How is this foolishness still going forward after the links pesticid posted????
Hmm ... And this thread is a sticky?
Wow.
Hauser has stated to me by email that there is a question as to whether the data submitted on floyds PED testing was fudged or misleading.
strong accusation with wide ramifications beyond boxing if true
Lmao please just stop.
You say Pac fans are smarter and in the same breathe you are generalizing hundreds of thousands of people. And you're 54 with that thinking? Smh
it was a joke. my pointt is people need to stop buying ppvs that are not ppv worthy. Its called helping the sport so casual fans see some fights other than hardcore and groupies.
could be that pac fans are smarter. LOL
Seriously this is a decent fight that should do good #s. Rios was not ppv material neither is maidaina. It would be nice to see floyd and pac fans boycott bullsh#& PPV. I didnt buy rios and I wont buy maidaina, not unless its 29.95 max. If that fight does over 800,000 it just means floyd has trained his sheep well. thats a showtime basic fight
I know what it siad clown... It's the same shit in his regard.. If there is one known person doing steriods and urine can't detect it then blood testing is a must>>>>>
Urine testing is the defacto testing for steroids and EPO. blood testring is used for HGH. Blood can be saved and used for testing at a later date. There is a reason not many prof sports use the usada. they can be overly restricting and require a 2 year ban for illiegal substances which include many prescription and recreational drugs.
I have a feeling that fans would not like it if there fav star was out for two years for pot.
If floyd wanted this fight so bad why even demand testing? why for this fight? why now? Ill tell you he has to be a little intimidated. (imagine the jets refused to play the Patriots unless they were tested by the usada)
He didnt care what marq was taking or anyone else for that matter. Ive said it over and over there was 10 days seperating cutoff dates. If either party really wanted this fight with the money involved they would have come to terms. It makes as much sence that pac was going to take a somewhat indetectable drug for only 20 days that will make him superman than it does for pac to be afraid of blood tests
agreeing to a contract stipulation does not make u a bitch, especially when you threw a stipulation of your own in there, simple.
>>>>
as you said its a negotiation. not agreeing to one is also commonplace. And the weight stipulation how can anyone use this? It should be NECISSARY that any fighter make weight. If he didnt he should flat out lose. It was only put there because flloyd ignored the weight limit in his prev fight. Marq had every right to walk away and take the money
so why did freddy say they'd agree to any test floyd asks for in the beginning?>>>>
does freddy or even pac really run the show on their side? Arum hates floyd
Mosley-Mayweather was supposed to happen on Sep 25, 1999. It was going to be on regular HBO as a double header (dlh-trinidad replay and then mayweather-mosley). Check ringtalk.com archives. Mosley turned the fight down.

MOSLEY EYING JUNIOR WELTERS
By MICHAEL KATZ
Thursday, April 15th 1999, 2:10AM
Shane Mosley, who finally became big as the 1998 Boxing Writers Association of America fighter of the year, may now be outgrowing the lightweight division.
"This is my last fight at 135," the IBF lightweight champion said from Indio, Calif., where Saturday he makes his seventh defense against short but tough John Brown of Atlantic City.
"It's a battle back and forth just to make the weight," said the unbeaten Mosley, reporting he was at 142 early in the week.
The 5-3 Brown is a 130-pounder. Many thought he was robbed in losing a Garden decision to Angel Manfredy last year before rebounding to end Gabriel Ruelas' career. "He's short," said Mosley, "so I'll probably be throwing a lot more uppercuts and a lot of body shots."
Mosley had hoped the 130-pound king, Floyd Mayweather Jr., would be moving up. Mayweather's father, Floyd Sr., has called his son the best fighter in the world. But they also announced they wanted to break Joe Louis' record of 26 successful title defenses, tantamount to saying forget about Mosley, who now has eyes on a junior-welterweight division that features Kostya Tszyu, Miguel Angel Gonzalez and fast-rising Zab Judah.
people are still going to try and discredit him because Mosley is "old", yet Hopkins is 44.>>>
mosley has pruven to still be a top WW. Floyd should get credit if he should beat him. that said lets not pretend this is the same mosley as 10 yrs ago.
by the way what does hopkins age have to do with anything? there are many great fighters that were done in their early to mid 30s - again what does that mean?
This is a fight Floyd has wanted since 1999>>>>
really? lets go to the tape
5:00 of this vid (manfready fight) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GmnvrsIFHbI floyd is asked if he wanted to move up - answer "i dont want to rush anything".
Mosley has stated that after the rios fight in 99 (he was a commentator) he asked floyd if he wanted the fight before he moved up. floyd told him he wanted to break records at 130. 6:20 of this vid seems to back that claim http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fu4ZQtzIMVE

Shane Mosley, the International Boxing Federation lightweight champion, has decided to abandon the 135-pound division and move up to 140 pounds with an eye toward a bout in December against Oscar De La Hoya, the World Boxing Council welterweight champion, at 147 pounds.
Mosley is preparing to make his debut at 140 pounds on June 19, but no opponent has been selected. Mosley might have to settle at 140 pounds for a while, because it does not appear that De La Hoya is interested in a match.
''It's a ridiculous fight,'' Bob Arum, the president of Top Rank and De La Hoya's promoter, said. ''He should be thinking about fighting Floyd Mayweather. I don't believe a fight with Oscar is competitive in any way. For me to sell it on pay-per-view, it's something I can't do.''
Arum has made an offer to Mosley to fight Mayweather at a weight of 137 pounds. But the 27-year-old Mosley has outgrown the 135-pound division and has been struggling to make the weight. He was dehydrated against John Brown in his last fight in April in which Mosley stopped Brown. Even though he got down to 135 pounds at the weigh-in for the fight, he ballooned to 151 pounds by the time he entered the ring.
On another De La Hoya front, Arum has offered Felix Trinidad, the I.B.F. welterweight champion, $10 million for a bout against De La Hoya on Sept. 18. Arum said he was not sure that Trinidad would accept the offer. Trinidad had insisted on getting purse parity with De La Hoya, but Arum said he had since dropped that demand.
''I don't know what he's going to do,'' Arum said of Trinidad. ''The $10 million offer is similar to the $6 million I offered Main Events and Pernell Whitaker and it's similar to the $4 million I offered Main Events and Ike Quartey. I think $10 million in this case is over generous.''
He said he's better than Sugar Ray Robinson and Ali, >>>>
wouldn't ali have said the same thing? Didnt many hate him at the time because of arrogance?
While I do think floyd is very good. He has a lot of work to do to pruve himself correct. I for one wish him luck on the journey. It should make some good watching either way.
I still got my "ill be back" tshirt from tysons prison stint. He hasnt been more than a 5 rd fighter since coming back. Id say at this point w lots of training his stamina and back are good for about 30 seconds.
I pick jones. touph fight. 160/168 jones had as much power as hagler. rarely got hit but chin didnt seem bad, great stamina and his speed made up for any defisiancy in tech. hagler struggled w some moving up (leonard and duran). and although the leonard fight was notin haglers prime it was further from leonards (detached retna, moving up, 3 yrs off. Hagler was a workhorse but I just dont think that that jones gets worn down.
lets take this a step further. How does hagler (young/old) do w hopkins?, tarver?
Hops always did what he was supposed to w fighters coming up hagler?
Shit, my bad. I for some reason I thought Tyson v Holyfield. Disregard my last post.>>>>
althogh certainly not as bad tyson was well past his prime for that fight also. He collapsed as much from exaustion as the beatdown
OH yes definitely, Johnson is no Traver and based on Jones' losing effort against Traver he can still beat Johnson>>>>
yeah, he did so well for like 2 minutes
????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
personally I think PBF's speed is overrated. hes fast, but there is faster. his accuracy and timing are great. I see him possably loosing to shane. at the very least it should be competitive as shane will not be easily outboxed and has longer arms, is stronger and has a better chin.
Roy is it for me. I just feel privlidged to have seen someone so gifted.
But if you go by resumes he doesnt compete. Take out a early hops, tony and ruiz and you dont have much.
Although his resume could certainly have been better if he was more of a fighter and less of a "business man". It still wouldent be great
and Mosely is the type if he get KOed at first he gets easily discourage even when he cant hurt the other person.
>>>
being KOd at first would discorage just about anyone, no?
I dont know the answer to this. I think the question is not being answered honestly by most.
Delahoya, Pac, LL, Hopkins, tyson, Jones, ect are all very good fighters and while I may think LL got his name elevated beating 2 over the hill fighters, and anouther may think oscar feasted for a good part of his career on names coming up in weight or over the hill. Most over rated of all time is a tad bit harsh for any of these.
I sort of remember around the time mosley departed GB that hopkins was ranting that they GB (schaffer) were freezing him out and wanting him to go to pasture.
Don't act like Pacquaio fought Margarito straight up, because he didn't. Pacquaio needed his catch weight in order to get in the ring with Margarito. If Pacquaio went up to 54 and fought Margarito with no weight stipulations or catch weights then you could brag about it, but he didn't.
I guess we could drop the marquez win for floyd then? he set a catchweight and didnt bother to honor it. Thats worse, nobody forced marg or cotto to sign.
Floyd is up there with the Leonard's, he's not as great as Robinson but Floyd is one of the greatest boxers to ever step in the ring.>>>>>
my gut says he competes w the best of them but its hard to say. On his march up he didnt exactly go out of his way to beat the best around and the best doesent match up well w other eras anyway.
his opposition isnt unbelievable even if he looks unbelievable. 44-0 in that light isnt mind boggling, hell RJ was like 48-1 w the one a DQ and JT was up there as well. not to mention JCC who was 80 something and 0 before he lost.
