyfield is more likely to keep fighting if he gains Valuev's WBA trinket. And if gains that belt, he will be matched with more dangerous opponents. Holyfield was destroyed by a gelatinous James Toney 5 years ago. Imagine what the possible match ups if he wins...
Holyfield v Klitschko(either), Haye...even guys like Peter, Maskaev, Arreola could really beat him up badly while he sits there not throwing because his reflexes are gone.
He's really endangering his health, and if something does happen it will do more to hurt boxing than any Holyfield win could ever help.
Never mind that a Holyfield win would make it very apparent to the public that the heavyweight division is even more pathetic than it is already believed to be.
Good I supposed because he is a big name to casual fans, so it gets him on some late night talk shows or something, but I dont think it lasts long. Im still hoping he somehow pulls a win out of his ass. I would be stunned though.
Good for boxing.
Good/bad for Holyfield.
He should retire, obviously. And if he wins he might continue.
But Holyfield winning gives boxing attention, which is always good.
