I think Calzaghe is still in his peak, he's certainly not past his peak on last fight alone. Calzaghe has proved he HAS power, do you look at his opponents faces after the fights, the camera does not lie !
Sorry but i disagree, if you land 1000 shots and dont knock the man out then you gotta question the power. Plus he doesnt hit correct therefore his power isnt what it could be.
Do you know the difference between scoring punches and trying to knock someone out?
Calzaghe didn`t set himself to knock Lacy out, instead he punished him with fast accurate punches over 12 rounds, which displays alot more boxing skill than standing there and trading big shots.
LOL Lacy was a standing target against Joe after 6 rounds, it was very similar to Tyson against Lewis, Calzaghe could of done what he wanted.
And Joe is not known for having KO power, get off his nuts
There is no bigger fight for hops, the media is going to explode over it on both sides of the pond. I'd make joe a 2/1 favorite and he will win by MD. Joe is almost as crafty as hop. Joe is more offensive and hops does not have the punch to capitalize on joes mistakes. Who ever wins this fight is going down as one of the greatest more so for b-hop than joe though.
they will both go down as greats. But Joe has left it too late in his career IMO, if he would have fought the best 5/10 years ago he would have had a much more lucurative career, instead he has left it until what he has said will be the last year or so of his career. Frank Warren is infamous for protecting his best fighters look how much money Hamed and Vicky Fatton made since departing from Warren
Both fighters are past there peak, Joe will be 36 and this will be his first time fighting an all time great (far to late in his career) and Hopkins will be 43 if he loses (most likely on points, cos Calzaghe hasnt got power at Super middle, let alone Light heavy) people will say he (Hopkins) is shot and would have beaten Joe in his prime and they will probably be right.
power has nothng to do with it roy only had 6 fights at that weight so theres no way in hell he can be the best ever SMW
it is cal he has dominated at 168 for 10 years
Ok, Roy was faster, more exciting and hit alot harder. Boxing monthly also have RJJ as the greatest Super Middleweight of all time. Calzaghe is a good fighter im not hating but Roy was on another level to Joe IMO
that only he knows. there was money to be made, he had such an exciting style and was a real character. the only thing i can think of is his ego. he was cocky and never thought he could be beaten. i mean he fought ocne more agaisnt a nobdy and looked shit. maybe he lost his hunger to train. barerra made him look silly, but he didn't get knocked out. i think he was at his peak with frank warren, and breandan ingle his trainer. not with his brother as manager and steward. steward is good for a certain type of fighter. not prince naz.
FYI
Oscar Suarez was Hameds main trainer for this fight. Steward didnt really have much input
Who cares really? i mean he got Ktfo by Michael Sprott. He has horrible boxing technique and his career as a pro never really got going. He was too inactive at the start and then lost 3 times to very average opposition.
Its been over for ordinary Harrison
Hamed was more interested in promoting Islam than winning the fight.
Barrera fought a good tactical fight and had one of the best performances of his career, Hamed had the worst night of his life and lost on points. It wasnt that bad
Judah to me because allthough i am a fan apart from Spinks he never wins the big fights and he just didnt fullfill his early potential.
Lacy got exposed but could still shine as he has been given a golden opportunity (excuse the pun)
Micheal Grant
Vargas has had a similar career to Judah
and many others but there the main ones
"Hamed was more interested in promoting Islam than winning the fight. "
Hamed was a BAD muslim, the man drank.. had a foul mouth and i bet he hardly prayed... ALL MOUTH
He has never had a drink in his life. Dont try and school me on something you dont know about.
I'll agree with Harrison and obviously Cooper but Bruno was half decent and Khan could be a good fighter, its too early to judge IMO.
Fair points, Bruno was half decent but he was still VERY over-rated and khan has showed too many weaknesses against dire opposition imo
