this thread is stupid and all it has it a bunch of excusesConsidering the odds against Ricky, going into this fight, I'd say this thread is bang on. We're trying to make sense of an outcome that was definitely not anticipated by most knowledged fans.
Myself, I see that version of Ricky beating Zoo 19 times outa' 20. But, I believe the real story here is not Hatton's victory, so much as it is Zoo's defeat. The Hatton story will be told in the UK, while most of the rest of the world will look at Zoo's defeat.
In the end, this fight is the classic "styles" argument. What makes it very interesting though, is that Ricky's style probably beats most guys in the division.
Zoo got smothered and didn't get off. Hats off to Ricky. Hatton also took a few good shots from Zoo, but not the flush straight stuff that everybody figured would end it for Zoo.
Post-fight Zoo said "something was wrong". It was his age that caught up with him. He was exhausted by a tempo set by the younger more fit fighter.
Hattons adrenalin was so pumped up he couldnt feel it.
i also thought that- the amount of adrenalin he must have had undoubtly take some of those punches. in his next fight and future fights he probably wont have as much, which will be interesting becuase although zoo didnt land his best punches he did land some stinging shots.
If Tszyu was throwing the same uppercut that Phillips caught Hatton with i'm sure it would have hurt moe.
Yeah but he didnt and he couldnt get anything off. Dont get me wrong, I believe if Tszyu would have caught Hatton with his devastating right Hatton would have been oatmeal. But Hatton didnt let him and there is no really if and buts about it. Hatton DIDNT let Tszyu do anything and didnt give him room to. I ate my own crow in this fight, I thought Tszyu would have walked through Hatton like it was a piece of cake.
I believe Hatton for the fact that Tszyu didnt really land a clean punch on Hatton.

What do you think about Hatton saying Vince Phillips is a bigger Punchers than Kostya Tszyu??
I Know Phillips was loaded up with steroids, or it could just be that Hattons adrenalin was so pumped up he couldnt feel it.

Tszyu was roughed up and beaten by the better man, nothing more and nothing less.
Tszyu threw in the towel partly because his trainer mentioned it and wanted the fight to stop and fighters usually follow there trainers advice as they think that is the best.
I dont think Tszyu should have quit on his stool, but considering the previous 11 rounds it wouldnt have mattered. Tszyu wasnt knocking out Hatton anyways.
I dont think quitting will hurt his legacy either, I think it is more of a passing of the torch type deal.
