I'm convinced that Floyd Mayweather is going to become the first man to KO Shane Mosley.
It won't come from one punch obviously. It will come from an accumulation of punches. I'm 200% positive that Floyd Mayweather could have knocked Juan Marquez out in ten rounds if he really pressed for it.
Just like the Baldomir fight, Floyd didn't press for the KO because of the risk involved. The risk of bigger paydays against Shane and Manny were simply too much to gamble. Floyd just played it safe and STILL beat every ounce of man out of JMM.
When Floyd fights Shane, it will be a different ball game. Floyd will put more on the line this time like he did against Chico, Gatti and even Hatton. This is a fight Floyd has wanted since 1999.
Shane Mosley fights with EGO first, intelligence second. That kind of mentality plays right into the hands of a master thinker like Floyd.
The jab will be key. I see Floyd unloading on Shane in the latter rounds. Jabs, lead lefts, straight rights, etc... Remember, Shane has good footwork, but he rarely moves his head and a lot of the time he stays in punching range while not punching.
If Shane wins a round after the 5th I'll be shocked. Put it like this: after this fight I don't even think the Pactards will be pushing for a Mayweather-Pac fight anymore.

Shane Mosley, the International Boxing Federation lightweight champion, has decided to abandon the 135-pound division and move up to 140 pounds with an eye toward a bout in December against Oscar De La Hoya, the World Boxing Council welterweight champion, at 147 pounds.
Mosley is preparing to make his debut at 140 pounds on June 19, but no opponent has been selected. Mosley might have to settle at 140 pounds for a while, because it does not appear that De La Hoya is interested in a match.
''It's a ridiculous fight,'' Bob Arum, the president of Top Rank and De La Hoya's promoter, said. ''He should be thinking about fighting Floyd Mayweather. I don't believe a fight with Oscar is competitive in any way. For me to sell it on pay-per-view, it's something I can't do.''
Arum has made an offer to Mosley to fight Mayweather at a weight of 137 pounds. But the 27-year-old Mosley has outgrown the 135-pound division and has been struggling to make the weight. He was dehydrated against John Brown in his last fight in April in which Mosley stopped Brown. Even though he got down to 135 pounds at the weigh-in for the fight, he ballooned to 151 pounds by the time he entered the ring.
On another De La Hoya front, Arum has offered Felix Trinidad, the I.B.F. welterweight champion, $10 million for a bout against De La Hoya on Sept. 18. Arum said he was not sure that Trinidad would accept the offer. Trinidad had insisted on getting purse parity with De La Hoya, but Arum said he had since dropped that demand.
''I don't know what he's going to do,'' Arum said of Trinidad. ''The $10 million offer is similar to the $6 million I offered Main Events and Pernell Whitaker and it's similar to the $4 million I offered Main Events and Ike Quartey. I think $10 million in this case is over generous.''
Wow that's a while ago. Thanks for posting.

pac couldnt KO him in 24 rounds...
and isnt pac better, stronger & faster than Mayweather?
:?!:
lol yea but that's besides the point, it was at SFW..Marquez prime weight..don't you get the joke? lol
floyd COULDN'T KO the fat slow overweight version.

Maybe a UD but beyond that, no way. He did push for it against JMM and he couldn't do it. He fights no where near as aggressively as he did when he fought Gatti, who stood there with his hands down and was way slower than Floyd. Floyd will be in a defensive posture for 95% of this fight.
HAHA
This is gonna get more laughs then the Mosley is gonna KO Marg thread...
But i can actually bet all my points, mosley aint getting KO'd by Mayweather lol
MOSLEY EYING JUNIOR WELTERS
By MICHAEL KATZ
Thursday, April 15th 1999, 2:10AM
Shane Mosley, who finally became big as the 1998 Boxing Writers Association of America fighter of the year, may now be outgrowing the lightweight division.
"This is my last fight at 135," the IBF lightweight champion said from Indio, Calif., where Saturday he makes his seventh defense against short but tough John Brown of Atlantic City.
"It's a battle back and forth just to make the weight," said the unbeaten Mosley, reporting he was at 142 early in the week.
The 5-3 Brown is a 130-pounder. Many thought he was robbed in losing a Garden decision to Angel Manfredy last year before rebounding to end Gabriel Ruelas' career. "He's short," said Mosley, "so I'll probably be throwing a lot more uppercuts and a lot of body shots."
Mosley had hoped the 130-pound king, Floyd Mayweather Jr., would be moving up. Mayweather's father, Floyd Sr., has called his son the best fighter in the world. But they also announced they wanted to break Joe Louis' record of 26 successful title defenses, tantamount to saying forget about Mosley, who now has eyes on a junior-welterweight division that features Kostya Tszyu, Miguel Angel Gonzalez and fast-rising Zab Judah.
damm nature, you scary

Mosley-Mayweather was supposed to happen on Sep 25, 1999. It was going to be on regular HBO as a double header (dlh-trinidad replay and then mayweather-mosley). Check ringtalk.com archives. Mosley turned the fight down.
>>>
first Ive heard this and Ive been following boxing pretty hard core before 1999. any other refrences to this besides pedro?
I remember talk even a ring mag cover but no sched fights
a google search comes up with loads of mosley hits for septembers rivera fight nothing w mayweather

But, I also think JMM was at a more natural weight against Pac do you agree? I think if Pac is fighting JMM at 147 Pac would stop and dominate him to be honest. I just don't think JMM carried the weight well... But, I also think if Floyd would of been more aggressive he would of stopped JMM also...
This is a fight Floyd has wanted since 1999>>>>
really? lets go to the tape
5:00 of this vid (manfready fight) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GmnvrsIFHbI floyd is asked if he wanted to move up - answer "i dont want to rush anything".
Mosley has stated that after the rios fight in 99 (he was a commentator) he asked floyd if he wanted the fight before he moved up. floyd told him he wanted to break records at 130. 6:20 of this vid seems to back that claim http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fu4ZQtzIMVE

floyd didnt ko marquez because marquez is tough manny couldnt stop the guy in 24 rounds and marquez had manny hurt more than he was hurt. floyd prob could stop him if he unloaded shots like he did gatti but marquez is no gatti and he didnt. floyd still dominated and outbox and made the great champion look like an amature. and stop saying marquez was too small. floyd dint use size what so ever to beat marquez. he out matched and outskilled him in everyway. he would have did the same if not more if they fought at 130. style matchup that was a bad fight for juan period. he always got lazy with other boxers and floyd is the best. you cant hit what you cant catch plain and simple thats why he lost not because floyd out weighed him. floyd is outweighed in most of his fights yet he wins. and because floyd didnt knockout fighter A doesnt mean he cant stop fighter B. this is boxing anything can happen. kotza hit hatton with everything and didnt stop him but he hits harder than floyd yet floyd stops hatton. theres no set energy bar like a video game. anything can happen in a fight. you get hit you might be hurt you might not. i dont think floyd will stop mosley but in the sport of boxing i wont be surprised. i dont think he will because floyd style isnt to go out there and kill you he is going to beat you with whatever opportunity presents itself. if he can use jab and lead rights all night thats what he will do. if he figures fighting in the pocket works he will do that if fighting off the ropes work he will use that. he doesnt fight 1 way he fights using whatever works in that fight
this man has knowledge of the sweet science.
people are still going to try and discredit him because Mosley is "old", yet Hopkins is 44.>>>
mosley has pruven to still be a top WW. Floyd should get credit if he should beat him. that said lets not pretend this is the same mosley as 10 yrs ago.
by the way what does hopkins age have to do with anything? there are many great fighters that were done in their early to mid 30s - again what does that mean?

i dont like john ruiz so i dont watch him fight i dont comment on him i could careless about him. all you so called mayweather haters seem to always have an opinion or something to say about him. hate him so much yet have so much to say about him lol.
nice avatar. lol! i take it floyd sr. pissed you off with his comments regarding pac and peds.
Nope, why would i be pissed. It's just that i couldn't believe that the predators are true. :lol1::lol1:
hurt my ass, that was just an excuse why he's running and he couldn't hurt baldomir. And about floyd's running tactics, you're asking for atleast one fight where he is running and i gave you one, i could search for more but i can't stand watching floyd fights because they put me to sleep everytime i watch his fights.
dont watch him fight. i can understand your not a fan ok. but if i watch a fighter hit someone all day with shots then start to throw one halfway thru and if he says he hurt his hand ill take that. and floyd excuse because he couldnt hurt carlos huh? since when do floyd go out there to kill someone then give up cuz he cant hurt him? and again he didnt run that fight i dont see your reasoning really. and you dont like floyd dont watch him simple as that. its obvious you dont like him or enjoy him yet you critisize him as if you do. you call him a runner yet you can only bring up 1 fight with only a handfull of dull rounds out of 40 fights yet he is a runner? please make sense bro
once again have you watched the fight? the fight and i said show me 2 fights out of 40 where floyd runs? you pick 1 out of 40 to define his whole career? lmao gtfo of here bro you need more than that. and as i recall floyd was busting carlos up until halfway thru when floyd said he hurt his hand and was busting carlos up with 1 hand. but yeah hes running yet he still outlanding outpunching the champion with 1 hand. a champion who has a hard ass chin even verron forrest hit him with everything and didnt budge the guy. but thats running you know shit about the sport of boxing. to define a boxers career you got to come up with more than 1 fight to say he running and if that find a fight wheres he runs mroe than 50% of it. he didnt run period i saw a man controll the fight with 1 hand after halfway thru

All threads of these kinds will be bumped May 1st, 10:30PM PST. If Mayweather can knock out Mosley who's never been put out like that, people are still going to try and discredit him because Mosley is "old", yet Hopkins is 44.
Hopkins hasn't really fought anyone who can even hit him cleanly except that last guy he fought but he had no power at all.
