Larry Holmes.
And yeah as previously mentioned Toney. He might have been a ****ing walrus at that weight but the skills were still there.
Larry Holmes's jab was almost a work of art.
How can you diss a man who accepts a fight against arguably the current best HW? And especially in this era of divas....he deserves nothing but respect.
Definitely Marshall vs Shields. A lot of bad blood between them. Marshall has called our Shields for not finishing her opponents, so it'll be interesting to see if she backs her words and goes for a KO:

I know sportsmanship is a good thing, but we need bitter rivalries in boxing again.
Disagree with OP. He was way too negative. Never liked his commentary during the Froch and Naseem Hamed fights. Without fail, he would ruin Naseem's entrances with, "It's not everyone's cup of tea". In fact, I think ALL commentators should remain quiet during ring walks....either hype it up like Rogan does or keep quiet, I swear Sky sometimes kills the mood even before a fight begins.
Past a certain point (around the million mark), more money for 99% of people becomes superfluous. It's why title fights in boxing today are not very regular and why the UFC has literally title fights every fricking MONTH! And no Dana White isn't stingy....he's wise and knows paying fighters above and beyond creates divas and would have killed MMA a decade back, they are paid way enough as it is. Dana absolutely nails it in this video at the 2:13 mark, brilliant analysis:

Look at soccer, football, basketball, tennis.....boxing is the only sport today that if you're a fan....you're only a fan for certain times of the year and that's that.
Her death is not a global event. Famous worldwide but the rest of the world really doesn't care.
That's simply not true, Most people around the world are devastated. Maybe you're just a heartless prick.
An hour after Usyk beat AJ and some were saying Fury is ducking. Some people are just ridiculous and Fury has never been treated fairly by the British because of his gypsy roots.
I forgot to mention one of the worst aspects of British Boxing when using over the shoulder. Whenever the referee gets close or passes by them he covers nearly half the screen. All you see is a white shirt and miss any important punches except when it's replayed and you're like, "Oh that's why he was hurt...". So weird how this was chosen as the default way to broadcast boxing fights.
One time, Frank Sinatra walked into my shop. I say, "Frank, you hang out with Joe Louis. Just between me and you, how old is Joe Louis?" Know what Frank told me? He said "Joe Louis is a hundred thirty-seven years old." A hundred and thirty-seven years old!
This is an abysmally low number. He should be ashamed of himself. He deserves jail time for wasting the public's time on such low-rating garbage. He and his ilk is what killed Boxing.
I thought it killed the momentum doing that.
The original running order was meant to have Babic just before the main event. Not sure what changed. Maybe some SJW at support thought they should have a womens fight as the main support.
I’d prefer if boxing stuck to womens cards and mens cards separately..
But then no one would turn up, not even women themselves.
Why do we always call champions who lose a fight "exposed"? Why do we have this Nelson Muntz mentality whereby we snigger and mock fans when their favourite fighters lose?
Why do we stigmatize a loss in boxing and yet complain that boxers today don't take risks? Boxing fans are the worst.
It's hypocritical to promote female boxing but use their gender as a reason for limiting rounds and punishment inflicted. That's why its rare to see a KO and if there is any hint of trouble, the ref steps in too early. Compare that to the UFC, where it's five full minute rounds and the competition is high calibre, fighters like Rose and Schevenko there are even more popular than male fighters. Female boxers can blame sexism all they want, but no...the level is not there (yet) and part of the reason is female boxing with its limits will never be taken seriously.
Anthony Joshua has a overall deeper resume than Fury.
He beat a better version of Wladimir Kiltschko 'In the greatest heavyweight title fight of the past 20 years'.
He beat Pulev who has beaten Chisora.
He beat Povetkin who recent banged out Whyte.
He banged out Whyte, who now Fury is claiming could be his last fight.
He beat a unbeaten Parker who also beat Chisora, who is apparently one of Fury's best wins.
He beat Ruiz Junior in the rematch, proving that he can comeback from a loss.
And now he is facing Usyk, in another rematch. If he beats Usyk, this win will be 100% a greater win that Fury's win over Kiltschko.
Tyson Fury may be the better fighter, but in terms of effort as a champion? Anthony Joshua has been a better champion, and this reflects in his resume. Joshua has taken on all comers. Fury as a champion, in order to get a fight with him 'It seems like you need to take him to court'.
Tyson Fury has only just become champion, and he now wants out. Fury's hardcore fans are all extremely disappointed and underwhelmed.
Thank you, comrade. A good candidate for most idiotic post of the year. Bookmarked for December.
Why are people allowed to make threads like this? This is not freedom of speech, it's being offensive for the sake of being offensive. EVERYONE knows Lewis was a great HW, it's canon at this point, but this fat bastard sitting at home in his stained undies is allowed to make a thread to insult one of the best HWs of all time. What a disgrace.
True. I will not buy this event, and I suggest everyone do the same. Time to hit these promoters where it hurts. A year of boycotts and see how quickly quality fights are made. Let's stop being mugs.
What a clown ass thread.
Boxing is boxing, whether it's men or women or teens.
No one is denying it's boxing.
Using your logic, we can't judge anything from books, films and works of art because they fit the definition. So we can't say Ghostbusters (2016) isn't a bad film because it was filmed with a camera and displayed on a screen.
This boxing fight is also a great fight because they used gloves and it took place inside a ring:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qliiSeMNE2o
So, yes Women's boxing is technically boxing but it's ****.
Dummy, there's a difference between saying "Ghostbusters" is a bad movie and saying ALL movies starring women are bad movies, which is what this idiotic thread is doing.
Taylor/Serrano had the entirety of Madison Square Garden on it's feet.
I did what you said, Eddie, can you please release my family now?
Those fights were dogshit, bro. You know it, just afraid to say. And, yes, ALL women's boxing is sh1t.
I'm not a fan of the WNBA but you won't see me On Social Media crying about it why? because simply I don't watch. Incels exist, if the shoe fits...STFU and walk it off nobody forced you to wear them!

Just as everyone is allowed to criticize male boxers on here (half this forum is hating on fighters) then I'm allowed to criticize Women's boxing without being called an incel. Keep your preconceived notions to yourself. It's a Boxing Forum, we're allowed to discuss anything boxing-related. Grow a pair.
You're not forced to watch.
I'm forced to pay for it, though, when it's included in a card. Also, the audience are forced to watch, too.
Watch a women's boxing fight in a PPV. The atmosphere comes to a grinding halt and the audience becomes less vocal. They can't even boo in case they're accused of sexism. They sort of just sit there like hostages.
NOBODY is forcing us to watch honestly, don't like it don't watch
You know who typically hate Women? Incels who could never really get Women so they just https://www.supportline.org.uk/problems/trauma/Vent Online all day about them. Same with Women who trash men, most of them are Bitter because the Men they desire don't want them
Hopefully none of you have Daughters because they're SO F^CKED with some of you as their Fathers!
You're the problem with society today - there's no nuance. You either clap and cheer mediocrity or you're labelled a woman-hating incel. Please stop trying to politicise everything.
And nothing could be further from the truth.
I have a daughter of my own.
I love Women's UFC and a huge fan of Rose Namajunas.
Sorry, but spin it any way you want most boxing fans will always prefer a boxing fight that is a full 3 minute round with the same number of rounds as men's titles. Until they do what the UFC did and apply the same rules, it will always be viewed as an inferior product.
Plus, there's the simple fact that there's a massive lack of talent in womens boxing compared to UFC. Your feelings doesn't change facts.
Nah, I'll keep watching. Baumgardner-Meyer was a great fight, as was Shields-Taylor
Shields vs Taylor is a perfect example why I won't be watching Women's Boxing in the foreseeable future. That fight was passable as a watch if you had no other fights to watch and certainly could hold your interest, but the thing is.....it had all the makings and potential of being a "great" fight, but the two minute rounds killed all momentum.
I'm not saying women can't box. I'm saying they're so conscious of the time and amount of rounds, they don't really have enough time to set up their punches and counters, and that's why most women fights all look the same. Just two women frantically flailing their arms around to score as much points as possible. It looks like they're doing something....but they're not.
Shields vs Taylor never even happened but you didn't like it....lmaooooo
I mean Shields vs Marshall and that other boring Taylor fight. Both fights were spoken of like they were Barrera v Morales. They weren't even close....they were like every women's boxing fight: boring, unprofessional and ugly to watch.
Cant see it
Even without Mayweather in the equation, I think people forget what a phenomenon Conor McGregor was for a moment in time in terms of popularity, He was the biggest crossover star in combat sports at the time. He was arguably the A side in that fight in terms of popularity and support, just not in the split and contract. Then add Mayweather to the mix, the biggest grossing boxer of all time with PPV records etc..
Fury is certainly a big star now, but Ngannou hasn’t got anywhere near the stardom McGregor had. Even my grandparents knew who McGregor was and my sisters who care very little about sport. The average Joe on the street doesn’t know who Ngannou is.
Also, the Floyd v McGregor fight took the mystique out of it for casuals in terms of boxing v UFC. An old retired Floyd carried a prime McGregor. I think the reality of that would affect the hype for this one of its mostly boxing rules
still, it’ll be huge I’m sure but not Floyd v Conor levels.
This. End thread.
Stop trying to make womens boxing a thing. Get rid of wo minute rounds, early stoppages and opponents dragged from the local YMCA and maybe it'll generate interest. Until then, Womens UFC is where female combat is at - equal rounds, better quality match-ups and all round more entertaining.
