i like harrison, mainly because he's british, and having seen him many times on the BBC i have to say he imo he wont be able to cut it v superior fighters. He's struggled to beat fighters, who wouldnt be out of place in white collar boxing, so imagine how he'll do versus some tough opposition. He has skill though but another problem is his age. I dont know he exact age but i pretty confident when i say he's past his prime, physically.
Taylor by stoppage, late. It's time to get rid of them boring fighters. John Ruiz has been taken out, Hopkins is next!
surely, as a boxer you shouldn't suggest that hopkins is boring. He is a true masterclass capable of doing it all. I for one love to watch (and learn) when he's in the ring.
some of the skills you should develop in boxing would defently help in street fights. Firstly you should learn how to throw a punch properly. In most street fights the fighters throw widely with no control. Boxing should defeintly help with this. Second is defensivly you should get a lot better. The foot movement used in boxing could get you out of a lot of trouble. ie. stop you from getting cornered.
Having said all that. Street fighting has no rules. So if the guy comes out with a knife or something then there's not much you can do.
Also i think you've posted this in the wrong section, but i'm quite new so i'm not 100%.
in a few years we;ll be talking about taylor and we;ll say the hopkins defeat was a good learning experience. He just too inexperienced to be able to deal effectively with hopkins
it's all a matter of opinion. in the uk fishing is the most popular sport (i know) with more people taking part in it, on an average weekly basis, than any other sport. Those fishers would probably glady watch the fishing channel and would think its exicting. I would find it a good way of getting to sleep so when you ask your question, the answer you;ll get will depend on the person you ask.
btw to put cricket 5th, in my opionion, is an absolute joke.
dont get me wrong i loved lewis but he wasnt too smart when he decided to take a small role in oceans 11, which meant he missed training; which led him to being knocked out by that nevershouldhavebeen rahman.
imo Ali has to be smartest overall fighter. inside his tactics were almost all the time spot on and outside the ring his manner was just as good.he often used his words to beat his opponent even before they steped into the ring.
yeah he was fighting klitschko. they were in the first round ( i think) then the power goes out. When the lights come back they start fighting each other, not boxing, just standing their throwing punches.

i dont think that all these ruiz fans are 'real' ruiz fans. they most likely saw how 'the pretender' messed everyone up and how he got under everyone's skin, with his endless ruiz loving and thought that it mite be fun to do it to. That's the only explanation for it cuz it certaintly aint because he;s the best or even one of the best in the world.
Congratulations on the accomplishment, young man.
(
lol. love that you added young man, said with such authority with your 5000+ posts.
Legend, man how could you get rid of that girl?
well done on your posts too sturm
my head says neither of them will win but my heart wants to say that Hatton has the better chance. Zoo is a worldclass fighter but 2/3 rounds in two years is not good, so hatton has to capatalise on this if he has any chance of winning. Hopkins is gonna win, end of.
that is one thing i envy about america. over here in the uk sky (the major player) show fights a week after they happen (eg. Diego Corrales v Jose Luis Castillo being shown the 13th when the fight took place on the 7th). sometimes they dont even show fights. example calzaghe, one of britain's best fighters, i dont think is even going to be shown in full, just in highlights
theres a difference between throwing a punch and throwing a good punch. As the guy said ANYONE can throw a punch, some people are blessed with natural talent and can throw a good punch without learning about punching techniques buts most people learn how to throw a good punch by learning.
Example being Bruce Lee. I'm preety sure that it took many months of practice before he was able to throw the one-inch punch. So to answer the original question - go to a gym and learn the art of throwing a good punch.
Hattons adrenalin was so pumped up he couldnt feel it.
i also thought that- the amount of adrenalin he must have had undoubtly take some of those punches. in his next fight and future fights he probably wont have as much, which will be interesting becuase although zoo didnt land his best punches he did land some stinging shots.
fighting at your home venue would have some effect. Fighting at home would give a small increase in determination to win and satisfy your home crowd. It would also give you slightly more adrenaline. Also the fact it is your home and you have fought there before would make you more comfortable and being more comfortable and relaxed can make you box better
However for top class fighters it woodn;t make that much of a difference.
The main advantage you would get is from the judges and maybe sometimes the ref.
hatton proved he was for real but seriously he isnt touching pretty boy floyd.
i want to say 'yeah he will' 'he'll do what he did to zoo' etc but i just cant do that, yet anyway.
i can't see HATTON fighting anybody outside of the U.K.
hatton has said many many times, that it is his dream/ambition to fight in LAS VEGAS, so expect him to be fighting there soon. Frank Warren's gonna be who wants him to remain in britain, that way he gets to keep the money, so we;ll have to wait and see who wins the battle. Hatton who wants to fight aboard and show his quality on a greater stage or Warren who wants more the of the money going into his pocket. We;ll have to wait and see but Hatton defeintly wants to fight in the main city, which is vegas.
What I didnt like was that low blow from Hatton...
That was INTENTIONAL!
He should've been cost TWO points for that
i think the saying goes 'an eye for an eye'- it doesnt matter about the low blow cuz when hatton did it zoo was already so tired and 'beaten' -
gotta to aks though - tsyzu himself said he lost to the better fighter - indicating that he has no excuses- so if he doesn't have any excuses why are people making them for him.
Hatton's tactic was to be aggressive and to always keep pressure on tyszu. Sometimes aggression can seem to be 'dirty', i've seen it so many times in football(soccer) and i'm sure that everyone else has seen in other physical sports. Hatton isn't a dirty fighter by nature, but the tactics of that fight called for agression agression agression and that's why, i think, that he seemed to be a little bit dirty. Anyone who has seen his previous fights would know this.
About the slip that could have been a knockdown, one of the commentators also thought it was caused by a zoo punch, at first, and when the ref called it a slip he agreed with that. G
Ricky on the biggest night of his life still acted like a fan by asking and despertly seeking for someone in his dressing room to take a picture of him with russel crowe, he was like 'russel take a picture'.
Corrales-Castillo was prob the best but i voted wright v trinidad because i just loved the way he dominated that fight. Maybe the fact that i dont like trinidad played a part aswell but i picked it for the level of class wright showed.
he needs to train him on how to get signed up with great products like ' The Goerge Foreman lean mean fat grilling machine' - That must have made him loads of $$$. That's what he should train him for - how to endorse products - fighting for tyson is over!
heavyweight should be won by the heaviest people.
no it shouldn't. the heavyweight champ shouldn't be the heaviest, they should be the best. Some of the best heavyweight champs (Ali esp) werent the heaviest of heavyweights.
weight is important, as it allows for greater punch power, but if the fighters aint got the skills to use there power effectivly, it's useless then isn't it?
hatton's style of non-stop work and attack will suit the american crowd. Even if he loses (which like him i beleive he wont) he should go fight in america.
did you guys know that hearns broke his right hand in the 1st round v hagler and carried on through the rest of the fight with it. He didnt even mention it the post-fight press conference because he didnt want to take any credit away from hagler who he said 'fought a great fight'. A few people could learn a thing or two from that.
has anyone seen round 1 of joe louis V Max Schmeling - the rematch? Apparently that was a very good round.
Get over them. They are inferior to the average fighter from the states.
that is a ludocrisly outragous statement. you cant just generalise fighters like that my friend.
maybe our best fighters arent as good as americas best fighters but there's always one or two who can step up and represent britain - aka - hatton
Please tell me you didint just compare Duran and Hatton.
if the fight happens there's going to be obvious comparisons-
Mayweather is seen as a young robinson and Hatton idolises Duran - so its not hard to see comparisons (but there shoudnt be, yet anyway)
Hatton didn't fight an American, why do you Brits keep missing that fact?
correct me if im wrong but arent Oliveira, Stewart and Phillips all americans.
but i didnt mean to suggest that he's proven against americas best, i just wanted to say that we do produce some fighters who are capable of being the best, thats all.
