I think he will try that, but the 3 inch arm advantage wont allow him too......Also, Chad just fought the dude who is P4P dirtiest fighter in the game Bernard Hopkins...LOL...
Nothing. That is the beauty when good fighters fight good fighters. Youre going to lose form time to time when you fight the very best out there. This is precisely why everyone continues to praise the fighters of old..
How is he not as good as Andre Ward?......At one point, he was considered best pure boxer outside of Mayweather.... I could understand him being on a roll, but where was all of the talk about Ward before Kessler( I picked Ward to beat kessler). Now Chad is not on the same level as WARD?
Based on him beating Bika, Froch, Kessler, Abraham
-Kessler was so over rated it was ridiculous
-Froch is not even in the same league as Dawson
-BIKA is a club fighter...
-Abraham is small for 168 and not in Dawson league
Dawson has been in with fighters who were at the pinnacle of the sport and is the naturally bigger man with arguably the same attributes. Dawson in my opinion has more power.
At this point, the question should be is Ward ready for Dawson.
Hey All,
I had to chime in on this. Being the third PPV draw and taking a regular PPV fight is a brilliant strategy. People fail to realize that Cotto is a free agent and will be receiving more money from the actual promotion and the exposure. Cotto is hedging his bets for the future by doing the following:
-Throwing a co-promoted show that will include his stable of fighters(his future after boxing)
-Taking a smaller guarantee, but still making a lot of money for a prize fight.
-Raking in a larger share of money from the gate.( THe old Adage, you might take in less money, but you are an owner and have a higher stake.
-He is also coming off a legit loss, not like the one pac had, so he is building himself up again for a mega fight with any of the big names that are fighting in November/December. which in turn will make him even more money.
People do not realize how rare making 20 million or 40 million is in any sport is, let alone boxing.
i get where you are going with your argument. The only thing is that it does matter when you say that there is no difference between styles. Paulie Malinaggi uses a shoulder roll, but is nothing like Mayweather. Shyt Toney's style is nothing like Mayweather's.
He tried to emulate Abril.
NO....You are way off.... he was trying to be Abril....Abril keep putting his shoulder right into the face of rios to stop him from throwing anything effective and get the ref to break the two, which worked extremely well.... Alvarado when he boxed did well, but he chose to give us a show :).
I agree the fight was amazing.
Disagree with your assessment that Mayweather's fight are 90% boring. He executes a great plan and his fights are interesting because he is master at the hit and do not get hit style.
I like the response about being denied a job. If that is the case though, why not have random urinalysis throughout training camp? I feel like boxing is a sport where everything is ass backwards.....
Jobs test before you work and Boxing lets you work and then you get tested?
Makes no sense...
Sorry I posted from my phone. What I meant to say was he could have possibly won or got a draw.
Peter would not be able to handle the pressure of Chavez. I absolutely abhor Chavez, but call a spade a spade. He would beat this dude up badly. I am hard on Quillin because he talks about fighting the likes of Martinez and many other top fighters.
4 kds and Showtime has the fight close into the 12th rd? Chavez would destroy this guy.
I normally do not post on this website often, but I am an avid boxing fan...I am surprised no one has caught on to the fact that maybe he is throwing more combos because of his activity and Cotto's relentless attack?
Floyd was fighting once every one-two years....One thing that goes normally is your ability to throw sharp effective combos during layoffs. No I am not saying Floyd is not sharp, but it would be hard to notice him not being Floyd sharp with his counter and potshot style. Floyd "said it himself, this is the sharpest Ive felt in a long time"
Him throwing combos also had to do with the defense of Cotto. What people fail to realize is that Floyd missed 71% of his shots....Cotto's defense was on point, so one punch at a time would not connect and score him the necessary points.
Lastly, please cut all of the talk about Floyd saying he wanted to stay in the pocket and did it for the fans....No Cotto cut the ring off and pushed him in the corner, and used an effective in and out strategy that lured him forward and pushed him back...
Are you kidding me? The fight was featured all over ESPN.......It was in the headlines......Remember that ESPN and HBO made a promotional deal? This article is ridiculous. How can showtime set a viewing record even with the farce that the was the main event?
This had to be one of the best weekends for boxing in a very long time. Two sold out venues with cards that lived up to the hype.
You know the card is great when the most boring fight was gonzalez vs de leon.
Bad article.
