This guy was NOT that impressive against a washed up Judah.
He knocked out old man Morales in their 2nd bout...big dea.
Even though he beat Morales in their 1st bout...the story of the night was how good Morales looked despite being washed up against Garcia.
This guy got SPLIT DECISIONS against the likes of Kendall Holt and Ashley Theophane? 2 Guys with 11 loses combined!
STOP THE MADNESS!
The ONLY thing Danny has going for him is his timing and willingness to punch WITH his opponent along with his toughness.
If THOSE 2 things alone make you feel he can overcome Matthysse being faster, more powerful, better defensively, more crafty and more tested than Danny...fine. Be the contrarian.
BUT SMART MONEY IS ON MATTHYSSE!

Matthysse's boxing ability actually hasn't improved much. He's starting to depend on his chin, athleticism and power to get people out of there.
Matthysse eats more flush shots than he should and is often caught off-balance when punching, being punched or whatever the heck he did against Peterson when he tried to just jump on him.
Garcia is going to have to make him pay for every mistake. His best bet is maintaining distance, encouraging Matthysee to overreach and counter-punching. He won't be able to maintain distance, however, if he doesn't make Matthysse respect his power immediately.
So, if Garcia pops him just ONCE early, he has a chance to turn it into a boxing match. If he doesn't, I don't think he's ready/ capable to fight Matthysse's fight
^^^
That's how you predict a fight. To say a fighter has no chance after acknowledging that he does have skills seems irresponsible. Garcia was able to keep Matthysee "off" of him and that made all the difference.
This is totally acceptable. We all pick wrong.
MC, people posted images of Camacho in a casket and saying Danny is next. That's how far it went with some of these clowns. If you weren't doing that(not meaning you), then we can just say that we all picked wrong. If it was overboard, then crow is a hard thing to swallow.
They went overboard and then some, and are now trying to say that Garcia Matthysse was close. Next it's a draw, and finally it's Matthysse won by a point.
All they had to do was give credit where it's due. Now you hear what Matthysse did wrong or what happened to his eye more than the way Garcia won. It's an insult to read. It's almost disturbing, lmao!
I am objective...don't have a problem admitting when wrong. Like I said before, I like Danny's character so a large part of me was happy he won. I do feel for Matthysse because I think it's a shame he just now got a chance to be champion and ran into Danny who was OVERLY prepared and ready to whoop that ass. I do think the fight was definitely competitive but Danny was the clear victor. But that's why I say Matthysse is no hype job. He just ran into a better boxer.
I actually gave him credit for some things that enabled him to win the fight. I said specifically he has great timing and is willing to punch WITH his opponent. When he stood his ground and wasn't boxing Matthysse, those 2 things is what made the difference.
I stand behind what I said about Danny because up to that point, he hadn't shown the boxing skills he showed Saturday. Only the people who had seen Danny in the amateurs was picking him to win. They'd obviously seen some things most of us hadn't.
As far as the Peterson comment, I stand behind it. Garcia wasn't that impressive against Judah. Take away 1 punch, and Khan was whooping that ass. Morales was old and washed up. Add all that together than put it against Matthysse not just beating Peterson, but DESTROYING him...and that's a pretty compelling case. This is totally acceptable. We all pick wrong.

Picking wrong is one thing, what was said about Danny before this fight is another.

And listen, I like Garcia. I really do. He has guts. Even though I PREFER guys with more skills and goods, I enjoy watching him fight because he grinds and knows how to win.
But he's stepping into another class and I haven't seen anything from him that tells me he will hold onto that belt at this level.
Seriously folks, stop it. Matthysse's victory over Peterson trumps Garcia's entire career. He destroyed ****ing Lamont Peterson...Peterson is NEVER easy work...and he made him EASY work...the boogeyman is real lol.
Wow. That's just insanely stupid. I struggle to find anything I've read recently that comes close to such stupidity.
EDIT: Thougth this was posted after the fight. My bad.
It's boxing. If you are willing to go out on a limb and judge fighters or fights, you will get it wrong some times.
I actually would like to see them fight again. I don't want to see Danny fight Mayweather...at least not yet...
Hopefully we'll get to see Garcia vs. Broner one day.
I'd like to see Garcia - Broner also. I definitely think that Danny deserves a payday now. I mean he has been the underdog in so many fights and he keeps winning. Golden Boy needs to get him a 3-4 mil payday now. Although he would lose to Mayweather, I'd watch it just to see how Danny adjusts. He always finds a wy to do it (ain't that right Khan?)
Props to you for taking your lumps like a man. I have more respect for you that you owned up to the fact that Danny CLEARLY won a fight with Lucas (who is a really good and strong fighter). Thank you for not asking what everyone's score was after 6 rounds like this wasn't 12 round championship fight. Or disregarding the left hook hook that put Lucas on the canvas (not bad officiating). Or by saying had the eye not swollen, etc etc.
Respect brother. Now can you please give some of that hot sauce to the other Lucas fans for their crow as well?

LOL
I was wrong (along with a lot of others). I deserve this.
In my defense, everything I said remained true up to Saturday night. Garcia showed some serious wrinkles most of us had not seen Saturday. I was in awe of Danny Saturday night. He balanced BOXING Matthysse at moments with slick movement with standing and countering his aggression to get his respect. He fought a BRILLIANT fight and I'd go as far to say it was Top 2-3 impressive performances of the year.
I will no longer doubt Danny (unless he fights Mayweather). He is clearly the best at 140. You can now consider me one of his biggest fans.
BTW...I still think Matthysse is every bit as good as people have been saying he was...Danny is just better. If anything, Matthysse has fell into the trap many KO artists fall into, thinking they can win every fight with one punch and forgetting to fight to win rounds...

Epic bump! LOL. People should now see the light and give Danny his props. He is a very good fighter and so is Lucas he just thought he was going to KO him with the first big shot he landed it happens all the time. Thing is Danny has an Iron chin. #1 140 pound fighter.
LOL

I guess his win over Matthysse is pretty good now.

Its is, some here are saying Garcia is stronger, faster, has more skills. I'm telling you they are going full homo and the gayness is clouding their judgement.
Bump, lmao!
Apparently, I have successfully engaged this board in a multiple page debate over an issue that is not even a real issue.
I'd give myself an A+ in the message board equivalent of Ring Generalship.
