Ya sure Bradley was a walking corpse in there. Yet Ruslan still couldnt win the fight.
I'm so happy someone here is actually smart. These fools don't remember that Freddie Roach was threatening to stop the fight. Yeah Bradley had some tough moments when he got careless, but he won most of the rounds.
PAC was offered a career high payday to fight JMM after the 2nd fight. I think it was 6 or 7 million and Manny opted out and fought Diaz for 3.
Again I still stick to the fact that he didn't HAVE to face JMM again. Also, you seem to omit the fact that JMM turned down his career high payday to rematch Pac, only to fight Chris John instead for like 80K and lose. Tell the full story if you're gonna tell it.
In any case we got 4 great fights out them. People like to say how much trouble JMM gives Pac. No, they give EACH OTHER a lot of trouble. It takes two to tango. They will always make for good fights.
He wouldn't have signed with them. TR was only thing saving him from the third fight with JMM. He was avoiding that fight since '08 and his team and promoter came up with every excuse in the book not to fight him. First it was a fight no one wanted to see, then it was weight, then it was money, then finally in 2011 team Pacquiao thought JMM was too old and out of his element above 140 so thy fought him.
That's what's so funny, JMM has been chasing Manny all these years and know the tables have turned.
The crazy thing is Pac did not have to fight JMM again. Had he signed with GB I doubt we would have seen a trilogy. Mainly because there would have been other options for Pac. I just wonder if the smear campaign that happened would have actually existed had he signed with GB.
He couldn't win but he fuqqed Bradley up. Ruslan never got dropped, Tim did. Ruslan never went flying across the ring from punches, Tim did. Ruslan also never took a knee, Tim did. Bradley won the fight but Provodnikov kicked his ass bro.
Ok, he won most of the rounds and yeah Freddie wanted to stop it but why are u trying to act like Ruslan didn't pound Tim??? Lol
I'm not trying to deny the fact that Bradley didn't take his share of punishment. It's just funny that everyone seems to think he got steamrolled. Provodnikov took his lumps as well. But I get it, if you got some power you're the next best thing....
What would have been even better is if Arum and Oscar were not fighting and trying to keep fights in house like 2 lil girls mad at the world, they are destroying the sport
I could not have said it better man. For all those claims from Oscar about trying to clean up the sport the fans are the ones who constantly lose in all of this. Nevermind the fact that you can't get ringside seats unless you are a celebrity.
They don't care about you. Don't believe the hype.
Rosado
Pretty even match up here and just for discussions sake , who takes this?
I think Rosado takes this. Dude is mad underrated and I'm sorry, I know it's the norm for people to get hype over a knockout but I have yet to see anything in Stevens that makes me think he's special. Just like everyone is on Mythesse's (sp) nuts right now. I still haven't forgot how Jesse Brinkley outboxed him after Stevens swelled his eye. Just because a fighter has a lost or two doesn't make him a bum. Rosado brings it. All the time. Even if he's outgunned.
Didn't read anymore, because if you don't think Mattysse won the majority of the first 6 rds, you are just bias.
That's your problem, you don't pay attention to details. I just pointed out that its a 12 rd fight not 6, so you really shouldn't have replied. I'm not biased at all. I think Lucas did well, but was outclassed. I had the fight even after 6 and i could see him coming on.
I mean who doesnt like a power puncher? i understand the hard on you have for Lucas, but you need a lil more on that level of boxing.
What reputation?
Did the fight not turn around after the eye swelled up? Simple yes or no. :bottle:
What you're not getting is that it was Danny who caused the swollen with a punch. The fight was close after the 6th, then Danny pulled away. Thats why i keep pointing out thats its a 12rd fight. yeah lucas had his moments but Danny won the fight (i.e most of the 12 rds).
seriously man, stop reaching. Thats like saying someone would have won had they not gotten knocked out.
he lost!
It's boxing. If you are willing to go out on a limb and judge fighters or fights, you will get it wrong some times.
I actually would like to see them fight again. I don't want to see Danny fight Mayweather...at least not yet...
Hopefully we'll get to see Garcia vs. Broner one day.
I'd like to see Garcia - Broner also. I definitely think that Danny deserves a payday now. I mean he has been the underdog in so many fights and he keeps winning. Golden Boy needs to get him a 3-4 mil payday now. Although he would lose to Mayweather, I'd watch it just to see how Danny adjusts. He always finds a wy to do it (ain't that right Khan?)
LOL
I was wrong (along with a lot of others). I deserve this.
In my defense, everything I said remained true up to Saturday night. Garcia showed some serious wrinkles most of us had not seen Saturday. I was in awe of Danny Saturday night. He balanced BOXING Matthysse at moments with slick movement with standing and countering his aggression to get his respect. He fought a BRILLIANT fight and I'd go as far to say it was Top 2-3 impressive performances of the year.
I will no longer doubt Danny (unless he fights Mayweather). He is clearly the best at 140. You can now consider me one of his biggest fans.
BTW...I still think Matthysse is every bit as good as people have been saying he was...Danny is just better. If anything, Matthysse has fell into the trap many KO artists fall into, thinking they can win every fight with one punch and forgetting to fight to win rounds...
Props to you for taking your lumps like a man. I have more respect for you that you owned up to the fact that Danny CLEARLY won a fight with Lucas (who is a really good and strong fighter). Thank you for not asking what everyone's score was after 6 rounds like this wasn't 12 round championship fight. Or disregarding the left hook hook that put Lucas on the canvas (not bad officiating). Or by saying had the eye not swollen, etc etc.
Respect brother. Now can you please give some of that hot sauce to the other Lucas fans for their crow as well?
Ok I'll bite
I'm not a brit, but the reason why I don't care for him is because he believes the hype that Golden Boy has inserted into his head. I'll do a breakdown:
He has always been chinny, getting floored a few times before the Prescott fight.
He then gets DESTROYED by Prescott, decides to make a change and move to train with Freddie Roach. Had a lot of success with Freddie Roach, talks about how he loves to train with the champ (PAC). During this time Bradley is beating Holt, Peterson, Campbell, and the last person for him to face is Alexander (remember how that fight would determine who the biggest 140lber was?). Khan had the big time promoter, who put this guy on a pedestal and let the other guys battle it out to then face Khan. Bradley wins, decides to wait out his contract with Shaw so he can get a big money fight and Khan goes all out saying he ducked him. Whereas, Khan BARELY made it past Maidana.
Khan fights Peterson, and while the fight was close he makes every excuse in the world of why he lost and was robbed. If he was as good as he thought he was, the fight shouldn't have even been close. Khan goes on about how Peterson never hurt him, he had no power etc. Then Peterson gets caught with higher testosterone levels and Khan comes out saying Peterson's punches felt different etc (***** move).
He then gets KO's by Gracia and again starts to point the finger. Fired Roach, said things about Roach is slowing down and he doesn't teach defense. He teams up with Hunter and now starts saying how much he has changed and how he is learning so much. But he is still getting hit with looping left hooks, still punches over his feet, and his defense hasn't improved. Yet Golden boy (again) wants all the tough guys to fight each other, then get him.
All in all, he's just not as good as he thinks he is. You would think after that many asswhoopings (Prescott, Maidana, Peterson, Gracia, Diaz), he would actually say I'm still working on things. What does he say though "I'll be champion by the end of the year". His code has been cracked, he's all flash and no substance. Get past those first couple of rounds with him and he's ripe for the taking.
Done.
Wow we're still debating this
When we look back at this YEARS from now it will be revealed that Floyd ducked this fight. Some of you guys don't remember all the details but just so you know Manny agreed to testing during the FIRST negotiation. What wasn't agreed to was the cut off date. Manny wanted a 10 (or 12) day cut off but Floyd said no. Remember they even got a mediator involved to help get the fight made. So Floyd would not agree to the cut off date, but the funny thing is it was revealed later that USADA stopped testing Mosley 12 days before the their fight also.
Then there were 2nd negotiations that Ross Greenberg even confirmed but Floyd decided to go on "vacation". Then the last round of negotiations in which Floyd made a ridiculous offer knowing Manny would decline it.
It's funny how most boxers seem to agree that Floyd is the one who avoided this fight. The reason I bring this up is that most active boxers know what goes into fight negotiations. Roy Jones even said that if Floyd had intentions to fight Manny he would not have let him fight all those dangerous fights and risk his payday. Think about that for a minute. Someone who calls himself money, say he fights for money, flashes it, etc. Is presented with a 200mil offer after all is said and done, and he walks away from it.
This will follow Floyd for the rest of his career. He knows it, and so do his fans. That's why they get so worked up over this debate.
And just so you know, I am neither a Floyd or Manny fan. I am a boxing fan, and for the record I thought that Floyd would win if he had fought Manny.
-end rant.
You're facts are wrong and your bias against Floyd is evident. First rd it was obviouis Floyd wanted the fight more than Manny's side, and later on, it was perfectly clear that Arum wanted no part of this. And Floyd offering Manny 40 million dollars doesn't look like such a bad offer now, does it?
Actually, my facts aren't wrong (google will help you). The first round of negotiations fell apart due to a cut off date, did you really forget that? I have no bias against anyone. I just know what NOT to do if you want to make a fight. Giving a lowball offer is one way to do and also saving face. Let's not do the hindsight thing now. At the time the offer that was made was ridiculous, and he know Manny would never have accepted that.
Floyd could have boxed Manny in though regarding the drug testing thing. He could have said that he wished to clean up the sport and he wanted to join forces with Manny and implement OSDT for their fight. There would have been no way in the world Manny could have backed out of that and Manny would have come across as the bad guy. Instead Floyd, Oscar and his father and uncle went on a smear campaign which ultimately cost them all money.
Honestly, I think you're biased and it shows because you can't look at the situation as an innocent bystander. Like I said, I think Floyd would have boxed the socks off of Manny I just wish the fight was made so we could have seen it.
Like i said later I think Floyd decided the fight would be on his terms. But in 09 a contract was drafted by Golden Boy and sent to TR and Pac. Floyd had agreed to all the terms, including the $10 million per pound over the limit clause and 50/50 split on the money. They had negotiated the OSDT and Arum had told them it was not problem. In the lawsuit the actual contract was produced. It said Floyd would walk to the ring first but Manny would be introduced first. Floyd would get the headline on the card (It would read Maywather vs. Pacquiao).
No way Golden Boy sends this contract unless Floyd had OK'd it. Arum told reporters he was taking it to Pac, when they came back the testing was suddenly an issue. After that broke down I believe Floyd didn't want the fight unless it was completely on his terms, has 50 has stated.
But once again facts are facts, contract was sent and refused. If Pac had signed it we would have had a fight, probably two or three by now.
Dude, you're missing a big point here. The reason the fight fell through was due to a cut off date by two days. There was even a mediator brought in to help get the deal made. Floyd actually walked away from the fight.
I had it 4-2, and Lucas was taking over the fight in the 5th and 6th before the eye swelled up.
Do you guys realize that Lucas wins that fight if Weeks simply breaks the guys up before the KD? He had two reasons to stop the fight. Danny pulling down on his head, and Lucas being caught up in the ropes because Danny pulled down on his head.
I don't see how people can say anyone was outclassed based on the factors in this fight, and how close it was. Quit mistaking discussing legitimate events in the fight for excuses.
Lucas didn't fall until Danny hit him with that left hook. I also recall Danny being tangled in the ropes at one point but i didn't see him on the canvas. Danny won fair and square.. you know you sound like a sore loser right? and you didnt even step in the ring.
You Matthysse fans are so desperate. Stop with the whole "Lucas was winning until the eye closed up" This is just making you guys look bad. You do realize this is a championship fight scheduled for12 rounds. Danny was very poised, relaxed, and saw Lucas coming. Even the commentators were talking about how relaxed and focus Danny looked. BTW it was Danny who closed the eye. Wow, you guys are really reaching
The clinching is also making you look bad. Lucas lunged in every time he threw a shot (footwork was terrible). Also, there were times when Lucas has Danny on the ropes and he still couldn't do anything with him.
The knockdown was legit. Danny hit Lucas with a body shot that really hurt him right before the KD. You guys have such a hard on for Lucas you can't even be objective.
Danny fought a great fight and you guys need to give him props. Ok, if you don't like his dad or the fact that he KO'd Khan, you can't take away what he was able to do last night which is make Lucas look like a crude fighter who is in love with his power and somewhat 1 dimensional.
There is no need for a rematch. Danny keeps winning and every time Lucas stepped up he lost. Deal with it. I give props to both fighters for fighting each other and giving the fans something to talk about on Monday.
I just found it funny that all these guys here were saying some really messed up things about how Angel was gonna pick Danny's body off the canvas and saying RIP Danny are either quiet or just to mimize Danny's win. I mean some of that stuff was a really inappropriate thing to say because it could actually happen and I would never wish that on anyone. But I understand how keyboard thugs are.
I must say it's really funny to come here and see people making every excuse that they can find to defend Lucas. Just say Danny is a great champion and move on. I mean Danny said that about Lucas right?
David Tua - One Demensional. Relied too much on his power and wasn't disciplined enough to keep his weight in check. Left hook was nice, but a good jab would always trouble him
Winky Wright - Technically sound, nice tight defense and a great jab. Sometimes wasn't busy enough, and he needed to sit down on his punches more. Would have been better if he could have gotten down to 147.
Ricky Hatton - Although very one demensional he was great for the sport. He had fans that will always support him. Wasn't discplined enough and let his weight get out of control between fights. Not very techinically sound, but his mauling style was able to take him far until he met someone who knew how to handle it. He was his best at 140.
Amir Khan - All flash. Not a good as he thinks he is. He has speed, but his balance is terrible (punches over is feet) and his chin is subpar. A front runner, the longer the fight goes the worst he gets. Until he stops making excuses for his loses he will always be an underacheiver.
Are you serious? Lamont fought Holt( one punch KO power both hands and fast), Ortiz( heavy handed fighter and southpaw), Khan( fastest hands at 140) compared to Humberto Soto, Olusegun, Dallas Jr, and Judah? Lamont fought the hardest and fastest out of that bunch.
Also, he fought toe to toe with bangers like Holt and Ortiz but he is in reality is a game-plan fighter. That plan he used with Holt proved efficient, he boxed at a distance watching out for his left hook and pressured later in the fight assuming Holt gasses out and he did.
Cons:Matthysse brings his right hand back very slow which makes him vulnerable suspect-able to counter hooks or lead rights. He does have a solid chin better this his older brother. Leaves his body open for shots when throwing those hard shots. A counter puncher's dream basically.
Pros: He has a very powerful punch, solid chin. Variety of punches in his arsenal. Every fight he seems to develop something new whether it be counters or a lead left uppercut, right hand combo.
So you have to believe he has watched plenty of Lucas tapes and notice he can be out-boxed. Do I believe he will stop or ko Lucas? No, but it will be a very competitive fight. Will He win? Who knows, but you guys need to analyze instead of spewing the same ol' casual fan bs like "He will run like Mayweather" or "He will get ko'd".
Analyze the fight so we can pick apart things we don't usually see and further dissect both fighters to come up with a potential winner.
^^^^^This^^^^^^
Dude you know your boxing, I must give you props with this response. Also like another poster commented on is that Lamont fought Lucas in the AMS. He knows him, he even said so himself. Remember Lamont is the one who wanted this fight as well. He said it soon after his win over Holt. I really don't understand why people underestimate Lamont. If you have noticed ALOT of boxers give him a lot of respect (Rosado, Garcia, Floyd, Broner). The dude ain't a slouch.
Also those that keep coming back with the Pederson comments really need to do your research about the whole thing. There is a reason why he was allowed to keep his belt, actually the WBA had him as a champ in recess until they reviewed it all. This is a dude who had no big promoter pull and was cleared. Stop being a message board philosopher, **** is almost worst than my barber shop....
If anything it was probably smelling salts or a ammonia inhalant to bring a dazed or unconscious person out of a stupor, nothing more(After the very late shot at the end of Rd 11). There was no pills given, I am almost positive of that. I have looked at the corners work although we really don't know for sure, as the entire minute is not visible.
Broner got his ass handed to him throughout the fight although I did give him props for answering the bell till the end. He did try to fight back, and won maybe 3 rds.(Being kind with that many) The blue print has been set, we have seen the last of Broner unless he goes back to fighting cab drivers as he did before Maidana or Malignaggi..
D
Smelling salts are illegal man. That's what the hoopla is about (yes even in TX).
Damn, a lot of people really don't know boxing and it's rules.
Broner got whooped and he must be commended for still going out each round (altho he did want out in the 8th rd). For people to throw stuff at him when he left the ring was just terrible. The dude just put his life on the line for our entertainment.
I really hope that this doesn't put a dark cloud over Maidana's win. Ariza should know his place. This dude has no right to be in the corner. He should just do is f'in job as a S&C coach.
Sillakh will win this. Probably by KO.
How are you people so stupid as to always follow the hype?:grr:
He beat ****ing Nathan Cleverly, Who I though lost to Bellew.
THIS!
I'm glad to see someone here actually knows boxing and doesn't get caught up just because someone has power. You would think they would have learned this from Lucas M.
Sillakh is damn good. I'm looking forward to this.
no he's not.he gets tested about every other day.quit crying and enjoy the fight chump
Exactly! I swear some people are so quick to pass judgment without knowing the facts. Get your life son!
Wow
Some of you guys are really immature huh?
I can understand not liking Broner. He's a polarizing figure and does make himself an easy target.
But there are a lot of questions surrounding this. First off, NOBODY is saying anything about a pill. What they are questioning is if this was smelling salt which is illegal. Ariza says that it was cotton swab. But why would ARIZA be wiping blood away when the cutman was also in the ring. He's a strength and conditionning coach, not a cutman. Also, there was no cut in Maidana's mouth or nose. Also, what is weird is Maidana's reaction after Ariza "wiped" his nose the second time. If all of this is true then Ariza needs to be fired because he would have taken a great win away from Maidana. That punch that Broner landed after the bell really hurt Maidana.
In short, there are a lot of questions surrounding this. But it doesn't surprise me at all considering that Ariza was involved. This dude is just not a good person. Character goes a long way, and when you mock someone who has a disease, that shows a lack of character.
Also making racial comments.... grow up guys.
