I'll start...some of these would be a two for one if it was 1 guy facing the other guy...
Miguel Cotto,
Austin Trout,
Alfonso Gomez,
Clottey,
Golovkin,
Juan Manuel Lopez,
Manny Pacquiao,
Terence Crawford,
Christopher Diaz,
Mikey Garcia,
Orlando Salido,
Felix Verdejo (not proud of this one anymore),
Jesus Rojas,
Zab Judah
Probably just a couple more that I can't think of since I'm at work posting this but yeah, never been to Vegas for a fight. These were all mostly from MSG.
I saw Mike Tyson at some ockie bodega in Brooklyn. He's probably like 5'9/5'10 , but he's one scary looking dude lol definitely not someone you should mess with. The heavens definitely created this man for one purpose only. Never seen a more intimidating looking dude in my life
Crazy how a 5'10 (boxrec has him listed at 5'10) dude looked so monstrous and intimidating in the ring. Not to mention dominant in a division where most guys are giants. I know back then they weren't as seemingly tall in the heavyweight division as they are now, but holy crap, that is still impressive height to reign king in the biggest division in boxing.

Turningstone?
Nice little spot to watch a fight right there. I live about 5 hours away but come up whenever there is a top level type fight taking place there. Not a bad seat in the house
Yes sir, Turning Stone. Worked there for 23 years and moved on to another casino in NY. Was there for the Joe Smith fight in January and have been to many before that as well. Couple of good stories, Hector Camacho and Naseem Hamed both tried picking up my now ex-wife when they were there for HOF weekend. Camacho was deplorable and filthy as one might imagine. He didnt like being told no.
Not true at all.
Kessler was the heavy bookies favourite.
Arthur Abraham second.
Ward wasn’t even considered to be a dark horse.
That is true, Kessler was the favorite and they added Taylor to have some star power. Andre surprised almost everyone and I thought Dirrell was going to do better.
Never been. Need to go at some point! Definitely on the list.
Another great place to meet fighters is at conventions during fight week at the big fights in Vegas. I’ve been to several Canelo fights in recent years and they usually have them the day of or day before the fight, met lots of contemporary fighters and some legends like Tommy Hearns, James Toney etc.
I want to go to Vegas again for a big fight. A lot of fighters go to promote themselves or its the place they will get recognized. Big fights at the MSG is no different, I met Bhop, John Ruiz and a bunch of other fighters there. Most greet you and take the time to take a pic or sign an autograph. Its part of the whole experience and the reason that I usually get there early. The Barclays has more restrictions so it is harder.

Ward was 10/1 I believe. The UK oddsmakers had Kessler favourite at like 2/1 and then Froch and Abraham at about 3/1.
I backed both Ward and Dirrell. Got around 10/1 on both.
I hear you with regards to locality.
I've met most of the Aussie boxers over the Years. Fenech...Kostya Tszyu....Shannon Taylor....Lester Ellis.....Daniel Geale....Barry Michael's....Troy Waters...
Danny Green and Anthony Mundine. Never met Jeep Horn though.
I haven’t met a lot of those on the list tbh just seen them fight live, I thought that’s what the OP meant. Some of them I have met a lot of the British stars like Hatton, Fury, AJ, Froch, Khan but not many of the foreign fighters.
I’ve met quite a few at conventions or signings like Roy, Toney, Hearns, Spence, Porter etc but it’s only a quick conversation and a picture (if you pay for one) so it’s not really authentically meeting them.
The two best guys I’ve met in boxing are Robert Alcazar and John H Stracey.
I was in the food court in the MGM grand and I seen a guy in a team Munguia tracksuit sit down on the table next to me and it was Alcazar. He he gave me some great insight about a Oscar and why he’s so f***ed up now and the sport in general. Really nice dude.
I actually met Stracey in Iceland not the country the supermarket. :lol1: I’m from Liverpool originally but live in Cheshire now, I’d gone to visit my brother in law who lives in a place called Wallasey and I was just nipping the shops to grab some ice lolly’s, ice cream or some sh** like that for his kids. Anyway, as I’m queuing up at the checkout, this guy in front of me looks the image of John H, I thought there’s no way it could possibly be him and then I heard him speak to the cashier and I heard a cockney accent and it turns out he moved down here years back. So I politely introduced myself and he seemed surprised somebody still recognised him and he invited me to join him for a coffee. So many great stories about the Napoles fight, how he was screwed in the Dave Boy Green fight etc. Easily the best conversation I’ve had with a former fighter.

Well i remember kesslers team were not happy with having to go to oakland as the champ in his first fight, they clearly saw ward as the biggest threat to their guy, most people i know thought ward would win that one actually & a lot made quite a lot of money on it
Actually i think floyd put a big bet on it too, if i recall correctly
Ward was earmarked for the win in that from the start, he was the only guy to have all his fights in his home country, froch for example fought went to denmark, finland, america, imagine if ward was told to do that LMAO

Why would you say that? Puzzles me when someone can say something like that and never have one fact to back up their lie.
Andre Ward mauled noone.....ever.
One time, Frank Sinatra walked into my shop. I say, "Frank, you hang out with Joe Louis. Just between me and you, how old is Joe Louis?" Know what Frank told me? He said "Joe Louis is a hundred thirty-seven years old." A hundred and thirty-seven years old!

Seeing how he SOUNDLY whipped all those men. I’d bet money on all of those fights being done again outside of the U.S.
Cotto, Pacquiao, Froch, Kessler, Haye, Joshua, Rigondeaux, Brook, Khan, Barrera, Briedis, Groves. Some of the other British fighters from that era; Bellew, the Smiths, Campbell, Macklin, Murray, Cleverly, Burns, Saunders, Yafai, Eubank, De Gale. Some headliners, some way down the card.
Randomly went to a press conference for a fight that never happened; Berto Vs Mosley and there was a lot of boxing people there mingling. De La Hoya, Haye, Katsidis, Khan, Doug Fischer. Judah too I think.
Hatton, Mayweather, Golovkin, Canelo, Fury Wilder, both Klitschko’s, Loma, Usyk, Spence, Chocolatito, Donaire, Rigondeaux, Inoue, Tank, Kovalev, Barrera, Khan, Calzaghe, Froch, AJ and pretty much every decent British fighter 2005 onwards.
Biggest regret never going to see Pac live, nearly went Pac-Hatton but just didn’t have the money to justify it back then. Also wish I’d gone to see Crawford when he fought Burns up in Scotland.

I met a young kid( about16). He came to our gym to spar our 11-0 professional fighter.
The kid was about 10-15 pounds smaller. I watched that professional get out thought and out boxed for 2 3 rounds, so he decided to get a little dirty and ruff up the kid. He ended up getting. MAULED by the kid.
I knew I was witnessing a future star. The hair on my arms literally stood up watching this kid.
He was Andre Ward. When I heard he was in the super six on showtime. I bet on him to win it. He was a huge underdog. I knew he would win.
Well...we know that's a lie.
Went to Canelo/Trout in San Antonio in 2013.
Met Oscar De La Hoya at the weigh in.
Also met Sergio Martinez there as well.
I was in San Francisco for Super Bowl 50. Met Deontay Wilder and the 2 Watson twins on radio row.
I’ll be at Canelo/Bivol in May in Vegas.
