anyone see the documentary that went out following hameed before the big fight and his first loss. Its like he never trained, went out all the time pissing about. He spared with a mexican guy for 5 minutes then said he needs a break and walks out. Dont get me wrong i still think he would of lost if he trained rigth but i dont think his mindset was right going into that fight.
Then you don't know anything about islam. He would always make it a point to promote Islam and the fact that the fight landed on one of the holiest Christian days isn't a coincidence.
He tried to dissrespect Christianity and lost and could not recover from the embarassment of doing so. He was overated and a loud mouth that had no respect for the sport.
Ive heard this idea before...that Hamed especially chose Easter to fight Barrera and make it into an Islam/Christianity thing.
Easter 2001 was from 12th -15th of April.
Hamed fought Barrera on the 7th of April.
Hamed fought McCullough on Halloween....does that make Hamed a witch???
Maybe Hamed was the anti-christ!
What other of his fights were specifically placed to coincided with Christian holidays?
Personally, i think its just a pile of poo.
well of course the jewish /christian books wont say anything about muslims because Islam came after these two religions.
Also the bible has some pretty violent passages in it too!!

Between the three major religions, Islam is the only one that advocates violence and hatred towards Jews and Christians.Surah 47-4 in the Quran says :"Therefore, WHEN YOU MEET THE UNBELIEVERS, SMITE AT THEIR NECKS; At length, when ye have thoroughly subdued them, bind a bond firmly (on them): thereafter (is the time for) either generosity or ransom: Until the war lays down its burdens. Thus (are ye commanded): but if it had been Allah's Will, He could certainly have exacted retribution from them (Himself); but (He lets you fight) in order to test you, some with others. But those who are slain in the Way of Allah,- He will never let their deeds be lost."

i have muslim friends and they say you can not discredit a christain or jew for their belief because they do believe in 1 god. thus you can't doubt them.
i htink non believr applies to anyone else.
Morales and Barrera both ducked Hamed at first. However Barrera knew that if he took the fight he could get KO'd for the biggest paycheck of his life ever. Luckily for him Hamed wasnt at his best.
The Junior Jones fight set him back.
FYI Hamed did not pick the date of the fight, HBO did. The fight was actually first scheduled for an earlier date. Just because someone is a pround Muslim does not necessarily mean they are anti-Christian

"Hamed was more interested in promoting Islam than winning the fight. "
Hamed was a BAD muslim, the man drank.. had a foul mouth and i bet he hardly prayed... ALL MOUTH
He has never had a drink in his life. Dont try and school me on something you dont know about.

well at the moment the only real character that stands out for his antics is floyld mayweather who only gets in your face, says he gives 100 dollars tips and you only gave 20 and then says he gonna knock you out and that he's better than anyone ever.
everoyne else is pretty much decent and normal so i do miss naz and oh tyson too.
Hamed chose that date.
are you being serious or having a joke? if you think prince naz was boxing due to a crusade agaisnt the christians then i think he would have been on that plane to new york on sept 11th mate or perhaps he would buy 1 tonne of fertiliser with a ticking clock to make a bomb.
Trust me, at the time, Hamed could have picked any date he wanted and HBO would have obliged. HBO needed Hamed more than he needed HBO.
why would he want another date though? if that's what is offered and he has no reason to change then why not?
Hamed was more interested in promoting Islam than winning the fight.
Barrera fought a good tactical fight and had one of the best performances of his career, Hamed had the worst night of his life and lost on points. It wasnt that bad
This sums it up perfectly.
Hamed was living it up in a plush mansion right up to fight night and I recall pictures of him on the strip with his head out the sunroof of a long limo. In other words he was enjoying the lifestyle as opposed top training hard.
He didn't take the fight seriously which was plain stupid. The disappointing thing about it all was that he didn't have the heart top come back.
The backlash on him wouldn't have been so bad if he didn't retire after. He would be regarded so much more if he came back from the loss blazing and showing the hunger he once had.
I agree totally. I think even if he didn't fight Marco again and just fought on, people would have a lot more respect for him.
This just reaffirms the rumor that Hamed picked that date to fight Barrera on Christianity's holiest weekend of the year, which was the the weekend of Good Friday. He was trying to show that a Muslim could never be beaten by a Christian, even on that particular weekend. He made a lavish prayer (or praise) to Allah and seemed to make a religious statement that Islam was greater than Christianity.
Quietly, Barrera made his usual Catholic crossing to his chest and went on a violent Crusade and defeated the Muslim easily. I'm surprised the scores weren't lopsided.

If you read the book Prince naseem hamed and those he left behind. You would have a better understanding. Hamed earned around $70 million and did very well through boxing, however along time before he fought Barrera religion was much more important to him and his family then boxing ever could be and he felt he was victorious in that fight because of the way he promoted Islam. If you have seen the documentary it shows him talking to Michael Buffer and saying that his message before the bell meant so much more than the fight.
The backlash on him wouldn't have been so bad if he didn't retire after. He would be regarded so much more if he came back from the loss blazing and showing the hunger he once had.
If Hamed was so great why didn't he chase the rematch?
IMO didnt care much about boxing anymore. He was beaten and humiliated by Barrera.
He didnt train properly for Barrera thinking that he could just KO him.
After all the years of Hamed shouting his mouth off about how great he was, he didnt believe in himself enough to fight Barrera again.
Its ok to be arrogant and dance around if u can back it up, but after losing what more was he other than a clown?
He had one more fight and apparently looked crap. The crowd booed him. Usually people with such big ego's crumble very easily.
did he get arrested for having explosives in his shoe? :o
LOL
There were concerns for Hamed's security
Hamed was very vocal about Islam in the Barerra fight and that stuff with a flying carpet entrance isn't exactly going to go down with the american public!!
